hellbannedguy··on Vaccine experts: Covid-19 booster shots aren't needed now
I don't understand their frustration.

There's not much they can do for a patient once that patient is admitted to the ICU.

Hospitals should have been setting up Covid wards, or tents. The hospital had enough time. Other than intubation there's not much. I guess if you are important enough you get those coveted antibodies that were donated, or blood thinning drugs if you have blood clots in your lungs.

I've never met a doctor who quit over ethics. I've seen many who quit over ego disutes, or pay.

In medicine there's something called Professional Deniability. American doctors gave it in spades.

I'm all for getting the idiots vaccinated, but don't buy the caring doctor quitting because he/she has a moral dilemma.

(I think American doctors are good, but caring no. Ethical just enough to keep them out of a Malpractise suit.)

hellbannedguy··on No One Wanted A&W's Third-Pound Burger (2016)
A & W needs to check-in on their franchises.

They have gone down hill in terms of quality, or at least tye one near me.

I'm not a fast person food guy, but recently was hungry enough to go into my local store.

$6 for a terrible burger. It was lunch so I guess they made a lot expecting a rush, but this is the first time I thought about returning food.

hellbannedguy··on Vaccine experts: Covid-19 booster shots aren't needed now
If they can keep the Moderna, and Pfizer vaccine, at below freeing?

I just picture America the "great" delivering vaccines, and there's no infrastructure on the other end.

On a selfish note, I wouldn't mind closing all ports of entry until this virus is truly under control.

hellbannedguy··on Researchers successfully potty-train cows
We have a mountian top in my county that was saved from development, and was permently zoned to only allow horses to inhabitate.

There are a few houses that butt up to the area.

The horses have owners, and people stop to pet them.

One night a home owner heard a horse yelllng out his window. He didn't think that much about it, but the horse would stop yelling.

He shined a flash light on him, and decided to call one of the other horse hill owners.

The owner finally arrived, and brought a vet.

The horse's stomach twisted. The vet fixed him.

Whenever that guy goes out on his porch, the horse runs up to him. Almost out of respect?

hellbannedguy··on Smart kids should skip high school (2015)
Americans who go to public schools get enough of the "bad bits" in grade through middle school to prepare us for life.

I used to get knots in my stomach on the first day of school. I just knew there would be an after school fight, and I would be involved even though I tried to remain invisible.

I should have gone to a community college instead of high school, but didn't even know it was an option at the time.

(I wasen't a big kid, but taught by my Irish father to never back down from a male on male confrontations. That might explain some of my problems with bullies? By the time I hit high school, I was so beyond fighting, and any form of bullying--to any of my classmates. I really didn't like high school, with the exception of a few girlfriends. Everything I should have learned in high school, I made up for at a community college in a semester. I remember sitting in a chem class with 35 year old nursing students, and I was in heaven. I loved college so much, I didn't want it to end.)

hellbannedguy··on France grants citizenship to 12,000 Covid frontline workers
And for good reasons.
hellbannedguy··on Drugs mimicking effects of cigarette smoke reduce Covid's ability to enter cells
Even twenty years ago, nicotine was so vilified (for good reason probally) scientists didn't do non-biased studies.

I remember Dr. Dean Edell always yacking about this.

(antidotally--I have know smokers, who didn't eat much, never seemed to get sick. My best friend of twenty years never got sick. I used to say, you smoke 4-5 packs/day. I don't get it. I even had him go in to check his Coronary arteries because I just assumed the worse. His arteries were clean. He practiced calorie restriction, but not on purpose. He just didn't eat much. And yes--at that much tobacco, how do you eat? He made it to 65. He died do to smoking. His lungs finally gave up one night. Now--smokers who ate a lot seemed like they were always sick.)

hellbannedguy··on The World’s Oldest Active Torrent Turns 18 Soon
It's too bad what governments, big corporations, did to a great technology.

I don't even go close to a torrent site anymore.

It's just not worth being accused of something.

And to the Copyright Net Nannies--what's the outcome?

Musicians are paid less than before the crackdown.

Books are selling at an all time low.

hellbannedguy··on We found a phone with pre-installed malware via the Lifeline Assistance program
These Lifeline phones are sold, or given away, by major USA telecoms.

You would think they would be partially liable for malware on their phones?

They make money counting on low income Americans going over their free rate tier, and advertising.

hellbannedguy··on The effects of a warmer world are visible in animals’ bodies
1.1 C = around 39 F

The world temp has gone up 39 degrees? That is much higher than I thought.

That couldn't be right?

I'm tired today.

hellbannedguy··on A stranger secretly lived in my home
I did a similar thing in San Francisco when working at the ballpark.

Someone smashed my window, and someone stole my radio. (I knew the cops wouldn't do anything besides laugh.)

Didn't care about the radio, but that window bothered me.

I decided to keep the doors unlocked, and carried a portable radio to work. (Too cheap to pay for parking.)

I put a sign on the rear window, "Please go ahead and sit in the truck, or sleep in the bed, but Don't Break Anything. Everything is unlocked."

It was an old Toyota, and it had a kill switch hidden.

Never had a problem again.

