Reality Labs (AR/VR) hit less hard than the rest of the company. No one on my team or adjacent teams let go.
Most bootcampers (unallocated new hires) are gone, even ones that were performing well.
Low performer from my past team outside RL was let go, so it appears performance was a factor for a lot of roles, rather than just axing entire teams based on business need.
edit: updated to clear up some confusion about the meaning of RL and bootcampers

I'm a millennial and I use Instagram (mainly stories) as the primary tool for keeping in touch with people. It's easier to share an image, maybe with a short caption, rather than composing a post, and consuming friend's stories are quicker than text posts since you don't need to read. It's a more efficient/faster way to know what my friends and family are up to and it prompts me to communicate with them more.
I may be an outlier but I'm very bad at remembering to text/call/email friends if I don't see them regularly, so following them on IG helps a lot.

It was known that these companies actively work with the CCP against US interests, which is the same thing happening with TikTok now.
I'm less optimistic on the VR takeover, but I can imagine a future where VR headsets would be preferable to using laptops for daily use, and the same thing applies there.
As someone who works for Meta and and sees all the privacy trainings and the hoops you have to jump through to do anything with user data anymore at this company, someone is definitely getting fired for this if it was indeed Meta's fault and intentional.
