nelsonfigueroa··on Leaving Neovim for Zed
I like Zed too and use it on a daily basis. I've always wanted to take the opposite journey where I leave Zed/Sublime for Vim. While I have always to become a Vim expert, I never put in the time. There just hasn't been a situation in my career where I wish I could type faster than my thoughts. But maybe I'm just a scrub in this field.

I've tried several of these but this one actually felt like a roast

nelsonfigueroa··on Spotify is increasing US prices again
Spotify is the only subscription I pay for and it's getting harder to justify. I listen to smaller artists that don't get much income from Spotify anyway. Perhaps I should continue buying their music on Bandcamp and get rid of Spotify altogether.

nelsonfigueroa··on Coding interviews are stupid (ish)
I'm currently going through these leetcode-style interviews and it's demoralizing studying for quizzes I know I'll never use on the job. I think knowing this makes it harder to motivate myself to study, which in turn means I fail more interviews. I think I'm just trying to get lucky at this point.

I know I can write code. I know I can work with the cloud. I know I can talk to stakeholders and gather requirements. But yet I am treated like a new grad in the interview process.

nelsonfigueroa··on Data collection should always be opt in
Totally agree with the sentiment and the project linked at the bottom of the article is pretty neat. It does feel a bit hopeless to rely on robots.txt to deter AI bots but I guess it's better than nothing. Appreciate the effort.

Wow, what a read. Thanks for sharing.
nelsonfigueroa··on Monolith – CLI tool for saving complete web pages as a single HTML file
I just found myself archiving fewer things over time and it’s been a while since I’ve saved anything. There’s nothing wrong with it though. In fact, I still have it on my machine.
nelsonfigueroa··on Monolith – CLI tool for saving complete web pages as a single HTML file
I've used ArchiveBox in the past and it's been great for this purpose: https://github.com/ArchiveBox/ArchiveBox

I'm looking for primarily remote roles although I don't mind meeting up in the office every now and then. Specially if the office is near me in Los Angeles. Thanks!

nelsonfigueroa··on Everyone Wants Your Email Address. Think Twice Before Sharing It
It seems like some backend code could easily strip the “+” and everything after it before saving an email to a database. Not sure how viable this is but I’ve also never tried it.

nelsonfigueroa··on GameStop Ends NFT Marketplace, Is This Beginning of the End?
I was just about to post this too. Highly recommend this video.
nelsonfigueroa··on Super Mario 64 on the Web
This is amazing but I'm guessing it won't be long before Nintendo takes it down.
nelsonfigueroa··on Freetar – an alternative front end for ultimate-guitar.com
Ultimate Guitar has gotten worse over the years. I noticed they're featuring TikTok-like videos on their home page now which gave me a laugh. I switched to Songsterr a while back and it's amazing. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for tabs.

nelsonfigueroa··on Ask HN: Is the market bad, or am I having the worst luck job hunting?
Are you on LinkedIn? I am not currently looking for a job but I still get a lot of recruiters on LinkedIn reaching out to me. I get the impression that there are still a lot of opportunities out there. But then again this may not be the case in your location.
nelsonfigueroa··on Show HN: Hacker News user blogroll
If you ever want to try a new static site generator, I use Hugo[0] to generate my site. There's a lot of pre-built themes[1] you can use. Most (if not all) have blogging functionality built in, all you need to do is drop in a Markdown file with your content. You may need to learn a little bit if Golang if you want to customize themes. Just throwing it out there as an option.

nelsonfigueroa··on Show HN: Hacker News user blogroll
I took at look at your website and it seems like you could easily add blog posts to it!
nelsonfigueroa··on Ask HN: Could you share your personal blog here?
https://nelson.cloud I mainly write about things I learn about in the field. I am slowly putting up more opinions/thoughts.

Some of my fav blogs are:

nelsonfigueroa··on Ask HN: What has your personal website/blog done for you?
My blog over at https://nelson.cloud has helped me get new jobs. When I was interviewing for my current job, one of the interviewers mentioned that he was happy to see I was running a blog. Blogging has also helped me become a better writer and reinforce my own knowledge (which is the primary reason why I started it).

I keep my blog technical but maybe I'll write about different topics in the future. It seems like you can make new connections when being more vulnerable on your blog, just based on what I've seen from others that are more open online.

nelsonfigueroa··on California announces DMV-run blockchain through partnership with Tezos
This was my first thought as well. I don't see what a blockchain will provide that a database can't.
