was a bit disappointed that it downsampled my 4k videos to 720p. was there some sort of preference setting that i overlooked?

edit: yes it happens in taxis too, but in that case it's pretty clear that the taxi company has liability. not so clear if it happens in an uber. see: http://www.forbes.com/sites/ellenhuet/2014/09/30/uber-driver...
Install GeekTool and use the shell "Geeklet" to affix the todo list permanently on your desktop background. You can adjust the font/size/transparency to make it as obnoxious as needed.
I agree. Research and data might make people feel bad, and not making people feel bad is obviously way more important than increasing knowledge.
> We shouldn't accept these disparities as driven by natural forces until we've tried everything we can imagine to try to bring the differences in line.
I agree. Personally I think we should withhold all math education to males until they are 21. We can discontinue this policy when there is a 50/50 gender split among all STEM workers, educators, and investors.
> we should assume and act as though differences are due to bias long after the differences are well proven to be natural
Yep. 1+1=3. Doesn't matter if you can prove that 1+1=2.
> It is a case where being wrong in one direction is not very costly, but being wrong in the other direction (and thus institutionalizing bias) is disastrous.
Yep, unimaginable catastrophes.
You're joking, right?
LJ was the direct inspiration for Twitter, at least according to this interview: http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/technology/2009/02/twitter-c...
"The people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, usually fail to do so."
"The people who don't think they can change the world, sometimes do anyway."
No idea how any of this is relevant to the OP.
i've seen some outrageous misrepresentations made by startups/founders. not talking about random guys off the street either- these have been funded by well-known VC's and accelerators. as an investor, i've learned to be very wary..
For example: #3 on the "top" list is Danger. According to crunchbase (where this site gets its data from) it was acquired for $500MM. And the founder went on to start Android. Why does it matter that danger.com is now dormant?
