kno··on TechStars: Boulder Demo Day from the Cheap Seats
I globally agree on HN fairness, was just curious on recent posts.
kno··on TechStars: Boulder Demo Day from the Cheap Seats
I wonder why Techstars and companies get so little coverage, Comments and Upvotes on HN.
kno··on Rate my startup: KeyTweet, a Twitter client that learns what you like
I see no screen shots, just promise of magic. You need to put forward something that will give the potential user something to go with before signing up onto your system.
kno··on Ask HN: Do you design your own website?
I tried and realized quickly that its not just about knowing css, javascript and html and all; you have to have the designer touch. So I quit web site design and hired a kick ass designer to do it for me.
kno··on Ask HN: What are you working on (hacking)?
I’m working on building a better Business search service with a strong emphasis on mailing list.

The idea is to give small to mid size businesses a tool to generate geographically and/or category based well targeted mailing list for their marketing campaign.

Mailing list are generally huge files pretty much unusable by a small business owner with a constant contact account, we are looking to change that.

kno··on “Good On Video” Is The New “Good On Paper” With HireHive (YC S10)
The way someone looks on video is always so different from a face to face contact, discrimination most of the time has to do with perception more than anything. By talking to someone you get a better sense and generally throw off initial perception.

I think it all comes down to the lingering issue of how much of ourselves are we willing to record for all to see. Another issue that video resume may raise is what I will call, remote discrimination; how good your video is may decide whether you get a call for in-house interview or not.
kno··on Ask HN: Startup with same name as mine, what should I do?
One way to do something about it is to trademark the business name, that may force the new company to chose a different name for its business.
kno··on Ask HN: What is a talent acquisition like?
Talking about a meeting with YouTube in public may impact your prospect.

My best advice: get a lawyer after initial meeting when you know more about what they want.

kno··on MyDunkTank.com Makes a Cowboy out of Philly Tech Scene
Excellent Idea to have friends actually contribute to a cause; who wont pay 25 bucks to see his friend jog in underwear, lol.
kno··on How Much Equity a Technical Cofounder Should Get
This article reminds me of an actual life situation I’m currently living. A friend of mine is an entrepreneur; MBA guy he has under his belt, couple of well funded, failed, heavily tech startup.

The guy is very smart and has tons of ideas, most of them requiring a lot of tech implementation. His downfall according to my own analysis: his lack of respect for tech guys, he is stuck with the ninety outsourcing mentality, he basically sees a tech guy as some dude that work can be outsourced anytime to India or any other place in the world.

I think a non tech guy, an MBA guy who wants to succeed in Tech startup need to get in trustful and respectful partnership with tech guy(s). Tech guy should have an equity base on how important his contribution really is to the business. With my friend startup I have seen poorly executed tech companies failing miserably despite being well funded.

kno··on My Google Interview
When rejection occurs after an interview, I generally try to my best to identify what I did wrong and prepare to the next interview.

My advice don’t feel disappointed if you don’t get the OK there are many reasons why someone get rejected, most of them not necessary skill based; so JUST MOVE ON.

kno··on Foursquare app helps you find a place near you where you can pee for free
Already taken :(
kno··on Ask HN: Review my weekend project - HackerBlogs
There’s a very good book by Steve Krug about usability: "Don’t make me think".

I have a strong feeling that you haven’t read that book, because your make me think so much that I will suggest you work on presentation and colors.

Edit: I figure it could be an IE thing --

kno··on Tesla stock is now back below its IPO price.
I will argue that this is a good time to buy Tesla Stocks; this is a time for real geeks to make money.
kno··on 60 Days at a Startup
I expected more in experience sharing than general advice; good points anyway.

kno··on USB Business Card
Brilliant idea and implementation but I have to ask: Why would anyone want to plug someone business card into ones laptop; this look more like a clever way to pass viruses around.
kno··on wu.js -- A lazy, functional Javascript library
the part I loved the most: that ain't nuthin' ta f*ck wit.
kno··on Guy uploads, downloads, then re-uploads the same video to YouTube 1,000 times
There are clear reasons why not everyone is an artist, patience and endurance is are a huge part of it.
kno··on Ballmer: Microsoft wasted time on Vista
Sure they did, as they almost always do.
kno··on Google Docs vs MS Docs. Wondering why Google Docs still sucks?
A huge company like Google can not only rely on search and people liking their search to survive. They are always looking over their shoulder at this point, looking out for any new "Cool" company that will threatens their search bread. I think folks at Google are a bit worry at this time because the only reason why people still go for Google instead of Yahoo is still mostly the Cool Factor and likability thing; that is not a solid platform for a company to rely on.

So I think with Docs Google tried hard as they do every day to position themselves outside of search. It’s like a great singer with only one popular song, who tries hard to come up with new stuff without convincing his fans.

kno··on Review HN: BillMeBob.com - Generate free invoices with no signup
It’s certainly not world class but its still not the worst I’ve seen around here. Give the guy some constructive critique, give him a chance.
kno··on AnyHub - the simple, friendly, no bullshit file host
Ads will not do any good, to survive he must charge from some space threshold.
kno··on Asana: The Interface is the Product
this looks like a Google wave killer; wow already a bunch of people.
kno··on The Curious Case Of Vancouver Incubator Bootup Labs
I agree, really bad PR and crisis management. I’m just left to wonder, what were they thinking, moving folks from Tucson/ Kansas City with all their dreams just to drop them by the road side; these are definitely not serious people.
kno··on Booted out of Bootup Labs
Wow what a clean way to explain this crazy matter to my son.
kno··on Review my startup: Akshell, a web application network
This is what happen when you first open your app the public, you get feedback that may not line up with you primary vision. I found these primary feedbacks invaluable because it tells you that your product is not doing exactly what people want, you learn from it and shift direction. Your idea is very good and well executed, you should minimize the trust factor by making it less social based ; make it possible for someone to take his code away from your platform.
kno··on Ubuntu switches back to Google as default search engine
Let’s recap why they first changed from Google to Yahoo!: "factors such as user experience, user preferences", really? Since when did Yahoo had better user anything than Google?????
