pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (November 2022)
Location: Gurugram, India (UTC +5:30), available for 4 hr overlap with PST working hours

Remote: Yes

Willing to Relocate: to

USA/Singapore/Netherlands/Australia/UAE/Germany

Technologies: React.js, Python, Rust, Solidity, Bitcoin Script

Email: kumar[at][qualified.gg](http://qualified.gg/)

Résumé: https://metametamate.notion.site/saurav-s-resume-8f71456ebb3...

I am a full stack web3 engineer with broad interest and 5+ years of experience working on products and building teams in the blockchain/cryptocurrency space. In my previous role, I helped ship one of the first Cosmos <> Ethereum bridges, Peggy.

I am looking for positions involving developing full stack applications and or technical product consulting.

pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: Find Side Project
Network with people whom you want to build a product for. For instance if you want to build a product for gym trainers, then book consultations with several of them online. If you want to build for C-suite then maybe get in touch with their chief of staffs on linkedin. Start the conversation. Don't be afraid to cold email people you want to talk to. A well written email can unlock access to opportunities.

Another good idea would be to attend demo days and see what people are building. There are several of these if you live in a tech hub.

Being an active listener on idea/tech podcasts also help. My favourite one these days is mfm https://twitter.com/myfirstmilpod

pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: What do you do and what's your consulting rate?
$500 per hour for coding up NFT contracts and building DeFi protocols.

I offer discounts for longer engagements and projects based in India.

pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: Remote workers in a non-tech city, what's your experience?
UP :)
pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: Remote workers in a non-tech city, what's your experience?
I'm a remote worker who lives in a small remote village in India. It's a bliss to experience the best of both worlds at the same time and staying connected to my cultural roots while doing the same work I used to do when I was in the US. I have always been a bit of a loner so not so much of a change in social life. When I see my fellow farmers tending to their fields and the kind of work satisfaction they have, I feel I lack that sort of dedication to my job, it might be the case of large disconnect between what I work on (blockchain tech) and where I live (farming village)
pragmaticpirate··on Facebook criticizes Apple’s iOS privacy changes with full-page newspaper ads
Who wrote at Ad copy? Too many repeating words "businesses" seems kind of nauseating.
pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: Where to host a research blog with code, latex, images and markdown?
What's worked for me is using Notion + cloudflare , see https://fruitionsite.com/ for tutorial.

Notion supports latex, images, markdown out of the box and is easy to maintain as well.

pragmaticpirate··on Tell HN: Check medium's localstorage if you use adblock
Despite the shortcomings medium continues to be one of the top domains posted on hn https://news.ycombinator.com/from?site=medium.com
pragmaticpirate··on 750M genetically engineered mosquitoes approved for release in Florida Keys
Is there really no world wide org which reviews proposals for genetic modification of species? Something within united nations perhaps ?
pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: How do you manage your newsletter subscriptions?
Yes similar in high level concept, but we are more focussed on curating and sharing collections of subscriptions.
pragmaticpirate··on Business software is so good now, that it’s competing with consumer software
Nice article. I'd love to see examples of people using slack for personal life. Don't know anyone who does this.
pragmaticpirate··on Google adds "Black-owned" business attribute to local listings
Both woke and racist subgroup of people are very happy with this decision. While the former knows where to go shopping, and latter is more aware of what to avoid.
pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: What are the Online Investing Courses you like?
The following youtube series is quite good

pragmaticpirate··on ThinkPads 2020 - X13 AMD - X1 Nano?
Does the 2015 model have better keyboard than the newer models ?
pragmaticpirate··on Ask HN: What interesting problems are you working on?
I am working on a solution for people to defeat procrastination. Here's how it works, you select a time slot for work, and we assign you an accountability assistant who will get on a call with you and keep in touch as often as necessary to keep you from procrastinating by holding you accountable for the task at hand.
