Why would the CIA be anti-nuclear in Germany?
q87b··on ‘It’s the Wild West’: Vienna’s spying problem spins out of control
> The German Greens are a particularly unsubtle example but there are others.

Got any reasonable substance to that wild and typically Russian troll claim?

q87b··on Why it’s necessary to shoot yourself in the foot
> You should use javac from the command line before using an IDE

That is how my university professor made whole semesters hate programming.

An IDE makes the entry into programming much easier and fun.

q87b··on Linux has achieved a 3% desktop market share
Both these things are very well possible on Linux. Maybe you are more concerned about specific applications which have not been ported by their developers?
q87b··on Macron floats social media cuts during riots
None of these alleged offenses justify punishment without a trial. None of them justify death.
q87b··on OtterCast: FOSS Audio streaming device running Linux using Sochip S3 SiP

I don't understand what this is and what it does? Can someone provide a ELI5?
q87b··on Sears offered complete houses in large DIY kits
Is this because the wood back then was old, naturally grown wood which is now depleted?
q87b··on A 5.7 Terapixel Mosaic of the Surface of Mars
"Free to access" in highly limited ToS is not free in a reasonable way when it comes to data.
q87b··on A 5.7 Terapixel Mosaic of the Surface of Mars
Correct.
q87b··on A 5.7 Terapixel Mosaic of the Surface of Mars
It's quite amazing and simultaneously ridiculous that we have a public 3D model of a distant planet at 5 meters resolution while the best available free and public models of Earth are at 30 meters.

q87b··on France legalizes remote camera and microphone activation in smartphones
The media was full of the concerns of the french population about the pension reform.
q87b··on Air quality monitors: paying more does not get you more accuracy
Easy solution though, just limit the scale's display to a magnitude that it can accurately measure reproducible.
q87b··on Google no longer automatically indexes websites?
I don't see the context here but if you want: guess why I never used it.
q87b··on Google no longer automatically indexes websites?
One should not need to use an account for Google to basically work.
q87b··on 1999 Game Developers Conference (GDC) Recordings Archive
Nice, thank you! For me there are several no-gos, such as advertisements and it not being FOSS but for the majority of people it looks like the perfect choice.
q87b··on 1999 Game Developers Conference (GDC) Recordings Archive
I can't think of any podcast app that supports that. They are meant to consume, present and harvest online feeds as their source.
q87b··on Twitter's Algorithm: Amplifying Anger, Animosity, and Affective Polarization
Discourse or Discord? Discourse is nicely searchable and in many ways more user-friendly and sustainable than mailing lists.
q87b··on Emissions are no longer following the worst case scenario
Future Person 2: "Yeah, some people were seriously deluded by conspiracy theories back then. I am glad we reached a scientific consensus where misguided hate and fascism are not a thing anymore."
q87b··on Emissions are no longer following the worst case scenario
> the media, as a group Is a ridiculously false assumption. You are also consuming some media, who are you to decide which publications fall into the bad group and which into the good group? Feelings of trust? Feelings of familiarity? Feelings of reassurance of existing viewpoints?

> It's not a debate. I am glad you do realise that human-induced climate change is real and a threat.

> Much (most?) of the info going into your brain is not just false, it's deliberately manipulative. You might want to find better sources of information then.

q87b··on Emissions are no longer following the worst case scenario
Just to makes sure no one things that this means that extra CO2 is good because of this: Elevated CO2 levels drastically change the climate and will make Earth inhabitable for humans at some point if not reduced. It's good for some plants in some places but their growth does not fix the underlying and future issues with CO2 in our atmosphere.
q87b··on Remembering the Golden Age of Airline Food
It's probably better for our habitable ecosystem though so in a backwards way anything that makes plane travel less of a convenient no-brainer is good.
