paranoidxprod··on Squarespace to Go Private in $6.9B All-Cash Transaction with Permira
I was just able to finish transferring out my .dev domain from Google to Cloudflare. I had started the process when SquareSpace first took them over but forgot to finish until I saw this, but I was able to transfer out my .dev domain!
paranoidxprod··on Superfile – A fancy, pretty terminal file manager
Seems like they're using Bubble Tea, a Terminal UI framework for Go. I've heard very good things about it and have been meaning to check it out.

paranoidxprod··on Dedoimedo reviews Wayland in 2024 and comes to sad conclusions
I think the problem is nobody actually wants to work on x11.
paranoidxprod··on Show HN: Balancing game for the mobile browser with increasing difficulty
Arrow keys also seem to work on Firefox 126 Beta / Linux for me
paranoidxprod··on Cosmic Desktop: Hammering Out New Cosmic Features
Yeah, I hold Super and drag Right Click to resize
paranoidxprod··on Cosmic Desktop: Hammering Out New Cosmic Features
This is actually similar to how I use Hyprland

Super + Left Click lets me drag a tiled window to a different location, while Super + Right Click lets me drag to resize. I usually do both with my keyboard but it's nice to have the option.

paranoidxprod··on Kickstart.nvim: Single file launch point for a personal Neovim config
kickstart.nvim has recently undergone a major update and is now much more comprehensive in explaining exactly what the configuration does.

kickstart.nvim can be installed with a single command and is super easy to start customizing. It isn't a full distribution, it's just a solid way to get started using Neovim!

paranoidxprod··on The KDE desktop gets an overhaul with Plasma 6
What compositor? I use Hyprland and Firefox/Chromium Picture in Picture, and as far as I can tell, works as expected. I just hit the PiP button and it pops the video out into a new tiled window that I can toggle floating if I want. Just tried on a windows machine and, as far as I could tell, it was the same.
paranoidxprod··on Kagi Sidekick (alpha)
Thank you for the explanation!

While I agree with others that AI can take away from a products core vision, I’ve been very happy with Kagi’s path and roadmap. I feel like the AI products that you guys have released have served well as complements to search, and hope the trend continues.

Hopefully this helps with indexing while offering a cool service to small creators!

Edit: I forgot to say, the change where a `?` appended to a search triggering the quick answers was an amazing change. I would love to see more features that can be invoked by appending or prepending to the search query.

paranoidxprod··on Show HN: Shadeup – A language that makes WebGPU easier
That was exactly it, and the video of it looks awesome!
paranoidxprod··on Htmx Is Composable?
In this example, the html for the card which looks different and the cart with the updated count could be returned. HTMX will swap both with the appropriate element based on the ids of the elements in the Dom and the elements being returned by the server and this won’t cause a whole page refresh or anything.
paranoidxprod··on Show HN: Shadeup – A language that makes WebGPU easier
I just checked on Linux Firefox and iOS Firefox and both loaded the background without issues.
paranoidxprod··on Htmx Is Composable?
As mentioned in that comment, there is hx-swap-oob, but there is also the official htmx multi-swap extension that makes this pretty trivial.

https://htmx.org/extensions/multi-swap/

In that example, you'd just send partials for the card and cart elements and they'll both be swapped out.

paranoidxprod··on The Aha Stack
I've been using JSDoc with tsserver and its been working great for development. Types from typescript are removed at compile time, so they just help with the dx around JS, but I've been noticing similar benefits just using JSDoc.
paranoidxprod··on Infocom’s code-porting tools for Zork and other games have been found
Well that's fun, I burnt the farm down though...
paranoidxprod··on StyleX – Meta's styling library
This and the rest of his content were very useful resources imo.

paranoidxprod··on Firefox has surpassed Chrome on Speedometer
I recently started using Sidebery over TST and found it much more customizable for how I use tabs. It's worth taking a look at if you haven't already.
paranoidxprod··on The concurrence of three climatic events
To add to this with an article I just found

“The [wet-bulb] temperature reading you get will actually change depending on how humid it is,” says Kristina Dahl, a climate scientist at the Union of Concerned Scientists. “That’s the real purpose, to measure how well we’ll be able to cool ourselves by sweating.”

paranoidxprod··on Wildfire Smoke in Northeastern US Visible on GOES East Images
I'm on Long Island and it feels like it's getting closer and closer to that.
paranoidxprod··on Brave Browser introduces vertical tabs
Just installed and configured Sidebery and after a few minutes I already feel like it completely outclasses TST for Firefox. Thanks for the recommendation!
paranoidxprod··on Own-goal football (2022)
He started not knowing a thing about soccer, but ended up knowing at least one thing about football.

paranoidxprod··on GitHub Accelerator: our first cohort and what’s next
Great to see Dioxus there. I was looking at Rust GUI libraries and Dioxus seemed like one of the most interesting to me, but still felt pretty early in development. I did notice in their 0.3 release post they mentioned "This release represents an absolutely massive jump forward for the Dioxus ecosystem. We hope to ship future features more quickly into stable now that many of the desired breaking changes have been incorporated into the core library." so I am excited to see how the project progresses!
paranoidxprod··on Perspective: Open Source WebAssembly-Powered BI
The site seems to load fine for me on Windows Firefox. Are you having the same error as the parent to your linked comment?

Edit: I see the other commenter and yes, the "treemap" is broken for me as well. Not something a noticed but you are correct.

paranoidxprod··on The Tantrum Venture Capitalists Threw over Silicon Valley Bank
I'm also curious why this was flagged
paranoidxprod··on Show HN: Sudoku with 0 Bells or Whistles
Personally, the banner ads at the bottom of the screen and ads for hints don't bother me at all. Most apps I find seem to have a system where you have to watch an ad after completing a puzzle or when you make a few incorrect guesses, which bother me. I do always appreciate when apps have an option to turn of ads for a buck or two so I'm sure others would appreciate that too. I'll be sure to check back in once I get a chance to play through a full game!
paranoidxprod··on Show HN: Sudoku with 0 Bells or Whistles
Really like the look of this based off images. Just downloaded on iOS and going to give it a try during my lunch. I've pretty much refused to play Sudoku on my phone due to the reasons you've listed. They all seem to have either massively intrusive ads, or they are ridiculously over designed. I'm looking forward to trying this out!

What do you mean by scrums being unfair? If you have any sources you'd recommend on this, it sounds interesting.
paranoidxprod··on What’s in a PR statement: LastPass breach explained
After doing some more research, I've pretty much come to the conclusion I should be using KeePass (or KeePassXC) but I wasn't really sure how I should go about syncing. I will definitely look into Syncthing, thanks!
