schwit··on Can Facebook Save California?
California can't be saved as long as they have pension obligations that far outstrip any potential new sources of income. http://articles.latimes.com/2010/apr/06/opinion/la-oe-crane6...
schwit··on Solitary Jailhouse Lawyer Argues His Way Out of Prison
The DA and cops are in it for convictions not justice.

Anyone in the police or DA's office who had a hand in railroading him should get 10 years in jail.

schwit··on State Budgets: The Day of Reckoning - 60 Minutes
Bureau of Labor Stats and US census:

$13k=pension for private sector worker in NY state

$27k=pension for public sector worker in NY state

Pensions will push states to declare bankruptcy. Illinois is the worst and I am surprised any business will do business with them since they are so far behind in paying its bills.

If Manning had given the data to Al-Qaeda would we feel the same way?

schwit··on BP's Photo Blockade of the Gulf Oil Spill
First off BP has an overriding obligation to its stockholders. Second, BP has a PR playbook for this scenario that is based upon decades of experience. For the moment BP's money is making the rules.
schwit··on SR-71 Blackbird Flight Manual
I take it the parts that remain classified contain the max speed and altitude?
schwit··on [dead]
Chrome 5 was the clear performance winner. "In Google’s own V8 benchmark ..."

Google browser and Google benchmark? Can we get a benchmark from an unbiased source?

schwit··on Costly IRS 1099 Mandate Slipped into Health Bill
Time to get rid of all federal taxes except a national sales tax. Our Rube Goldberg tax system has got to be the single biggest drag on economy. Imagine the money that goes into complying with taxes doing something constructive.
schwit··on How to manipulate people with font type?
How about telling us what font type is best for various writing situations.
schwit··on Adobe abandons iPhone code tools
Good.Adobe should have in its flash licensing a prohibition against having tools that convert to video formats viewable on an iphone.
schwit··on In-Browser Peer-to-Peer File Transfer
Flash based, which is a major bummer.
schwit··on Euro MPs block bank data deal with US
Illegal by whose standards?

How the information was obtained outside of Germany may be a crime, but not in Germany.

As a citizen of Germany you are required to provide to the German government information that determines taxes owed. Any attempt to evade this obligation is a crime in Germany.

In this case Germany has a right to the information.
