joch··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (August 2026)
I have two personal projects at the moment.

First, https://agency.nu/ a personal agent platform for people who aren’t necessarily developers, but still want to connect multiple Gmail, Calendar, and other accounts and automate workflows across them. Spent a lot of time making the interaction easy and natural, so it supports chat, realtime voice and telegram.

Second, https://vinarium.one/ something I primarily built for myself to keep track of the wines in my wine fridge, when to drink them, and what pairs well with a particular dish.

Both are very much scratching my own itch, but I’m curious if either resonates with anyone else here.

joch··on Herdr: Agent multiplexer that lives in your terminal
I switched from tmux to Zellij a while back, and lately added a stop hook that sends a terminal ping to the correct tab when the agent is done (and I'm not looking at the tab). It has been pretty convenient so far.

Added an example here:

joch··on Show HN: Rmux – A programmable terminal multiplexer with a Playwright-style SDK
Very nice!

I created `ygg`[0] a while back to easily spawn a new worktree when working with Claude/codex, and it also spawns that in a dedicated zellij tab. I think making the terminal multiplexer pluggable, so it would be easy to integrate something like this.

joch··on Ask HN: Who is using OpenClaw?
I tried it a bit, and while the potential is huge, I mostly just use a cli agent (claude/codex) via Blink shell (iPhone/iPad) with Wireguard for technical work or https://agency.nu for any automations using integration, voice chat etc.
joch··on CodingFont: A game to help you pick a coding font
PragmataPro looks great, thanks for the tip!

I didn't necessarily select the one closest to what I currently use in the game, but more looking at the shapes of different characters to see what looked the "nicest".

joch··on CodingFont: A game to help you pick a coding font
I go for the Iosevka Nerd Font Mono these days to get the nice icons everywhere.

joch··on CodingFont: A game to help you pick a coding font
Missing my favorite, Iosevka: https://github.com/be5invis/Iosevka

Playing the game gave me Jetbrains Mono though.

joch··on Show HN: Ygg – Git worktree CLI with Zellij tab integration
Hey HN! I built ygg to make git worktrees easy to work with day-to-day with multiple Claude Code in the same repo. By running ygg new my-feature, it creates a worktree and a tab in zellij (if available) and you can get right to work. It even copies untracked files, so your .env files etc follow. When done, ygg remove will remove the current worktree and close the zellij tab.

Install via Homebrew: brew tap joch/ygg && brew install ygg

Hope you find it useful! Would love to hear what you think!

joch··on “Car Wash” test with 53 models
Agreed, even for humans, context-free logic is a challenge.
joch··on QA-use-MCP: MCP for E2E testing
Claude code comes to mind: `claude mcp serve`
joch··on Show HN: SuperSplat – open-source 3D Gaussian Splat Editor
Performance is surprisingly great, but of course it’s not as sharp/high res as you would get on a PC.

There's an app for Quest 3 called Gracia, which allows you to see these in 3D space:

joch··on Circadian lighting with Home Assistant: Like f.lux, but for your house
I would like to recommend Adaptive Lighting in favor of Circadian Lighting. It has the added benefit of being able to detect if someone manually adjusts the brightness or color, and then stops the automatic adjustment for that light.

joch··on The Perfect Media Server
Sounds like using mergerfs together with snapraid would work similar to the popular Unraid software but more diy.
joch··on Happy New Year HN
Gott nytt år! Looking forward to a better 2021.
joch··on Evernote lost its CTO, CFO, CPO and HR head as it eyes another fundraise
I agree, but I'm ok with adding a title manually.

Speaking of missing features, what I do miss though is the automatic title naming based on current calendar events. It was a perfect way of tracking meeting notes, but that feature has been removed.

joch··on Evernote lost its CTO, CFO, CPO and HR head as it eyes another fundraise
I have been using Evernote for over 10 years now. The core note taking experience has never been close to good, but two things have made me stick by it through the years (powered through the nagging for business subscription)

1. Web clipper, which I use as a bookmark replacement, as well as for keeping copies of articles. Great for searching and knowing that I will always have a copy if a site suddenly disappears.

2. PDF ocr / search. I store a lot of receipts, contracts, invoices, manuals and other docs in Evernote, most of which are in PDF. I find the search-in-pdf feature indispensable.

I would love to move to something simpler like Bear (http://www.bear-writer.com), which has a superior writing experience. However, the two points above always make me come back to Evernote.

Edit: Also forgot to include the ability to take unstructured notes and sketches using the Apple Pencil on an iPad, while a bit cumbersome in Evernote, at least works.

joch··on I returned my 2016 MacBook Pro with Touch Bar
Even though the Esc key is indented, the empty space on the left still functions as Esc, meaning that the key is quite wide in practice.
joch··on Why Apple Music is So Bad When the iPhone is so Good
> - I can play music on any device logged into the account from any other device logged into the account

This is the only reason for me sticking with Spotify instead of Apple Music. It lets me have the Spotify app running on my htpc and I can easily control it from any device running Spotify. No need for AirPlay, Bluetooth etc.

joch··on The World Is Getting Fatter and No One Knows How to Stop It
I have switched to an lchf based diet, and I have seen some tremendous health benefits such as lower weight, better mood and higher overall energy.

I saw a movie recently called That Sugar Film that explores this kind of eating. One of the key takeaways is it actually important where the calories come from and not just the amount.

joch··on The Search for the Perfect To-do List
Thank you! There are so many way of implementing GTD and countless posts on parts of everyone's setup, so I just figured I just post my entire setup in one single article.
joch··on The Search for the Perfect To-do List
I recently published my current OmniFocus/GTD workflow, which has been working really well for me. http://johnny.chadda.se/the-2016-omnifocus-setup-and-workflo...
joch··on What Happened: Adobe Creative Cloud Update Bug
Thanks for the tip! Looks like they have a perpetual license. :)
joch··on What Happened: Adobe Creative Cloud Update Bug
Is there a viable alternative to Lightroom? It's the only reason I'm stuck with Creative Cloud.
joch··on Show HN: Plain Email – An app for one-touch email processing
I like the approach! I'm a GTD user and would love for the app to integrate with OmniFocus, meaning that defer and delegate are added to the appropriate place within my contexts and projects.
joch··on Git2Go – GitHub client for iPhone and iPad
Did some testing and the user experience is surprisingly great! Didn't think git on iOS could be this easy, but I haven't tried resolving a merge conflict yet.

Looking forward to support for custom git repositories, or even better, private Gitlab servers.

joch··on GPG is awesome; GPG is terrible
This is actually one of the better guides for getting started using gpg (for the Mac): http://notes.jerzygangi.com/the-best-pgp-tutorial-for-mac-os...

What's great about this guide and approach, is that it works in any text field, including webmail.

joch··on Best Linux server backup system?
I have been using backup2l together with rsync for ages and it has been working great. It doesn't natively support encryption though.

joch··on What's New in Mercurial 3.0
There was no default remote defined, since it was a newly created repository and was not cloned from a server.
joch··on Backup Awareness Week
The speed varies with Crashplan as well, but I usually get around a couple of megabits per second at least.

I run it on my home NAS though so it's basically just set-and-forget, meaning that I don't have to remember to keep my Mac online. I just add my photos to the NAS share and it takes care of it from there.
