ng-user··on Apple Watch Adoption
Good to know, thanks for your response!
ng-user··on Apple Watch Adoption
Hmmm, that's pretty sweet. As an S8/Samsung Gear/Spotify user I'll have to serious consider switching to iPhone/Apple Watch/Apple Music... thanks!
ng-user··on Apple Watch Adoption
I'm not too familiar with the Apple ecosystem, although I own a pair of Airpods & an S8, they work surprisingly well together.

Is it possible to store music for offline playback on the Watch and pair it with your Airpods for listening on the go? I'm not a fan of running/cycling with my phone so a Watch/Airpod combo sounds super useful to ditch the phone. I understand I'd need an iPhone for the Watch but I'm just curious if this use case would be possible.

ng-user··on TechCrunch redesign is terrible
Viewing on a vertical browser is awful... there's two columns - one on the left-hand side about 60% of the view port which contains every little piece of content and the 40% remainder on the right-hand side is completely blank white space.

I've got an adblocker enabled so perhaps the right-hand side is supposed to be littered with ads? Either way the readability factor has been thrown out the window, thankfully FireFox's reader view comes in handy again.

I don't have a link right now (youtube though) but I saw a couple do this with 'cat food' and it ultimately resulted in a brigade of ads despite not owning a cat.
ng-user··on iPhones may shut down in cold weather
I've got an S8 and had no problems this winter using it while skiing.

The lowest temperature I was out in was -25C, I think keeping it on your body is the best way to combat the temperature issue.

The article explicitly states that is NOT the company, but rather another company with exact same name.

That's what I thought as well but cannot confirm.

ng-user··on California to allow testing of self-driving cars without a driver present
> Less edge cases to deal with

I believe this is wildly inaccurate.

We already have the infrastructure for self-driving vehicles. How do you handle a mechanical failure of your personal flying drone? Does it drop you to the ground or on a group of pedestrians nearby? This surely only increases anxiety of people walking below. What is the recommended height for a self-flying drone? 100's of ft above ground? Not to mention there are no drones (to my knowledge) that can legally transport a human today in 2018, how long until we develop/regulate that technology? (I understand it's the same with self-driving vehicles but we've been working on this for _years_ already and things have improved significantly in that time period)

While I like your outside the box thinking, I disagree with the notion that there are less edge cases than self-driving cars, at minimum it's on par with the same amount of edge cases as self-driving vehicles.

Or food products that contain a label "Not for resale"... I know a lot of Costco products have this because they sell large quantities, but how is that actually enforced?

ng-user··on Ask HN: Anyone else having YouTube remove private videos?
From what I've heard/read the process is very opaque and you may never truly know why it was removed, or flagged.

Why not back them up to some physical storage you're able to control rather than letting a 3rd party delete your backups on a whim?

ng-user··on Ask HN: Would you pay for a better note-keeping solution?
My advice, build it.

If no one ever spends a dime on the service, you've always got one happy customer (yourself). Don't think about customers, build it for yourself and solve your own use case. If it's a good product, customers will find you/it. As soon as you get into tailoring it towards the needs of paying customers you've lost your original battle of creating something you enjoy for your own needs.
