Regarding comments, my wife and I practice the 'alternative method' and speaking from EXPERIENCE, IT IS EFFECTIVE. In fact, if you look at the numbers, it's more effective than IVF for achieving and 99% effective in preventing. Like all things, you have to understand what you're doing. So many of us are so quick to eat genetically engineered food or take contraceptives that may increase our risk of cancer (source:http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/factsheet/Risk/oral-contr...) but we aren't interested in a safe approach, which also is (and more importantly) falls into God's plan. The church does not have an obsession with sex. Rather, mankind has the obsession with sex and the church is trying to help us understand it's proper place. Since contraception has been widely adopted in the US, divorce, STDs, rape and illegitimate children has sky rocketted. Very unfortunate, but predicted in the 1960s in Humanae Vitae.

It's a long stretch to argue a decline in crime is attributed to drug use. Spin the numbers however you wish, it doesn't take a mathematician to figure out the truth... If I were in law enforcement, I'd feel pretty slighted that drug users figured out how to take credit for some of my work.

I asked a question yesterday that was voted to close within 5 minutes by an admin, followed by 3 more. It was a normal programming question in an area I needed help in. Luckily, several non-admins helped me out and answered my question. I consider myself an experienced programmer but programming is so broad and quickly evolving. Sometimes we just need a nudge in the right direction on new topics. I'm sure others are in the same boat. That is no longer acceptable with SO.

I used to be a daily visitor to SO and was active in the early days when Jeff and Joel were active and I felt part of the community. After recently seeing moderators rampantly closing questions as if to say 'I consider your question unproductive or unintelligent by my standards', I rarely visit.

Apparently Code Golf is considered a valid question while questions lacking extreme detail that may help people are not.....

Congrats Rob! I've had both tekpub and Pluralsight subscriptions over the years and was getting ready to sign up for one again. This makes the decision much easier. I always loved Tekpub's real-world style of teaching. Robs work over the years has really helped me grow as a developer. Joining forces will really help the development community as a whole. Great move Rob and Aaron!!

Surface RT owner here (freebie). LOVE the interface. Love the hardware (nice solid feel and excellent touch recognition). Wish kickstand would have 2 positions.. It's slower than a pro but I can deal with that. Crappy cameras, but not a show stopper.

My main beef why I can't recommend it is compatibility. If that was addressed, the number of apps would skyrocket and I'd be a huge fan.

You would think since MSFT is late to this market, putting in a low-medium cost, highly functional tablet to reverse the trend to apple and google would allow them to catch up quickly. The pro price is currently on par to an Ipad. Hopefully CEO #3 will do that.
