molecule··on Ask HN: Is Vagrant dead or dated? Do people still use it?
> You could probably achieve something similar with Docker, but then you'd have to customize the mounts and deal with it ending up in different paths on different developers' machines & such.

Docker Compose can configure volumes via relative paths, e.g. './' and '../'

The solution for that problem is addressed by the author, volume sharing of the app directory:

For VirtualBox alone, using NFS sharing is significantly faster.

For Docker, dlite uses NFS and doesn't require VirtualBox.

molecule··on Ask HN: Do you ask to use cookies or check IP?
That's correct.

https://www.cookielaw.org/the-cookie-law/

> It started as an EU Directive that was adopted by all EU countries in May 2011. The Directive gave individuals rights to refuse the use of cookies that reduce their online privacy. Each country then updated its own laws to comply. In the UK this meant an update to the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations.

...

> All websites owned in the EU or targeted towards EU citizens, are now expected to comply with the law.

molecule··on 1.37bn records from somewhere to leak on Monday
1. The article's headline seems misleadingly sensational: a news article on a leak of 1.37b records from somewhere will be released tomorrow, NOT the records themselves will leak tomorrow.

2.

> 1.4 billion identity leak story incoming Monday morning.

> He later offered a teaser of the leak, also reducing the number of identities by 30,000.

1.4b minus 1.37b is 30,000,000.

molecule··on Ask HN: Is it ok that founders are taking to social media about politics?
> Is it fair that technology company founders are taking to social media and claiming that their entire company is against Trump's executive order? This feels like the definition of entitlement and quite honestly hypocrisy. As long as you prescribe to the founders political beliefs all good. Think if you're an employee of any of these company's and support Trump how'd you feel. Vilified... Alienated. Causing a stressful work environment...
