Hey. I really don't care to compare the level of scamming nor the usefulness of the tool. I'm in the process of buying right now so I know it could be useful. That's besides the point. To clarify, here's a different thought. Reading the following copy, I am wondering "whats gonna happen to my data / file I upload?":

I even looked further into the privacy policy, just to be diligent here.

With how much info I have been provided, I'm just not gonna upload a document to your site. Like I said, just doesn't inspire confidence as I scroll your landing page. Could just be a copy change to fix this.

As the OP, I wasn't even complaining about privacy of the app or site per se. It was just feedback on how that part of the landing page copy made me, a potential consumer of the product (I'm in the process of buying a house rn) made me feel in the moment. Could be a quick copy change to fix.

The privacy and security part is not inspiring confidence. Scrolling to the next section got me thinking "Don't get scammed at closing, get scammed before closing after uploading your mortgage documents to a random website."

Cool idea though.

I don't code on weekends but 15 years in and I am finding inspiration in the AI tools. I'm so pumped in being extra productive. Especially when working in a new technology, the learning experience is so much better. I can chat back and forth to learn things, I can ship so much faster. I love it. I hope you can find that.

In my experience solution architects are client facing and work with external partners on business solutions. Whereas architects are within engineering and responsible for the internal tech / system.

What's more robust or higher paying generally probably doesn't matter as much as what you are more suited for.

You never really said what you are trying to achieve. If you want to build a software company, yeah, you probably need a technical co founder. If you want to ship a consumer product, maybe you don't.

I've been shipping code to production that it generates for months now. It's really good for some things. But yeah a lot of the time it's wrong.

Interesting way to look at it, a bet. A bet involving people's livelivehoods.

Not that I am arguing in favor for how things currently work re Apple's ecosystem, but from a quick look it seems like these apps bait you into paying and the developer is just completely ignoring that part. I think that's what Apple is not fond of.

not who you replied to, but:

- signal for family and some techy friends

- whatsapp cuz some friends dont really get signal

- imessage cuz some friends dont get whatsapp nor signal

- viber cuz family across seas and that's whats popular there

- slack with some friends cuz it's nice to have focused discussions in channels

- discord cuz its better for gaming

- ig messaging cuz i stay in touch with less close acquaintances and some friends that way, comment on their stories and chat about whats going on in the moment

I've been in similar work environments and a change of teams completely changed how I felt about things. Got promoted after that too. Maybe there is an internal transfer program you can explore.

At the end of the day you are supporting a family so that in itself is the point of what you're doing. I think most ppl that have ever lived had to do stuff they didnt quite enjoy every day and can relate, but probably not most ppl in FAANG.

Maybe also seek some kind of therapy, just talking to a professional could help.

The startup / work for yourself thing is risky and may end up more stressful, but at least you do have cushion to try it. But I don't think that's the answer.. there's something deeper.

Even that sounds boring though. And that's coming from another software engineer. I would keep it simple "I make apps". I think that's more likely to get a question back. Try to avoid giving all the info up front

The value they provide is mainly the networks they've built up. Friendly with a bunch of other people with money and influence in various fields.
