matchbok··on Show HN: I made a modern web UI for Wikipedia
Hamburger button menus do not belong on the web. Ever.
matchbok··on Android 12L and new Android APIs and tools for large screens
Instead of fixing the myriad issues with Android, they do stuff like this, for phones that nobody buys.

Geez. Fix basic navigation. Fix the apps getting restarted on rotation. Fix the fact that you need 100 support libraries to build anything. Get rid of "context", which feels like something from 1998.

matchbok··on Aspirin About-Face
Please no FB content here.
matchbok··on Lab-grown meat may never be cost-competitive enough to displace traditional meat
That amount of protein is entirely, totally unnecessary.
matchbok··on Building apps in minutes, not months
Pretty neat, but like all these very similar tools, they seem built around TODO apps. These are only suitable for PoC apps. If that's the case, is it more difficult to learn this new thing, or just prototype something in React? I'm guessing the former.
matchbok··on The Matrix was a metaphor for transgender identity, director confirms (2020)
Please. Wand/broomstick stuff isn't anything novel. The rest is a stretch, obviously a desire to put more meaning into regular stuff.
matchbok··on Did your Google Clock app alarm not go off? You are not alone
Most of Android extremely shoddily built. This is not surprising.
matchbok··on Bigger vehicles are directly resulting in more deaths of people walking
Very myopic. In many areas, there simply isn't room for any more roads. Like most urban areas. Try again.

You seem to have failed at living in transit-oriented places. I'll take walking to the grocery over sitting in highway traffic for 30 mins any day. Your entire life seems very oriented.

The average American spends like 2 hours a day commuting. You cannot honestly think that is a good use of time or life. Sounds depressing if you ask me.

matchbok··on Welcoming our first riders in San Francisco
Cities don't have the room for everyone to be driving a single occupancy vehicle point-to-point. There just isn't room.
matchbok··on Cyber Attack, Possible Serious Breach, at U.S. State Department
School choice doesn't work. The "success stories" are just funneling the smart kids into other schools while letting others fail while charter corporations make millions. The problem isn't the "school", it's poverty and the home situation.
matchbok··on Denser cities could be a climate boon – but nimbyism stands in the way
The entitlement here is scary. You have every right to buy the land under that tower and build something yourself.

If you choose not to do that, then you can be quiet about whatever happens there. It's not yours. Mind your own business.

matchbok··on React Native in H2 2021
RN is a solution in search of a problem.

Also, don't use FB things. They are not a good company.

matchbok··on Ad men sacked to improve gender pay gap win sex discrimination claim
Applying the general benefits of a whole group of people to individuals applying to jobs is wrong. And doesn't work. Every person has a unique experience.

Also, grouping "cis" in with all that is nonsense. Esp trans women, who seem to think they don't have all the benefits of being male. (Because biology is, in fact, real)

matchbok··on A quick guide to Stripe’s culture
Hate these things. Companies don't have culture. Every single one of these is the same, no matter what company it is.

Makes me wonder how much money some person with a BS job is wrting all this stuff.

matchbok··on Home Depot is introducing power tools that won’t work if they’re stolen
Simply incorrect. Many, many stores have closed or reduced hours in SF because of the rampant crime. No other city is doing that.
matchbok··on Apple is now an antifragile company
Have you used an Android phone lately?

There's just no comparison.

matchbok··on Building Adaptive Apps – Flutter
Reminder that Flutter's primary job is to remove control from the user in order to show them more ads. That's why it's all a canvas element.

Do not use it, do not support it.

matchbok··on A backlash against gender ideology is starting in universities
Nothing wrong with neo-liberal stances. I'll take that over the progressive left who seem to have missed every Econ class when they went to college (and operate exclusively on identity politics, like you)
matchbok··on A backlash against gender ideology is starting in universities
Again, no. One withdrawn article? That's it? Ok. They don't buy into the nonsense that males should be competing against females. Aka common sense.
matchbok··on A backlash against gender ideology is starting in universities
Not "allowed" to speak? Jesus, the hyperbole doesn't help your case. Trans people are a tiny, tiny minority. That doesn't mean these organizations are actively excluding them. Get a grip.
matchbok··on A backlash against gender ideology is starting in universities
They aren’t transphobic. They understand science. There’s a difference.
matchbok··on Brave Search beta
I can find that story on google just fine. Please take your right-wing conspiracies back to 4chan bud.
matchbok··on As religious faith has declined, ideological intensity has risen
What a bigoted and narrow-minded view of the world you have. This has no place on HN.

The fact that you take issue with abortion rights activists and not the right-wing protestors who have murdered doctors, shows your true, bigoted colors. Shameful.

matchbok··on In Response to Oversight Board, Trump Suspended for Two Years
Wow, such delusion here. I guess broken doors and windows means peaceful now? Police officers getting stomped on? Pepper sprayed? Breaking glass and destroying offices?

Do your research kid. I can only hope you are joking.

matchbok··on Snowflake CEO Says Worker Merit Should Outweigh Diversity Goals
Well, it's either that, or every company is extremely biased in hiring. Which is very, very unlikely as the numbers pretty much match the demographics of the talent pool.
matchbok··on Snowflake CEO Says Worker Merit Should Outweigh Diversity Goals
Everyone brings something to the table, regardless of their gender or ethnicity. It seems that you prefer to discriminate against certain people.
matchbok··on Snowflake CEO Says Worker Merit Should Outweigh Diversity Goals
Such an arrow view for someone. From what you see I take that you see no value in ensuring everyone has a fair shot at a job.
matchbok··on [dead]
You post a lot of right-wing nonsense and conspiracy theories. (That have nothing to do with tech)

Go back to breitbart and QAnon, please.

matchbok··on NYC's School Algorithms Cement Segregation. This Data Shows How
There's nothing inherently segregationist about these things. In the end, it's poverty that is driving these results. Setting a top 5% GPA rating in order to get into a school isn't segregation. The conflation of these things waters down the discussions on these topics.
matchbok··on How Intuitive Are Macs Really?
Still light years ahead of whatever they use on Windows. To each their own.
