Have the price for the cars dropped? When I was racing in bilcross ~15 years ago the price for a car was 9000 NOK. You can also bid on any car that have been in the race, not only the winners and you cannot refuse to sell. Personal safety equipment is not part of the sale. Bid is a fixed price and if several bids on the same car they draw one of the bids on random. It is tons of fun racing and safe even if you get in a heat with many who have never raced before

Sweden and Finland do also have the same, is called folkrace there

rypskar··on Ideal monitor rotation for programmers (2021)
>>invent a new type of rotation resistant power and video cable

That should not be difficult, plug cables into the base instead of directly into the screen and have circular donut shaped plates connecting the base and the screen instead of cables. The plates do of course have to have a spring to put the correct pressure to give a good connection even after some wear on the plates

If you want to include production of electricity you also need to include refining and distribution of gas. So many exclude that and make calculations as if the gas get to the gas station by magic

>>right place (like a desert)

The panels are less efficient when it is hot, so at summer Denmark is the right place. They are even using solar on Svalbard [0] with good results 9 months a year

The sun is still at its high point at the same time of the day in both countries

rypskar··on One man’s quest to end cheating in virtual cycling
>>A big part of the joy of cycling is about being outside

That depends a lot on where you live, a road bike and snow is not a good combination. For me it is a joy for about 4 months a year, where 2 of the months is when my allergy is at it worst. So the rest of the year is training inside on a trainer

rypskar··on Habitually Skipping Breakfast Is Associated with the Risk of GI Cancers
>>So we are now off of fasting?

Why not start the day with breakfast and not eat late in the evenings? Eating late is also often linked to poor sleep

rypskar··on We are not sustainable
That don't compare since wildfires are releasing carbon that is part of the natural cycle while transportation is adding to the natural cycle. What is released from wildfires are soon absorbed by new forest growing where the old was

Discs flying apart is most of the time from wrong usage, bending the disc while cutting or bending a disc by using a cutting disk for grinding and applying to much force. I did work as a mechanic for some years and have used angle grinder for hobbies 20+ years since, and have never seen a disc fly apart. (Still remember to always use safety goggles and hearing protection while using a grinder)
rypskar··on Danish cloud host says customers ‘lost all data’ after ransomware attack

The text is in Danish, since it is a Danish company. Norwegian and Danish is close, but some words have totally different meanings

On the home screen, clicking the Youtube logo refreshes the suggestions. Or did I misunderstand and you want it in a different view?
rypskar··on We Ruined Status LEDs; Here’s Why That Needs to Change
I have problems sleeping when there are bright blue LEDs in the room and not when there are red LEDs. I do not have a problem sleeping when the room is light at night because of the midnight sun, so is not dark vs light that is the difference

rypskar··on Is Google reCAPTCHA GDPR Compliant?
>>because it is needed in order to perform the core function to separate bots from humans

The core function for most sites using recaptcha is not to separate bots from humans, so a consent is needed before sending data to a 3rd party not related to the core functions of the site or app

CFC-gasses, leaded gasoline, and DDT are the first I can think of. There are lots of cases where a ban of something harmful done by companies have successfully been banned
rypskar··on Emissions are no longer following the worst case scenario
>>Per capita is irrelevant when we’re talking about total damage being done

Per capita is relevant when we are talking about countries or regions, if not the easy way is to cut the region in 2 and say you have cut emissions by 50%.

The per capita is irrelevant is often used by small countries as an excuse for not doing anything because "they" are so many more than "we", so what "we" do don't change anything

rypskar··on Cities Aren't Loud: Cars Are Loud (2021) [video]
>Snow tires are known to be louder

Studded snow tires are louder than other tires, snow tires without studs are softer than normal tires so less noise. Modern snow tires without studs are surprisingly good on ice, which is the only place studded tires can compete.

Noise levels is one of the things tires are rated by, but a quiet tire would normally require a softer compound and softer compound wears out faster than harder tires

rypskar··on The rise and rise of e-sports
>Most of esports is not profitable. Events are usually run for the love of the game as opposed to trying to make money

That can be said about any sport. Broadcasting football is big business but most teams are not profitable and the players play for the love of the sport as opposed to trying to make money

rypskar··on The cold hard truth about electric vehicles in winter
At least in Norway cars will limit the charging to 10A when using a normal wall socket instead of a dedicated car charger on a connection with extra protection, I think there are some Eu regulations around that to.

10A circuits was the norm in houses years ago, but now the normal is changed to 16A and one 25A for the stove. We do not have any fee based on the maximum amperage of the circuit, the changes are only demand driven. If you want to put the kettle on and vacuum at the same time you need 16A
