lexs··on COP26: Germany fails to sign up to 2040 combustion engine phaseout
According to official statistics [0] the Golf is still selling more than twice as many units per month and the ID3 is selling 50% more than the Model 3. The Model 3 is more comparable to the BMW i3 numbers wise.

lexs··on Apple-Epic judge asks why offering iOS users a choice is bad
Apple didn't buy the apps from the developers, they provide a marketplace. Don't most supermarkets own their inventory?
lexs··on Amazon workers vote against unionizing in Alabama
Especially in that region, I would take this vote rather as an indicator of the lack of alternatives. Amazon is so large that they could simply scrap that location without being that bothered, yet the workers do not have that freedom. The choice is between taking what you can get even if it is tied to bad working conditions or having nothing at all.
lexs··on Reddit valued at $6B on a $250M round
It's a shame that the third way to spend the money is totally forgotten now apparently. Yes you can re-invest, give back to shareholders, but why not increase wages?
lexs··on Terraria on Stadia cancelled after developer's Google account gets locked
A hosted Nextcloud with OnlyOffice/Collabora and a Mail Server? There's quite a few providers for that.

lexs··on A follow up to Coinbase being a mission focused company
So Individualism? That's pretty clearly a political philosophy / ideology.
lexs··on How tech workers at Kickstarter formed one of the only unions in the industry
Since we are exchanging anecdotes, this also happened at my non-union job.

They like the hardware maybe?
lexs··on Mackenzie Scott Gives $1.7B to Historically Black Colleges and others
What is a pseudo-degree?
lexs··on Google faces €600k privacy fine in Belgium
At least in Germany that is due to the fact that taxes and afaik fines are not directly used for such things but are added to the budget which then in turn is used to fund these things
lexs··on I Just Hit $100k/year On GitHub Sponsors

lexs··on New Facebook tool allows employers to suppress “unionize” in workplace chat
Unions are not only about compensation but also terms of employment. I see enough discussions on HN about non-competes, forced arbitration etc. where unionising would help.
lexs··on Uber and Lyft drivers are employees, California regulatory agency finds
Is that really a realistic driver scenario or was that the nice story told by Uber? From my (limited) experience with Uber drivers, none of them only "drove an extra 15min out of their way" on their normal commute, nothing even close to it. It was a job like any other for them.

lexs··on Apple Mac Pro Wheels Kit
This was a funny bit, ...right?
lexs··on On responses to “Bye, Amazon”
Package delivery is actually a good comparison. Socialising amazon would simply add a warehousing portion to it.
lexs··on Rules of thumb for a 1x developer
> I have time for both jobs, coding on the side, spending time with my kids, helping my wife prepare dinner, and so forth.

Genuinely curious, how are two full white-collar jobs in parallel even physically possible? Are they remote with completely flexible hours and not full time?
