luke2m··on Tell HN: Amazon Kindle's browser is not experimental anymore
I haven’t updated due to my jailbreak. Is this update available for the PW3? And is the browser still based on WebKit?
luke2m··on Bare metal Apple M1 Debian at 4K 60
Maybe not for new hardware, but in the future, mac users get the new M7 or whatever, and want to run a Linux desktop or server on their old hardware. And if this project gets stable enough, I would want to buy an old ARM mac to use as a linux machine.
luke2m··on System76 Pangolin Linux-first laptop with AMD internals now in stock
I got a 14 inch laptop with front speakers, and a 6 row keyboard. Since I came from a laptop with a 7 row, I actually would prefer to have one of those extra columns of keys that hp makes.
luke2m··on System76 Pangolin Linux-first laptop with AMD internals now in stock
I hope System76 adds a trackpoint/ pointing stick to their laptops or maybe the launch 2.
luke2m··on System76 Pangolin Linux-first laptop with AMD internals now in stock
They have gotten a lot better recently in my experience.

My Ideapad Flex 5 runs great (Ryzen 7 5700u), but fingerprint and autorotate do not work (yet). Otherwise, it is completely stable and everything works.
luke2m··on Ask HN: Why don’t you use Linux as your daily driver OS?
My Lenovo Flex 5 with Fedora 34 (GNOME) has an incredibly smooth trackpad experience. Also, GNOME sushi is a useful preview.app alternative, maybe not on the same level, but you should try it. I used Xfce before getting my new laptop, but on newish hardware, GNOME is great.
luke2m··on Show HN: Blur Webcam Background on Linux
Yep, and Google Meet always has for me (about half a year of using it).
luke2m··on Is there a way to stop news aggregs like HN to stop showing pay walled content
Yep, surprisingly many sites blur with css.
luke2m··on My MacBook Pro had over 10k USD in repairs
Buy a ThinkPad. Problem solved.
luke2m··on Home Lab Hardware Guide
Exactly. The point of homelabbing at that scale is to dig a fire pit with an excavator, in order to learn how to use said excavator.
luke2m··on Ask HN: Is the Wayback Machine Down?

luke2m··on Google docs on Firefox unusable for everyone, or just me?
See this: https://vivaldi.com/blog/user-agent-changes/ Google does this even on chromium based browsers!
luke2m··on Ask HN: Which social/history/tech podcasts worth listening?
For tech: anything from Jupiter Broadcasting.
luke2m··on Ask HN: Do you use a Linux-first laptop? (System76, Librem, Dell XPS Dev Ed)
A ThinkBook or IdeaPad might be better for you then, just MAKE SURE to get an Intel rather than Realtek wireless card or you will need to switch it yourself
luke2m··on Ask HN: Do you use a Linux-first laptop? (System76, Librem, Dell XPS Dev Ed)
If your MBP is semi old, please try a linux distro there before you buy new hardware. It might be all you need.
luke2m··on Zorin OS 16 is Released
yes, yes, yes, yes, no
luke2m··on Ask HN: Why does Zoom Desktop examine all processes and arguments?
> Is there any way to prevent it?

Use a flatpak

luke2m··on Ask HN: Does a service for a small, personal Linux machine in the cloud exist?
OCI signup was awful but free tier has been great so far.
luke2m··on Non-Exhaustive List of Amazon Trademarks
a.com?
luke2m··on Lenovo Selling Linux Laptops Directly in the US
This is why you always install your own OS on a new computer.
luke2m··on The Light Phone: Minimal Smartphone
And not just a decent camera, decent camera software is needed as well.
luke2m··on Black Hat USA 2021 Review
Firefox for Android seems to do this.
luke2m··on Abandoned Motorola Headquarters (2020)
I used to live down the road from moto headquarters and always wondered what it was like inside. This was very enlightening.
luke2m··on Australia is becoming a surveillance state
>let them modify and delete data

So there taking planting evidence digital?

luke2m··on Elementary OS 6 Odin
Why? Gnome web is actually simpler and easier to use than Firefox for elderly people. It performs surprisingly well, too.
luke2m··on The first two hours of MTV (1981) [video]
The very first song was "Video killed the Radio Star". How amusing. I'm sure, however, that today much more people listen to the radio than watch MTV.
luke2m··on Texas Instruments new TI-84 Plus CE Python graphing calculator
Exactly. If I was not required to, I would never have bought a TI. Gnome Plots or desmos are just so much more convenient.
