jeff18··on Google Fiber agrees to acquire Webpass
The latency to the West Coast Battle.net server is a very steady 12ms according to the Starcraft in-game UI.
jeff18··on Now Shipping Soylent 2.0

jeff18··on Stripe Checkout in more languages
You mean Stripe should add things like this? https://stripe.com/alipay
jeff18··on ShotPut (YC S15) helps fulfill product orders at a price that works for startups
Do you think the amount of products being shipped to customers will be shrinking soon?
jeff18··on Take-home interviews
That turns into an advantage for Triplebyte, because you are actually applying to potentially several hundred companies at the same time.
jeff18··on LAX becomes largest U.S. airport to allow Uber, Lyft pickups
Sorry if I am missing any sarcasm, but this seems totally backwards! Taxis are famous for racial discrimination while Uber drivers accept fares sight unseen.

Also, taxis are well known (at least in San Francisco) for illegally refusing fares to distant neighborhoods. Uber drivers simply can't refuse.

Finally, flagging a taxi is nearly impossible in a remote location, but calling an Uber driver from the app will work pretty much anywhere.

jeff18··on Our company has a therapist
I'd like to think for the same reasons you don't sweep your backpack for bugs that your employer has planted on you, or check under your desk for secret spy cameras. Unless your employer has some sort of reputation, I don't see why the default should be to believe that they are morally bankrupt enough to run some kind of therapist sting operation.
jeff18··on Ask HN: What are the best product landing pages you've stumbled upon?
Every product on Stripe:

jeff18··on The button: social experiment driving Reddit crazy
Let's give reputable companies the benefit of the doubt.
jeff18··on Threadable (YC W14) makes mailing lists more awesome, less noisy
Are you guys aware of Stripe's mailing list philosophy? https://stripe.com/blog/email-transparency I think it is genius, theoretically, but it is a bit difficult to get right technically. If you guys could implement a way for companies to adopt that without the need for lots of filter wrangling, that would be epic!
jeff18··on Stripe Checkout
We are very sensitive to fraud, and a few bad apples found the checkout a little too low friction. ;)
jeff18··on Stripe Checkout
We've been using Stripe Checkout at Humble Bundle for quite a while and it has been awesome. It is really easy to set up and once a customer has used it, it's incredibly easy to checkout in the future. Every couple weeks I hear about a new A/B test that is running to try to make it even better.
jeff18··on Firefox 25 is released
Mozilla uses Akamai as their CDN. As big as Mozilla is, a Firefox release probably is not even visible on a bandwidth graph.
jeff18··on Here's the Most Idiotic and Brilliant App Ever
I've been playing the awesome DropPhone app since 2012! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ungulation...
jeff18··on Establishing secure connection
It is for their commercial portal: https://www.wellsfargo.com/com/
jeff18··on How to Break Out of the 'Female Entrepreneur' Trap
I am pretty sure that is actually illegal
jeff18··on Host webpages on Google Drive
If you use Google's hosted libraries, you can embed it like so, and it should seamlessly work over SSL.

<script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.9.0/jquery.min.js"></script>

jeff18··on Humble eBook Bundle
We are working on updating our instructions in favor of a direct download approach, which seems to be way better. Sorry about the iTunes favoritism!

jeff18··on Please Don't Kill Feedburner
How about $9.49 / month
jeff18··on Another layer of security for your Dropbox account (two-step verification)
Dual authentication only occurs when you would normally be asked for a password, so assuming you have already linked your computer, you won't need to authenticate again.
jeff18··on The Humble Music Bundle
Hehe, I suppose that is true. And you are most welcome, thanks for the support!
jeff18··on The Humble Music Bundle
It was definitely a joke :) - Jeff from Humble Bundle
jeff18··on Sendy - Send Newsletters via Amazon SES
Sending to 1,000,000 subscribers costs $55,000+ per year on MailChimp and other premium services. A cheaper option with the same deliverability would be extremely attractive to anyone who doesn't like setting their money on fire!
jeff18··on Unlock Your Inner Rain Man by Electrically Zapping Your Brain
I've seen worse. Here it is in 3 lines :) http://www.jimloy.com/puzz/9dots1.gif
jeff18··on Valve to crowdsource distribution choices with Steam Greenlight
Valve doesn't have the sales data of games that are not on the service though.
jeff18··on Braid, Super Meat Boy, and Lone Survivor Added to Humble Indie Bundle V
I believe Psychonauts is being delayed due to its massive size. I would not be surprised if there are technical hurdles for packaging it that need to be overcome for the Ubuntu team. We've actually received some support messages that certain file systems cannot actually contain a 4.5 GB file, which is a new one to me!

These new games, on the other hand, should be finished tonight.

jeff18··on Humble Indie Bundle 5: pay what you want for video games
Nah, Frozen Synapse was natively ported by Ryan Gordon.
jeff18··on Humble Indie Bundle 5: pay what you want for video games
You are technically correct, but you are belittling the amount of work that Codeweavers put into the LIMBO Linux version.
jeff18··on Humble Indie Bundle 5: pay what you want for video games
Negative, this is the first one.
jeff18··on Secure Shell chrome (killer) app
Check out TermKit as a pretty awesome proof of concept for this: http://acko.net/blog/on-termkit/
