Cloudflare have a few good posts for context.

I have successfully been hibernating a laptop after a few hours in suspend with swap allocated 50% the size of my RAM, so 8GB when I had a 16GB laptop, and 16GB now on a 32GB laptop. Never had any issues.
The numbers in the article are relative to different starting points so can't be used to infer anything useful.

I did set up a local SIP server to avoid going out to the internet but don't remember which one now.
Such as?
I also have a Nextcloud instance and have all photos and videos auto uploaded, then recently Nextcloud introduced some workflow features that I used to auto upload all videos from Nextcloud to Peertube, making it really easy to go pick the video link and share.
What I've found is that better quality photos and videos tend to make it into Mastodon and Peertube, while other content will still be shared in the Signal group chat.
It's all running in docker, making it easy to upgrade, backup, and/or move around.
Hadn't heard of this. Can you provide some references? A quick DDG search didn't turn up anything.
I'm currently considering using Zotero so I can keep better track of topics I'm researching so I'm curious to hear more about people's experience with it, including across devices. For example is there as easy a way to share a URL to it on Android as there is with wallabag?
For notes I was using Evernote once upon s time then migrated to nvAlt synced via Nextcloud. On mobile app the notes are available in the Nextcloud app and editable in any markdown or text editor. Since switching back to Linux I've been using nvPy.
"Tomas was fascinated with the Why behind everything, he studied two MSc in Engineering from ICAI Madrid and Ecole Centrale Paris. After a few years of management consulting, he moved to America in 2008 to pursue his MBA at Stanford University. He specialized in Behavioral Psychology, Design, Storytelling, and Scriptwriting in an effort to uncover how people think and why they think the way they do."[1]
His background in engineering gives me confidence he's not making all this up, and the lack of medical or microbiological education doesn't seem as relevant given he's not making claims about the virus itself, but rather about the mathematical underpinnings of it's spread and interpretation of publicly available figures.
The take-away is that it's prudent to take this seriously now, as in today, if not yesterday.
