But if the blockchain is truly append-only, what stops me from paying the first payment and then disappearing? Even if I pay it all upfront, what if I charge back?

Good luck to all the people putting out the fires from this one

I find it incredibly unlikely that this wasn't orchestrated by the creator of the video, somehow being in the perfect position to film the moment and then posting a barely-over-10-minute piece about it while copyright striking another video on the event (according to comments).

Proposition -13 (or 1/13, depending on the scheme) to be exact

Does discord go down more often compared to other instant messaging systems I use, or do I just notice it more?

Similarly, even if you work hard and believe in yourself, you will never find that ONE card you need to synergize your entire deck

Then again, forcing yourself to look for cards that adhere to an StS archtype is a beginners trap itself.

If the ACA or Medicaid will pay for kidneys for those who can't afford, what stops the price of kidneys from becoming equivalent to the price of dialysis should the kidney not be bought?

> The Verge says the name change is a closely guarded secret at the moment and not even all senior leaders have knowledge about it.

Well they do now..

That's amazing! The puff is soooo uncomfortable! Is the technology to do this widespread?

Both my Montreal based servers are still down. Seems like their resellers are also, unsurprisingly, impacted

The company makes more than just that tool, and particularly makes other W10 apps. The company itself is a gold partner, which, as nix23 posted -

Gold competency: To attain a competency, partner must:

Pass required exams and skill validation.
    Meet performance requirements.
    Pay the annual fee.

$4,730

It seems less malevolent in that light

> You googlers can't even disdain yourselves to talk to other workers at the company who are in a caste lower than you.

We must know different googlers then. It's good to avoid painting a group with the same brush

The ad on CNN that started with "would you like to lower your mortgage payments" before it got cut to the first live footage of the towers has to be the worst television timing in history

What kind of dad jokes do you make?

What is Shelter First and Housing Earned? A quick search on google only yielded results for "Housing First". What's the difference in shelter and housing, and how does one earn their way from shelter to housing?

"The data we’re interested in are basically just DNS errors:

What's the catch here? Are they making the extension query invalid names like userspersonallyidentifiableinformation.com to exfiltrate data from NXDOMAINs?

I think the dictatorship killed him. The pilots just made an unfortunate decision that was understandable given the lack of information and fighter jet on their wing.

I think it makes sense why one would care about what the hiring manager would think in the context of the quote the original comment includes.

I think you misunderstood the tone of my comment. I'm not saying that that is the case, but that I imagine that kind of victim blaming or whatever you want to call it is what a hiring manager would use with an applicant claiming burnout.

> For those who can afford to quit, claiming burnout may be an effective way to signal one’s essential employability, a way to reassure your future bosses that you will work yourself to the bone for them, too — right after this break.

I'm not a hiring manager, but I'd imagine from the perspective of one that claiming burnout as a reason for leaving actually signifies the opposite - you're unable to manage a proper work-life balance and there's a risk you'll burn out in a new job too.

Yup! Misspelled the name

So this is what the CPUBenchmark authors wrote before making CPUBenchmark

How much does Google pay MarkMonitor for this to happen?

I never knew that there was a second moderator! (sctb)

Their comment history only has some comments from 2019, and is much shorter than dangs. Did they only have a short stint as a moderator on HN, or do they now work from another account/behind the scenes?

Rainmeter is awesome! The scripting to make your own desktop widgets is so simple to learn even my non technical friends who use rainmeter can make/modify stuff. I think it's a good example of how to make "code" accessible to non-coders
