No further explanation needed. Your copy, however, needs work to compel me to bother spending 30 seconds to sign up and play with it.
I've been told before success is simple: you focus and you be patient. So yes, you too can be an "overnight" success lauded and dissected by millions around the world when you spend your whole life on it.

Traction is going to be hard. Good luck.
Just saying.
But it's also fun to fantasize, speculate, and gossip about really rich and important people.
2. On my 13" the screenshots are too big, then I have the chat widget overlaying on top.
Other than the ironic name use, what's the point of throwing 460 words on this?
I shook his hand and he introduced himself as getting an interview slot too. Naturally we conferred and compared notes. Mine was something weird, a scheduling software--we haven't decided yet. His was a photo blog. Well like a photo blog, but easier, the kicker is you only manage it through email.
Oh, I said. That sounds... interesting. Since I was young that was go-to answer for any pitch. The less he explained the more compelling it was. Blogging for your grandma, blogging that anyone can do, blogging that's accessible. I remember asking how long he's been working on it, he said for a few months. I smiled and said he's probably going to get funded.
I didn't, it was my fifth try and became my last.
Throughout the years Posterous' engineering skills, design skills, and marketing skills have made the platform really awesome. Reading his blog, learning his thought process, and seeing the passion he puts into his work, it's inspiring. Very inspiring.
Blogging for grandmas is such a good idea, it's carved a great niche amongst giants WordPress, Blogger, and Tubmlr, and it's growing as a company.
Our career paths took really drastic divergence but seeing what you've done in the past three years is one of the examples of the immense potential working in our little crazy world.
Congrats and good luck.
Vulgarity is immature and childish but it's a tonality the Internet has adopted. You can participate or choose not to, sermonize about decency or not, but this insistence--beyond the scope of this article and RTFHIG--that everyone does things on your pace, your schedule, your needs, your preferences, on you... is just so whiny.
Care less, it'll make you happier.
Other than that I'm not sure what we're arguing about. Though it is interesting you have things to hide.
If Reddit has an interest graph built on a social graph with a Twitter graph and a map to find all these graphs then they too can be the media darlings of Silicon Valley. But, wait, they slayed Digg, is that not good enough of a narrative in 2010?
Quora has now momentum, I think that's going to get them over the hump more so than anything else. When Steve Case is on your site commentin', that's at least worth $1MM in valuation right there.
Deal flows in Boston and NYC is better than Silicon Valley right now. Pay attention to OnStartup.com, JasonLBaptiste.com, and things Bijan Sabet is saying.
AOL went sideways when internet users grew up and left their walled gardens, messed up again with MySpace what with the lukewarm response of AIM Pages back in 2006. Now Aol is spending cash on trinkets to pretend they can still worm their way into the center of a non-competent user's internet life.
Aside from their content publishing offerings almost every one of their product offerings is fourth class, or third at best. But damn, are they ever good at producing nuggets of content to slap ad relevance algorithms against. They're in a hard position though, what can you do with millions in users and billions in cash in 6, 9, 12 months time to still stay relevant and competent in a post-Zuckerberg Man of the Year world?
No, you can't hire a hit. You can only appease shareholders with churn.
I'm going to predict the future: In 3 months time everyone in an AOL/Aol database gets sent an email telling them to plug in feeds from other more successful web services. In 6 months time people forget this because behavior can't be modified. In 12 months time a social media consultant will still try to convince you their about.me page is worth putting on business cards. But by then we would be onto the new shiny.
Will it increase your likelihood of success? No. There has yet ever been a startup that has developed after a rejection from YC. Will moving to SF help you? No. There's a lot more action in the east coast for tech then there are out here. In fact, I would say you're going to have a much harder time trying to figure yourself, your startup, and navigate the social culture and scene. Your budget is also naively out of whack.
But you're going to enjoy your adventure, good or bad. I applaud that, I applaud that simple affirmations.
Good luck, let's grab lunch when you're out here.
I started the ball rolling tagging people last week (http://www.insidefacebook.com/2010/12/07/recently-tagged-pho...). Ended up messing with Mashable's profile and next thing you know everyone's doing this. If I wasn't so busy I would have built this, but then again if I wasn't so busy everyone would be rich, happy, and content. Good job!
