Hello, I'm a senior full-stack software developer with over 20 years of experience. Lately I've been working with C# mostly, but have experience with the full stack, and can learn a new environment quickly. I can rapidly prototype internal tools, and connections between services. Let me know if you need any more information from me.

inigoesdr··on Ask HN: Freelancer? Seeking freelancer? (September 2022)
SEEKING WORK | US | Remote Only

I'm a full stack developer with 20 years of experience working as a professional software developer. Hourly rate is $150.

Some interesting things I've built:

- Patient Assistance Request Portal: Created a portal with approval workflow to allow parents of children with cancer to request assistance with their bills.

- Live Video Streaming Platform: Built server and client applications to facilitate live video streams of local sports. Also built post-processing and archiving process to allow replaying the stream afterward.

- Document Signing Platform: Created application to accept documents(PDF, DOCX, etc.) that would then have placeholders added, and would allow the user to digitally sign the document with a touchscreen/mouse.

- Emergency Dispatch Platform: Built website portal, API, and mobile applications for an emergency dispatch portal. Allows registered users to submit requests that get sent to local franchises based on the location of the service request.

- Email Spool: Created a high-speed, multi-threaded email spool with an adjustable number of processes, and monitoring to ensure it recovers gracefully from any issues with the workers.

Tech:

- Web Development: C#/ASP.NET Core, PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript, React, Vue, Angular, SQL Server/T-SQL, MySQL, PostgreSQL

- Application Development: C#/.NET, Entity Framework Core, XAML/Razor, SQLite

- Mobile Development: Xamarin (iOS/Android), PhoneGap/Cordova

- System Administration: Windows Server, SQL Server, Redhat/CentOS, Ubuntu, Apache, Nginx

- DevOps: AWS, Azure, TFS/VS Online

inigoesdr··on New documents for the Okta breach
It means the employee can leave, or be terminated, for any reason without legal repercussions in that state.
inigoesdr··on Firefox 87 trims HTTP Referrers by default to protect user privacy
That's not the same as the referrer header; it's mostly invisible to the end user without inspecting the raw request data.

inigoesdr··on Show HN: Code Editor with built-in Drag'n'Drop Builder for faster front-end dev
Something seems to be broken with the signup process. After confirming my email I was unable to login, and resetting password didn't work either.

inigoesdr··on Ask HN: How can I pick a side project and stick with it?
> Find something you actually care about and need to make This is my problem. It's hard to find something that I care about enough to spend time working on it. When I start on something that I do care about, I often find something that already exists that does what I wanted to make.
inigoesdr··on Postcardware – free to use if you send us a postcard
There's a link at the bottom to their open source offerings: https://spatie.be/en/opensource
inigoesdr··on Boosting Sales with Machine Learning
The author mentioned that 2000 was the minimum, and they intend to keep training the model with future data.
inigoesdr··on Scientists have found more evidence for liquid water on Mars
Yep, it's called Panspermia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panspermia
inigoesdr··on Next Chrome Update Will Block SHA-1 Certificates
That seems to be common at least with the GlobalSign-backed CAs that I've seen. Not sure about others.
inigoesdr··on Google seems to have broken email forwarding
One guy out of millions having problems forwarding email is indicative of everything being hit and miss across all Google projects? You and the OP might be jumping to some unjustified conclusions.
inigoesdr··on EFF Wins Battle Over Secret Legal Opinions on Government Spying
Can you expand on this? What have they been misleading about?
inigoesdr··on Whitehouse response to Aaron Swartz petition
At the very least it provides a venue to gauge support, allows people to spread awareness of an issue, and causes the petition signers to think more about the situation than a passive dismissal.
inigoesdr··on DMCA Copyright Complaint to Google
I imagine they do because it makes the process easier for them(Google) to manage. Otherwise they would need interns typing out the URLs for all of the tomes that would be coming in every day.
inigoesdr··on German researchers discover flaw that could let anyone listen to cell calls
That's completely bogus. You only need to turn off the broadcasting it does, and even that was declared unnecessary by the FAA recently(iirc). You can record the takeoff and landing all you want, as long as you aren't affecting other passengers.
inigoesdr··on Ask HN: How do you decide when to use a library?
In general libraries are there to make your life easier and help speed up development so you don't reinvent the wheel. The issue is then that you have a dependency, so you have to be able to manage that going forward(including testing other versions usually). In my experience, people normally use libraries pretty heavily and don't rewrite the functionality using primitives unless there is a real reason that everything needs to be standalone(such as writing embedded software where there are space or other limitations).
inigoesdr··on The human-driven driverless car
It probably depends on where you are I imagine. In my area it's roughly the same cost as a cab.
inigoesdr··on Microsoft Xim
Ah, that makes more sense. They're probably just waiting for it to get approved. The Android and Windows app approval process tends to be much faster in my experience.
inigoesdr··on Microsoft Xim
Is that a joke? It's the first one on my screen.
inigoesdr··on Cosmos Browser – Connect to the Internet via SMS, no data or wifi required
You wouldn't want to use MD5 specifically because it would take up 32 characters of your message, but a simpler checksum might work.
inigoesdr··on Lime Text: Open Source Sublime Text clone
Sublime is first and foremost a text editor, so I don't think it's a stretch to think people would use it for text editing.
inigoesdr··on Hotel fines $500 for every bad review posted online
The largest issue is that you have to re-create them every time you make a change. You have to create an entire new image, and update the coordinates for the map, which is arduous. They are also not very mobile-friendly, tend to waste a lot of bandwidth on the filler space, and you are somewhat limited in what you can do with the link shapes. It's much more efficient and cleaner to create the elements separately so you can easily update them, and they can scale better. Also, SEO as the other responder mentioned.

> Soylent is betting on the fact that consumers want to separate the nourishment of food from the ritual of eating.

They aren't necessarily looking to replace the ritual of eating for the average consumer, and there are applications outside of that market that Soylent could be extremely beneficial for. For example they have cited it being a useful replacement for people who can't eat certain types of foods, or who can't eat solid foods.

Hmm... that might explain why it crashes constantly for me.
