Self driving car would have been disruptive to their business model. Their biggest cost is drivers comp. Getting rid of drivers would boost their profit by an incredible amount. Not to mention all the political issues surrounding driver as contractors or full time employees with benefits.
Saying that TikTok employs 130 CCP members doesn't mean much. How many Republicans and Democrats do a typical American company employ?Maybe they don't talk about politics at work in China either?
Trampling on WeChat users' first amendment rights would be a violation. Many of the users are American citizens, like myself. I'd like to talk to my grandparents and cousins in China. They don't or can't use other social networks, so WeChat it is.
Let me guess. Single male, able body, no kids. When you have kids, you'd appreciate having a car/rent a car/uber when grocery shopping for example. And the city is full of people with kids. We are not the minority here. Not everyone is interested in a scooter that is inherently unsafe at moderate speeds.
That doesn't seem to be mainland/CCP's fault. The big real estate developers (the Lee, Kwoks families, etc) owns much of the properties. Why is mainland China the target for inequality and housing issue to blame? I have no stake in this fight, just curious.
Word of advice. If someone is paying you for a service (Lyft in this case), you really should think twice, three times, four times, before you disparage them in public. Live and learn. Good luck.
