mpg33··on The state of Mac gaming
Well it's probably because all of their computers are prebuilt with relatively weak gpu's for gaming..even if they had prioritised it through the software how many people would game on their hardware.

Though now with thunderbolt 3 and external gpu's I think some of that excuse is gone away.

mpg33··on Time Warner will spend $100M on Snapchat original shows and ads
Same thing when Microsoft launched Xbox One in 2013. They talked about TV content that they would be investing in. I was just thinking...why are you getting involved in making TV shows?..you and Sony effectively have a duopoly on the console AAA games market...it's a gaming machine, if anything you should be investing in gaming content.
mpg33··on Dell’s 32-inch 8K UP3218K Display Now for Sale
holy shit...look at the size of the taskbar
mpg33··on Programming won’t be automated, or it already has been
Programming seems like a thing that would be ripe for automation...
mpg33··on Nintendo to Double Production of Switch Console
yeah...it's just that a lot of people already have at least a 5" smartphone and/or tablet (tablet sales have been shrinking due to this) so I don't know how much of the tablet aspect is appealing nowadays...3 years ago it would have been a bigger deal
mpg33··on Nintendo to Double Production of Switch Console
Zelda at launch was a strong boost...and I suspect they will get another boost at holiday season when Super Mario Odyssey comes out. But there are a lot of months in between that are not filled in with much...

Since the console is not likely to get any 3rd party AAA games Nintendo is going to have to court nearly every indie dev + churn out as many first party titles as possible.

Also I'm hoping for a $50 price drop after Christmas...

mpg33··on Nintendo to Double Production of Switch Console
I don't think launch sales are a good indicator to go by...

There is enough of a hardcore Nintendo fanbase to buy up initial launch supply.

Let me know of the sales in July.

mpg33··on CIA malware and hacking tools
So Trump is simultaneously a complete incompetent blowhard and pulling off these mastermind plans??
mpg33··on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Review
can be hard to find though...I mean Nintendo effectively discontinued it so it isn't on any retailer shelves now.
mpg33··on Nintendo Switch review: pure potential
That and a $50 price drop...
mpg33··on The new Nokia phones are here: Nokia 6, 5, 3 & 3310
I have both a "dumbphone" and a smartphone. But honestly, if you want a dumbphone get something like an old BlackBerry Curve. That way you still retain full keyboard capabilities instead having to use T9 for texting.
mpg33··on Wall Street Is Giving Up On Twitter
I don't even think the product is bad...they just haven't been able to discover a successful business model.
mpg33··on [dead]
These blanket platitudes are kind of annoying...the same liberals who like saying this stuff over and over in Canada also have damaging policies towards the economy in general.
mpg33··on Inside the Tesla 100kWh Battery Pack
that seems like a terrible idea?
mpg33··on iPhone at ten: the revolution continues
> Apple is betting heavily on wireless, and lightning headphones is just a stop-gap solution while wireless headphones improve. A way for people to be able to buy some cheap, simple headphones to replace the bundled ones if they need to. If you buy an expensive lightning-only headphone you're a fool.

They could have made the transition much better if they just included Airpods with iphone 7 onward..

mpg33··on First Nokia-branded Android smartphone to be released exclusively in China
BlackBerry essentially killed itself in a few shorts years (basically 2007-2010) by not seriously reacting to iphone and android. I'm convinced if a blackberry 10 OS phone had come out in 2010 they might have held on to market share....but it wasn't released until early 2013...way to late.
mpg33··on Apple cuts Tim Cook's pay 15% for missing sales goals
Ports aren't really an issue to me...in a couple of years everything will be USB-C and/or wireless charging/headphones anyway.

Big issue is Apple has no new innovative products. Apple Watch isn't really enough of new product to drive iphone like sales at least not yet and there is nothing else on the horizon.

mpg33··on Apple to slice iPhone production 10% due to sluggish sales
I'm guessing iPhone 8 will be a enough significant design change to maintain sales.

However we are getting to the point with smartphones like we did with PC's ten years ago where they just became "good enough" for everyday use so the constant upgrades were less necessary for normal use.

mpg33··on In Canada 50Mbps internet now considered a basic service
Still on 3G in Toronto?? Weird considering almost every carrier has Southern Ontario blanketed with LTE..
mpg33··on AMD Gives More Zen Details
If the the brief benchmarks they showed at the event are true it is roughly equal to a i7-6900k when both are at base clocks.
mpg33··on India has launched a 648MW solar power plant
Still feel adding solar to rooftops is better - just in terms of space utilized - than these giant solar farms..
mpg33··on SpaceX plans worldwide satellite Internet with low latency, gigabit speed
Am I the only one that thinks Elon Musk is scattered and overextended? Literally a new grand idea every few months..
mpg33··on Soylent halts sales of its powder as customers keep getting sick
Although I'd imagine a liquid diet where you are mainly only consuming smoothie type beverages has to be less hard on your digestive system just because of the simply fact it requires less effort to break down?
mpg33··on Soylent halts sales of its powder as customers keep getting sick
I'm not even a "foodie" person and the idea of just eating these meal replacements all the time seems like being in "food prison."
mpg33··on Macbook Pro Touch Bar runs watchOS
Touch Bar is cool but it seems like a solution in search of a problem..
mpg33··on Plans for an electric car charging point in every new home in Europe
Even if you're not a leftist you can see there would be a much higher efficiency of people only having a car when needed. You only have to look at driveways and parking lots to see how inefficient car use is currently.
mpg33··on Brains of overweight people look ten years older than those of lean peers
Well imagine the brain loses out over nutrients/resources in an obese person more so than a smaller person...
mpg33··on How the food lobby fights sugar regulation in the EU [pdf]
I agree very much with that. But what if food manufacturers come up with new ingredients that escape the tax legally and those ingredients are actual worse for you?
mpg33··on How the food lobby fights sugar regulation in the EU [pdf]
I'm not sure if there should be a tax on sugar. But I definitely think that products should have a large visible colorful graphic on the front showing the amount of sugar content.. separate from the basic black and white nutritional info label.
mpg33··on Google Profits Surge on Strong Ad Demand
What? That's seems absurdly high..
