oaththrowaway··on YouTube is now blocking ad blockers so I make ads run faster
So why are they spying on me when I still pay them? Or are you going to still pretend that hasn't been brought up 3 times now? Or that there is no opt out for their other tracking?
oaththrowaway··on YouTube is now blocking ad blockers so I make ads run faster
No, you argued that my data wasn't worth anything. I argued that if it wasn't they wouldn't desperately try and get all my credit, medical, schooling, and browsing history.

What they do is incredibly immoral and despicable. There is no opt-out (even if I pay them money). Even if I never use their services they still try to vacuum up all my data.

Me watching a few YouTube videos a week is a better deal for them than it is for me.

But even if I pay them, they still collect my data. I lose either way. I'll pick the way that is better for me in that situation
oaththrowaway··on YouTube is now blocking ad blockers so I make ads run faster
If it has no value then why don't they stop?
oaththrowaway··on YouTube is now blocking ad blockers so I make ads run faster
But then Google won't know everything about me so that would be immoral of me to do

I don't consent on every other site that uses google analytics? And last time I checked, consent isn't implied.

They harvest everything I do online without my consent or permission without paying me. Fair is fair

oaththrowaway··on U.S. military members' personal data being sold by online brokers
Why do the states with "good" gun laws have worse gun violence?
oaththrowaway··on U.S. military members' personal data being sold by online brokers
Depending on the state yeah
oaththrowaway··on U.S. military members' personal data being sold by online brokers
To purchase a firearm from a store or any "licensed" individual (someone who has an FFL: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_Firearms_License) you must pass a background check done by the FBI. You can read more here: https://www.fbi.gov/how-we-can-help-you/more-fbi-services-an...

If you buy a gun from someone on a classifieds site or friend/family, in most states you don't have to get a background check to transfer ownership of the firearm. This is typically the "loophole" that people refer to when they want Universal Background Checks.

I'm not sure what you mean by buying illegally - whether you mean to someone prohibited from owning firearms (like a felon or something), or buying "illegal" guns... Either way there are usually stiff penalties for owning restricted devices. For example if I were to 3D print an auto-sear for an AR-15 (making it full-auto), that's a ticket to a 10 year sentence in federal prison. Assuming I don't have the permission slip from the ATF. As for prohibited persons buying a firearm, I'm not sure what the penalties are, but at the least it'd be a violation of their release?

oaththrowaway··on The Married Introvert
That's probably exactly what happened. My time became more valuable and so I prioritized. I also got really good at getting things done in bursts.
oaththrowaway··on The Married Introvert
I'm not sure. It's probably a mental switch? Something happened pretty early on after my first kid and I really buckled down and focused on my career and personal goals and I've made the time. I do play a lot less video games though, I'm sure that helps as well.

> But no, I am not loyal to my wife because my lifestyle doesn’t offer me enough alternatives. That’s F’ed up. Being loyal and committed and being an introvert is also orthogonal by the way.

Yeah I thought that was borderline offensive.

Honestly I have found that I have been able to complete more personal projects since I've had kids.
oaththrowaway··on The Married Introvert
Snuggling/holding babies and toddlers is my favorite thing ever. If my kids never aged past 18 months I'd be happy forever. As my kids get older it's harder and I need that space.
oaththrowaway··on The Married Introvert
I am a "married introvert". My wife is very extroverted and works in sales. It was an adjustment for us at first to find a balance where we're both comfortable. I rarely meetup with my friends, sometimes lunch a few times a month, but that's about it. My wife has a large friend group that she spends a lot of time with and it works great for us. She gets her social needs fulfilled and I don't feel pressure to go out and socialize with her.

I use NewPipe on my phone, SmartTubeNext on my Android TV, and uBlock+FF inside of a container without being logged in on my laptop.

I was at a friend's house yesterday and they showed me a video on YouTube. I couldn't believe how many ads there were. It was unwatchable. Not sure how people don't pay for premium or block ads. What a miserable experience.

oaththrowaway··on Tesla urges US to adopt much tougher fuel efficiency rules
What is a legitimate need in your book? I don't use my truck to tow a lot of stuff (besides a boat which you probably don't think is legitimate either), and I don't go off-roading much except for deer season (again, I'm sure that's terrible for you), but it does get used for hauling things in the bed that wouldn't be able to fit in my car quite a bit.

I get people don't like using them for commuters and I agree, but to argue there is no use for them besides towing or going off-roading is absolutely silly to me. But maybe because I'm an idiot who lives in a rural area.

Maybe if he was as self-serving as you thought he'd continue to live a comfortable life while destroying the rule of law that we pretend to have instead of having to abandon his home and never again be able to see his country or friends again?
