So the bottom line is that a left-wing activist put out some lies in order to discredit Musk, and every single reader of the original misinformation piece swallowed it without any attempt to analyze it critically. And they say that right-wingers are the ones who are more amenable to propaganda?
Yet everyone's conclusion is, as usual, Musk bad. Nobody cares about left-wing fakes news if they are useful to the agenda being pushed forward.
I think you are overreaching a bit. The term 'quarter' in 'give no quarter' derives from the French 'quartier', which referred (in military jargon) to a section of a city or military encampment. Prisoners would be kept in 'quartier de sauveté' and 'donner quartier' is short for 'donner quartier de sauveté'.
So I disagree that this is an echo of the PIE meaning. The most likely semantic development is that 'quartier', originally a quarter of something (the fourth part), came to denotate any fraction of a whole, and then was specialized in the military lexicon.
No offense but why don't you memorize the songs by singing them instead? I memorized hundreds of songs just by being a dad and singing to my kids every evening. Of all the things you'd want to remember, song lyrics look to me to be the easiest by far.
If you need AI to understand and answer interview questions, you are probably among the weaker candidates. Why would the company give you money? Why not hire someone who is smart and skilled enough to think by himself, and then if he uses AI to increase his productivity that's great! AI is not a replacement for your brain, otherwise why would we hire people at all?
The context of the conversation was evidently the United States of America. If you knew anything about the history of Africa (where most "Black" men live), you would know that the horrific crimes committed by Black individuals in the last decades are several orders of magnitude worse than anything any Israeli has ever or will ever do.
You are not unbiased, you are simply ignorant - which is pretty much the same thing, according to the article we are discussing here.
I wouldn't say the author's style is unique or individual in any way. Every single tumblr blog sounds like that. You could easily create a "make edgy" function that would feed your formal writings and turn them into that kind of prose. Is it better or worth than "polish"? There's no substantial difference. The "polish" version sure sounds less exhausting than the original.
I speak three languages on top of my own native language and never felt that way at all. In my opinion it's just a weird idea coming from people who like to overthink things.
That's not really what the article is about, though? It's pointing out that AWS, Alphabet and Meta are actively helping the Israeli government. If anything, these corporations are too effective (from the perspective of the author) rather than not enough.
