paines··on Mocl – a Common Lisp implementation for mobile platforms
Nice, and congrats to the wukix Team for their effort. However, will Apple accept those apps in it's store? There was this guy who wrote a game in Gambit Scheme (iirc) and was rejected back then. This seems to be the same process here (generate C code from Lisp and glue it toether with GUI code), just with CL.
paines··on Lisp Koans by Google
What is a Koan ?!?!
paines··on AppGratis pulled from the App Store. Here’s the full story
10 iirc, which is outrageous. Download a game with enough content which takes more than 10 minutes just to find out it sucks ass.

paines··on Chicken Scheme
For anyone who still has a GP2X lying around: I uploaded a Puyopuyo clone to http://dl.openhandhelds.org/cgi-bin/gp2x.cgi?0,0,0,0,25,2919 a week ago, written in Chicken + SDL. My first ever Scheme/Lisp project...
paines··on QEMU 1.4.0 released with 95% of native IO performance
This isn't just the fact as of this release. Xen is based on Qemu which can run e.g. Win7 paravirtualized on the same machine obtaining complete gfx or othe pci(-e) devices and run almost full speed. I am curious about the impact now that it is even faster.
paines··on Duke Nukem 3D Code Review
Not sure, but it could be something like Duff's Device. Look it up, it can be used for various things, like drawing and stuff.

paines··on What Ouya Isn't
>The one thing the author fails to address is what is actually revolutionary about the OUYA: It is a TV-based console without a developer licensing fee.

This is wrong ! You will have to pay 30% of each sold copy of your game to the big G ?!?

Source: For applications that you choose to sell in Google Play, the transaction fee is equivalent to 30% of the application price. You receive 70% of the payment and the remaining 30% goes to the distribution partner and operating fees. From: http://support.google.com/googleplay/android-developer/bin/a...

paines··on If you were involved in the OpenGL ES specification, you are an idiot
This all makes me wonder, is it hindering to learn open gl even if you want to develeop prmarily for android/iphone. On one hand I would say: Yes it is hindering. On the other hand, it feels like a good idea to learn open gl, in order to now how and what a rendering pipeline is, gl state machine, etc. What do you guys think ?

paines··on Intel significantly speeds up graphics under Linux (X.org)
So, as a Debian User, I can have use of this in 5 years.
paines··on What’s up with ARM
This biggest problem with ARM devices is, that the only devices out there for usage are embedded ones. Up to now there is only one Notebook out there (alwaysinnovating) which could be used as a computer on a daily basis. But IMHO 10'' is too small to do serious stuff. 13'' is minimum. Hope we will see them soon in the wild.
paines··on Depression May Be Foretold in How We Remember

paines··on Xfs is still faster but ext4 is catching up on large file creation
I was getting(IIRC) ext4_orphan_cleanup:deleting unreferenced inode XXXXXX messages, one after another after another, and always after a suspend. I waited a few minutes, which made me very nervous. No inputs would take actions besides MagicSysKey->Sync+Umount+Boot. I had this like 4-5 Times.
paines··on Xfs is still faster but ext4 is catching up on large file creation
What would that be ?

I am really interested to know. Right now I am running EXT4 on an SSD in my notebook. It performs well. Sometimes, after a suspend , I get a load of EXT4 error messages which are stalling the whole notebook. Hard resseting it, makes the error disappear. Up to now, no data loss. But anyway, this makes me a nervous and I am not sure if it is due to Kernel, SSD, Ext4 or the combination of all/any of them. I guess XFS is way out of my use point, but anyway, an option is an option.
