>_< , something similar happened to me when I did an rm -Rf * in the old pictures directory on my system ... Well ... It wasn't the old pictures directory, it was the backup directory with all pictures from my older phone !! To say that blood drained from my face would be an understatement, thankfully I was able to recover most of it.
The first thing I did after the recovery marathon was to alias rm so that it instead works by moving stuff to /tmp
Same here, I'm using Sphinx and loving it !
I very much appreciate the ability to get all nitty gritty whenever I want to implement something "special" like the Favorite Git Aliases post which when edited gets turned into a .bash_aliases file and pushed to Gitlab and mirrored to GitHub! :D
For those curious it's over at https://jdsalaro.com , I don't have much details on my stack or why but I will be documenting bits here and there. I did start with my Markdown and Myst Cheatsheet for Sphinx (https://jdsalaro.com/cheatsheet/sphinx-myst-cheat-sheet/) and how to load the environment.pickle (https://jdsalaro.com/howto/sphinx-load-environment-pickle/)
Send help pls
Do you know the reason?
Today I was about to go on a small vacation, so no laptop. Where can I ping you when I've uploaded it? ( or you can ping me, info in my profile )
Have you tried using the export function and just processing that? That's also an alternative that has worked for friends ( the HTML export one )
I have created a /notes folder which gets made available under the same domain ( https://jdsalaro.com/blog/category/notes/ ) which will contain all stuff I had in Evernote.
The content of my Evernote account is exported via the API and each note put into a note.md file with the first line as title, tags ( private, note) and "inferred" headings.
Within that folder there's a /private one which never gets built ( using tox ) nor published to the public version of my blog. There's a separate GitLab pipeline which only builds /private and makes it available under Gitlab pages but uses another non-public project, so you need to be logged in and a member of the repo to be able to see it.
The good thing is that I can read them everywhere and if necessary edit stuff via mobile ( Browser tab with GitLab VS Code IDE added to home screen or Labcoat )
Since everything is backed up using git, both the public and private versions, I don't have to worry about losing data.
Cool side-effects are that I've started using and understanding Sphinx to manage the structure and templating and even started poking around helping with the project ( https://github.com/executablebooks/sphinx-external-toc/issue... )
Really, we had the power all along but became complacent. We've got to be the change we want to see on the internet.

I decided against git aliases in favour of shell aliases, but people might still find them interesting.
For me, and my wrists, gs and gf have been game-changing.

I also got quite a few suggestions on Mastodon and Tildes, which were added retroactively.
My blog is https://jdsalaro.com and my latest comparison of programming fonts at https://jdsalaro.com/note/best-programming-fonts is a good place to start :D
Cheers!
This is a key point, and I don't think the ability to acquire knowledge online is a skill which only young people specifically have failed to acquire.
Said ability must be trained on, as with anything, a suitable dataset. This objective cannot be meaningfully achieved if all data sources someone has ever consumed and learned from are TikTok, ragebait, clickbait, affiliate link blogs, email chains, WhatsApp message chains, sensationalist news outlets, etc.
This is why people still fall for the Nigerian Prince, Hot MILFs in Your Area, job application with deposit and all the modern variants; not only old people but all types of people.
I think some of us nerds have a slight advantage in that we experience the internet early on in a slightly different way: as a parallel to the real world, with friends and foes, with truth and deceit and as a playground to write a game mod or a bot for shit and giggles. We are, due to that I'd pose, much more keen to learn how and be able to effectively navigate it.
I've restarted my blog (https://jdsalaro.com) this year and, as painful as it is, I've chosen to go against the grain and ditch Medium and the like.
It always was just my place to nerd out and I noticed earlier this year that I had become disenchanted, but that taking action and not resignation was the solution. What if it doesn't rank, people don't enjoy my writing style or what about ads? So much thinking and not enough doing.
So far people have been extremely kind on Mastodon, Lemmy and, yes, Reddit; so I encourage you to create and interact with other creators.
I am not putting my bookmarks, including Blogs I enjoy, out in the open yet as I need to clean them up, but I certainly will at some point.
I've been looking for a similarly simplistic git-based wiki which works much like Jekyll/Pelican/Hugo.
Still, this might lead to their first solid security hire that can bring about change in the form of zero-trust principles, security in depth, etc.
> to have any chance of stopping a targeted state actor.
Given unlimited resources, interest and budget, no participant in the modern digital landscape has a significant chance of stopping motivated threat actors.
> The fact they caved so quickly tells me they are years away from a reasonable security posture.
Yes, obviously, but driving change is about incrementally tending to a desired state. Your fatalism is, quite frankly, unnecessary, not that you're not entitled to your opinion, just that disagreeing with GP or stating they are naive because this won't bring about perfect, all-encompassing change is not useful.
Does anyone have book, talks and other material you'd suggest looking at?
I know the vulgarity of the statements is tongue in cheek, but this one has been reinforced lately by the "MIME Magic" debacle[1], mama mia.
He seemed respectful and she seemed unbothered by the whole ordeal. Interesting, not my cup of tea, but definitely interesting.
Something else that caught my attention was how early he believes his interest for feet developed, as early as six and nine years of age. I wonder how this slightly amusing predilection grows and develops over time, as to even gain sexual connotation.
Thanks!
I've been reading through http://projecttendr.com/ and they seem to be what you're looking for. I'm not sure what traction they've achieved on the political arena if any, though.
> Targeting Environmental Neuro-Development Risks Project TENDR is a unique collaboration of leading scientists, health professionals and children’s and environmental advocates. We came together in 2015 out of concern over the now substantial scientific evidence linking toxic environmental chemicals to neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorder, attention deficits, hyperactivity, intellectual disability and learning disorders.
Of course I'm not sure what other people are using them for, but in my case GitLab/GitHub covered all my bases pretty well since I wasn't looking for a pelican/hugo CMS and you still host somewhere else (not Netlify).
