I tend to always go lazy over biased. More and more it is show reports follow narrative in many cases I am convinced it is because they can copy and paste about 2/3rds of the words in their stories that define the narrative. Also why Twitter gets cited so much you can easily find XXXX says XXXX on it.

So strange, all this noise over opt-in media. It isn't like substack pushes you to a front page with "offensive" people above the fold or tries to direct your traffic to people or only shows you what they want you to see.

That fear is overblown due to media focus. Attacks against Asians happen, but not in numbers that should make anyone hesitant to live here. If the media publicized every vending machine that crushed someone people would be scared of them, but the reality is different

America should allow open immigration from Hong Kong for a year. China by all rights has a claim to the land. But the people who want freedom should have it and we should take them in.

Sure, but it isn't just legal it's better (in some ways) than most things in the same class. Amazon tracks you and makes you work harder, but compensates you better and doesn't fuck around with hours as much as other jobs in the same fields. It does seem unfair to target them specifically.

It doesn't. The rules people claim are the rules aren't the rules. There is a different set of rules, but they change all the time so you have to be on top of it and follow those. It sounds hard, but really you just do what everyone else is doing and you will be fine. Step outside what everyone else is doing and you are at risk.

I feel the same way. I kinda feel like big tech duped me into buying into the FUD about net neutrality. I was a huge supporter of it and thought when Trump came into office the net would get segmented up. When it didn't happen I felt like I was taken for a ride.

Amazon told diapers.com sell to us or we will sell diapers at below cost until you run out of money. Maybe I am just old and the "real" world seems much more legit than the social media world. Sure Facebook bought a lot of companies, but there isn't a ton they do to smoosh them together. They seem pretty independent. Facebook's ability to kill seems weak. TikTok is still doing well and Reels didn't eat into them. Clubhouse is new and up and coming. Much more competitors than new search engines (which isn't even what Google really is anymore). Apple does have more a variety and mix of competition as well as less market share than the other Tech giants.

Facebook seems like the least of the big techs that are the most abusive of monopoly (outside of netflix). Google is by far the most abusive, Apple is the most locked down, Amazon is the most disruptive. Facebook is just for casual communication and isn't as business impacting.

People don't like to do transactions. It taxes our brains and makes us make decisions constantly. We like all you can eat and watch as much as you like. Paying for things sucks even if you just pay small amounts.

Having a censor mindset is going to be destructive to Twitter and the userbase. Now everyone is going to want to find and ban anyone who they see as violating rules. Making PR issues as they go to the media saying XXX was banned, but not YYY who is just as bad as worse. A huge Pandora's box has been opened.
