qikInNdOutReply··on Meme group on Discord is focus of uproar over leaked Pentagon documents
Chat GPT write me a book on the following topic. Instant expert, just add hot water.
qikInNdOutReply··on Meme group on Discord is focus of uproar over leaked Pentagon documents
Well, if you are young and hopeless, they have no help or solutions for you, but at least a rubber stamp..

And then, when the hotpot they ve been steering for a generation boils over, its all clutching pearls and "how could this happen".

The problem with such betrayal is, that companies names are all but smoke and mirrors by now. The reputational damage should be tracking with the leading employees. One customer betrayal travels along with the manager who caused it, to whatever company s/he touches. No matter how the company is named, no matter how much branding, one linked in api roll call later you know what you got.
qikInNdOutReply··on New NASA Director Swears Oath on Carl Sagan’s ‘Pale Blue Dot’ Instead of Bible
At this point, taking a livecamera werever you go, to be fully transparent, would be way more significant then an oath.
qikInNdOutReply··on New NASA Director Swears Oath on Carl Sagan’s ‘Pale Blue Dot’ Instead of Bible
Well, i dont percieve that whole thing that much and just project my own gender upon everything. I assume everyone is just like me and thats the default of the universe. No special treatment for anyone, not even myself.
qikInNdOutReply··on New NASA Director Swears Oath on Carl Sagan’s ‘Pale Blue Dot’ Instead of Bible
? What has gender to with anything in this regard? I grew up in a cult, the fiercest and deepest believers were all woman, often pushing some married hapeless guy around as a "dog on a leash" to bite and bark for them..
qikInNdOutReply··on Twitter showed us its algorithm – what does it tell us?
You can also throw the ball, aka gameification of parts of the activity, so the success nerds can be busy romping and playing, while the other grown ups get on with the actual fun part.

Seems to be a positive signal, somebody willing to do his duty with both eyes open, instead of blinding himself and escaping into self-chosen irresponsibility.
qikInNdOutReply··on We’re one step closer to reading an octopus’s mind
Imagine sitting in a river side restaurant, with a pizza fruit del mare, and a octopus in a mobile aquarium rolls, by and starts yelling at you for being a sapient eater then settles down, to order a pizza homo.

Singularities are a wild ride.

qikInNdOutReply··on I worked at Google for -10 days
Are we calling those out now, who were ethical and left there home behind? This is a disgusting reply, very well to the anti-japanese craze in america during WW2..
qikInNdOutReply··on People with severe mental illness have been failed by a dysfunctional system
>I believe the biggest lesson from this article though, is that it is dangerous when we legislate based on hope.

Could not agree more. Self-hypnosis and can do rhetoric is a real poison when it comes to mental health. Its also very comon though, as humans can not really percieve mentally different people. We percieve other as flat copies with mirror neurons. So every person somebody else sees, is always "similar to me".

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirror_neuron

If that does not work out, the brain evaluates the persons actions result. If its nothing we regard as valuable, we classify the person as "stupid/lazy/etc", if it has good outcomes, we classify the person as "brilliant/genius/etc".

This inability to even percieve the other and the behaviour they are locked in eliminates alot of the possibilities for help. "I would never do that, unless im lazy. I would think really hard and snap out of it." is way to often the conclusion.

qikInNdOutReply··on People with severe mental illness have been failed by a dysfunctional system
Nashes work declined greatly with the full onset of the sickness and never fully recovered.
qikInNdOutReply··on People with severe mental illness have been failed by a dysfunctional system
Another nuance lost is, that there are many millions for which the sickness is a gift.

What becomes a conspiracy theory of the government following for one, becomes a thriller book for another, that switch to differentiate between hallucination and reality that artists have and patients dont have. My brother was quite the creative powerhouse, before the sickness took him.

I would argue quite High IQ, still got nowhere regarding normal life due to the problem most of his adult life. Was kept on campus out of respect for his archivements. Finally returned to a state of being able to use his IQ with high age.

The intelligence can do nothing once the hardware goes, except weave more elaborate conspiracies and paranoid fantasys.

qikInNdOutReply··on Anthropic’s $5B, 4-year plan to take on OpenAI
If its THE exponential curve of AGI, every day not invested, will result in years behind in a few months. So these are rather small investments, but still bigger then the "to little to late" of the european union.

Its not very visual or intuitive, but in some games, were the resource curve is exponential, small early headstarts become whole armies, were the opponent fields none in very short time.

Especially as AGI is expected to be a multiplicator on alot of other sectors. All those breakthroughs, could become daily occurances, created by a AGI on schedule. It could really become one country that glows, and the rest of the planet falling eternally behind.

qikInNdOutReply··on We're building a browser when it's supposed to be impossible
I wish there was a auto-migration framework, if one software product like my browser is corrupted aka sells out, it packs my settings into a neutral interface file and automatically migrates to a still untouched browser or offers me a list to chose from. Like Nomadic herds of animals, hunted by predators, ever elusive, never caught..
qikInNdOutReply··on We're building a browser when it's supposed to be impossible
Do we really pretend this is a architecture decision? This is the classic Agile Management wants to show result for reward fast, that leads to huge tech debt build up, as layers are not properly designed and reuseable.
qikInNdOutReply··on Microsoft fixes 5-year-old Defender bug, reducing Firefox-related CPU use by 75%

Surely, consequences of copying will hit china any day now.

And when the streaming industry collapses, the music labels will recover. This lawless local optimum for the masses, that is the market, will give way to a guild free monopoly.

Any day now.

qikInNdOutReply··on Programmer interrupted: The cost of interruption and context switching (2022)
If I walked into a foreign profession, with no clue, no previous research and assumed to be in command, with the base assumption that its the task of the surrounding eco-system to explain my job to me..

Lets say it that way, such a mindset ought to be valuable to the extreme. Thats why we see a constant stream of meddle-managers, setting out to make compliance and "apply presure" startups. Its definatly at the core of value generation.

qikInNdOutReply··on I don't want streaming music, I just want to stream my music
I wonder wether some markets are just dead after a while. As in, all things that can be done have been done in all permutations, there might even be software generated plenty, and the product being eternal living, just never fades. Maybe releasing new music, movies, games one day will become the same thing. Without artifical scarcity, some markets will just die, just a computer being able to entertain tailored to the audience, with all tools, not needing a connection just a seed. I wonder what happens, if a ChatGPT version specialized on Art downstream, just becomes the computer of startrek, capable to visualize all and everything on the holodeck without the need for artists.
qikInNdOutReply··on Programmer interrupted: The cost of interruption and context switching (2022)
The cause of all this is the grafted on management caste, that does not code. For them the whole endavour suspicously looks like not doing a thing, for to do a thing, there needs to be communication, information flowing up and down the hierarchy. Not some dude sitting there like a zen monk, reading, ocassionally typing. Slackers! Best load there calendars, to get them going..

qikInNdOutReply··on On the experience of being dirt-poorish, for people who want to be
You take nothing from society, you take from the environment, with several abstraction layers, some slaves, some robots, some wage-slaves, some pure abstractions like companies.

Society is not involved in this. Actual society only exists with everyones spare time and only connects to others in there spare time.

Nobody chose to be part of this machine, they all march at gunpoint of each other. If they had a choice, they would abandon the whole thing, be the cog, that with a last pling vannished into some dark corner.

To project emotions on this machinery is miss guided. The cattle farm feeding robot, does not appreciate the subjective warmth emotions those it feeds project on it. To bring morals into the whole affair as a engineer, is a lack of judgment.

Its a machine, nothing more nothing less.
