niclupien··on How github was hacked
It's definitely the responsibility of the developer to know the security vulnerabilities and the guidelines of the tools he uses. Every serious frameworks have documentation on them and it is generally easy to find.

If the developer choose to ignore it, is the framework responsible of his action? I don't think so. Like other commenters have said, this is a beginner's mistake and they happen all the time. I don't understand how Rails can be blamed for this. They have done their duty by documenting the issue and it's easy to find (tell me who develops in Rails and is unaware of these guides?)

By the way, this feature is also known in Spring MVC (http://www.springsource.com/security/spring-mvc) and affect frameworks based on it too (ex: Grails). They state this is a "usage issue" and not a bug in the framework.

niclupien··on Ask HN: Did you learn a language this year?
I learned Ruby. I've used Grails a lot on the past but it's to heavy for my new projects. I decided to take a look at Sinatra and found out that Rails was actually the perfect fits for my needs. I also learned Sass and Coffeescript.
niclupien··on I'm a web designer
When I read things like that, it remember me the times I had a job i disliked. There is sometimes lot of pain when working with customers, some of them really want their music playing on that webpage. You have to remember who you work for and who are your customers. If these people are your customers, maybe you can change the message your giving to be more constructive. If they aren't, well i'm wondering why you hate those people so much.
niclupien··on What Programming Language to Learn (Next)
I'm not sure why you should learn ruby only if you do web things. Is it true ? Is ruby only useful in web projects ?
niclupien··on Ask HN: What are you reading right now?
1984, Gorges Orwell

iPhone users now have a new excuse : "Sorry I didn't call you before, I forgot my iPhone gloves at home"
niclupien··on Awesome web development productivity tools
I guess it depends on what you need. Most of them are helpers to create quick applications, ideal for startup and prototypes. Writing less code also mean writing less bugs. When I create a stylesheet, it may take a while to get feedback if it doesn't work on a obscure browser version while a bug in Twitter's bootstrap will be detected (and probably fixed) a lot sooner.
niclupien··on STFU & Make Awesome Stuff
I don't get the message.
niclupien··on The HTML5 Development Reading List
Nice post, now i can keep up with the fast evolution of the frontend, while i'm working on backends. I'd like too add : watch the html5bp repo on github, lots of reading there too.
niclupien··on E-learning is dead ?
This wasn't our goal. We have been creating elearning materials for teachers, not softwares. This is our first software project and it's open source (https://github.com/niclupien/ticavie-tree).

I posted here to find people interested in our project not to find customers.

niclupien··on Groovy 1.8.0 final is released
Grails is still my favorite web framework.
niclupien··on NetBeans 7.0 released
Netbean's text looks fine to me on my ubuntu box which i use every day at job.
niclupien··on Who's behind Facebook clickjacking scams?
Whats the point of this scam ? Does this guy gain money from this or he is just glad to piss off lots of people ?
niclupien··on Insane HTML5 take on Google's interface
This made my day, it's giving a personnality to the system i use the most. It is so tired of crawling the web to find me results that it makes typo... it is very human. And the quicktime stuff shows its very lazyness. When computer will make mistakes and have emotions they will be more understood by everybody. I read that somewhere in an old book.
niclupien··on [dead]
I understand its not hacker stuff but it was entertaining!
niclupien··on Ask HN: Do you meditate? How/Why?
I use to meditate a lot. Now it's like 2-3 times a week. The difference between when im not meditating is of course a lot of reduced stress. I just have a clear sight of everything happening, the solution to problems are always obvious. This is a great feeling and this is why i enjoy and i encourage you to meditate. What to do is simple, there is plenty of meditation you can find on the web. Just find one you like and do it. Do it a lot like for 2 years and master it. Once you master it, it will be natural for you to get this state of mind, this lucidity, even when you are not meditating.
niclupien··on An iPhone Lover’s Take On The Nexus S
One question : If you had bought an Android phone before your iPhone and you were accustomed and comfortable with it, do you think you would say the same thing ?
niclupien··on Apple sued over spying mobile apps
It was about time!
niclupien··on Look at my silly idea
That's it. I'm doing a "buy a pixel" ... and with an little extra to choose color, of course.
niclupien··on Ubuntu moving to rolling release?
I like new releases. It's like a brand new ubuntu with better feature and everything. A release is an event.
niclupien··on Ubuntu moving to rolling release?
I agree
niclupien··on We've launched.... now what? (iPhone game)
This is exact sentence i'm afraid i would say someday, after i'll release next my app for android : Now what ?

The market is huge, how can our apps find their way up ? One solution i can think of is to release it for free and only if it get popular, add a paid version. But I don't think this is affordable for lots of project. Any other ideas ?

niclupien··on Please review my distro (if you are a musician)
Well, if you are familiar with other audio distribution out there (ubuntu studio, 64 studio), this mean a lot.

This is a system (obviously a linux one) configured for low latency (save me lots of time and messy config) work out of the box (no other download required to go and play)... say no more, i get it.

But i agree that i was looking for something more elaborated, something which tell me exactly what it use and what it does. Why should i use it over ubuntu studio etc.
