However given this site is called "VisualCV" (emphasis on visual), I can see why people posting on there would want to include photos, in addition to the nice graphics and stuff.
Can't wait for the west coast to wake up, where you will get told it's your fault. </cynicism>
In California at least, I suspect this has something more to do with accounting than experimentation, i.e. the companies don't have to have on their books the money owed if people were to leave without using all their vacation.
People save on rent all the time: crashing at friends, moving in with their BF/GF, moving back with their parents, etc... so this is nothing new and I have no problem with the money saving aspect. I just don't equate it with homelessness.
The 360 is supposed to come out in 2015 and only in Japan at first so no regrets about purchasing the Roomba :)
You can look on Glassdoor for company reviews but they tend to be biased negatively, as in disgruntled people are more likely to write and complain about their experiences than those who are perfectly happy.
Talk to people at both companies, preferably ones in similar positions or doing similar work.
In terms of salary, don't fixate on just the salary but consider total compensation as in salary + stock options + rsu + bonus, etc...
Finally given that you've presumably interviewed with teams at both companies, you should have a better sense about your would-be teammates and manager and which environment suits you better.
Eindhoven and Utrecht are not touristy cities. However they do have large "non-local" populations (expats in the first case, students in the second) so perhaps your point still stands that it is not the locals regularly consuming.
The virtualghetto.com article is referring to that second easter egg (i.e. the Pride mode) and telling you how to "unlock" it.
The post linked to here on HN is by M. Elizabeth Scott who created the Pong OS easter egg while at VMware.
A version of the code of the Pong OS can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/p/vmware-svga/git/ci/master/tree/exam...
From a cursory look, I don't think it has the Pride mode.
Edit to ask: do you mind sharing which island/area, your rental is in? 90% occupancy rate sounds pretty amazing.
Email in my profile if you are interested in details.
The outrage over the attitude of the execs in question is not so much because we don't understand business. Yes, we get it. This endangered a strategic relationship and deserves a strong response. The outrage is due to the nonchalance and utter arrogance shown by these execs, which were in previous times considered as inspirational leaders and models to aspire to.
I personally think it is important to show our outrage and reaction over the attitude of the execs because many folks would like to work for Google, Apple, etc... This gets them thinking about whether they'd really like to work for such companies and under such leaders.
a. Salary A , Equity E