There were days when I would find cash in the glove box. I don't think it was tip. I think my truck was being used as a drug drop, but didn't care.

hellbannedguy··on PalmOS on Raspberry Pi
They were great devices. Functional, and well made. It's a shame how managment ran that company into the ground.
hellbannedguy··on PalmOS on Raspberry Pi
This brings back memories.

One--how much I liked my TX. (One of the first little devises you could get on the internet with. I was a Goodguy's Liquidation sale. They had 500 Halo 2 Collector's editions for $5.00/piece. I needed the price on ebay. Everyone had a dumb phone. I went to a closed public library, and logged on with no password. I saw a high of 50 bucks. Went back and bought them all. I thought I had a upper hand in pricing stuff at auctions, etc. A year later, and it seemed like everyone had a smart phone.

two--dissapointment over how this company was mismanaged to the ground.

hellbannedguy··on Vermeer Restoration Reveals a Painting Within a Painting
I don't think they should have messed with it.

(I do look at it differently since watching Tim's Vermeer though. I wonder if the conservators looked at the painting a bit differently after seeing the documentary? Like hay, "Maybe it's not the masterpiece we thought?")

hellbannedguy··on Court issues permanent injunction in Epic vs. Apple case
They have a class action lawsuit against them.

I believe it just covers automatic renewals, which are illegial.

The WSJ needs to clean up their act. Offer better info to subscribers? The rest of us arn't going to pay. And I know it's difficult business. Figure out something newsboys besides trickery?

Fire that MBA in charge of subscriptions.

hellbannedguy··on Windy.com
There's also MyRadar, but this looks more accurate?
hellbannedguy··on Our fridge just emailed us to say we opened its door too many times
In this case I'm on the fence.

Say you are not breathing, and the machine is working, but not up to manufacture's specs. They have the data. They should inform you of a malfunctioning machine? Since they have the data, it's incumbent on them to inform you of the state of the malfunctioning cpac machine?

If they don't get back informing you of a faulty machine, a lawyer could subpoena those cell phone records/data? And maybe have a case?

hellbannedguy··on Jay Leiderman has died
"After a city in California passed a law criminalizing homelessness, the same client knocked one of its websites offline for half an hour. Where the FBI saw a felony computer crime worth up to 15 years in prison, Leiderman saw a peaceful protest against an unjust law—a protest, he noted, that had caused no perceptible harm."

hellbannedguy··on Amazon to pay full college tuition for its front-line employees
I guarantee she's not delivering packages for Amazon.

I once heard they were suspose to deliver 500 packages a day.

I hope to a higher power I got that wrong.

hellbannedguy··on Amazon to pay full college tuition for its front-line employees
I put myself through college, but had jobs I could study on; Security Guard, and a Mini Storage Manager.

I couldn't imagine even working twenty hours delivering a ton of packages, and getting through school, especially if you need decent grades for grad school.

Amazon knows very few of their workers will take advantage of their college offer.

Great PR though.

hellbannedguy··on The Applecare Hustle
I was told by a working political consultant, that insurance industry lobbiests basically control Sacramento.

They poured a lot of money into political coffiers when CA decided to go to demanding auto insurance at DMV. (Before auto insurance was required, but not demanded. So basically if you wanted to chance it, you could drive witout insurance.)

Thus guy told me the Insurance induesty gives politicians the most amount of money, behind unions.

Why is the insurance industry so concerned with state bills?

I think we all know the answer. And I'm at odds at what the Insurance Commissioner does all day? I guess a VPS to Pornhub?

hellbannedguy··on MDMA reopens child-like “critical periods” in the brain
I had a girlfriend who used to take it. She said it was great, but felt it caused a bit of damage.

She was on her way to a graduate degree in Biochemistry, but lost interest. She didn't blame MDMA, but felt she probally shouldn't have taken it.

hellbannedguy··on How Doctors die. It’s not like the rest of us (2016)
My sister kept fooling with my father's palliative care meds? Why? She claimed it was so he could spend more time with her kids. My father thought he kids were spoiled.

What could be the other reason? Was she naieve? I do know she loved him, but it seemed he needed to do things for her love? She messed with his meds so she could more inheritance. Just American greed.

It's not like she even needed the money. She had two shoe stores in LA, and was a shoe designer.

She got all his cash. She had a lawyer on speed dial according to my brother. My mother got nothing. (We are not a litigious family for the most part.)

She spent part of the money on a Yurt in the backyard of her beautiful home, after a world trip staying in fancy hotels.

She wonders why her brothers, and mother, don't return calls.

One more thing. My father had a huge liver tumor. He had great insurance (Union Cadillac policy). Because modern doctors do not palpitate anymore, he went decade with the tumor. We all knew something didn't look right, but he was told by a doctor it was just scarring from a hernia operation. Not one doctor felt his abdomen, except interns at the hospital. (After the third different intern pushed on his stomach, I said enough. He's not a learning tool for you.)

He left the hospital with an incurable diagnosis. Many specialist looked at him.

This doctor affiliated with the hospital kept dragging my sick father in for appointments. He told him he would operate, after this sanctimonious speech about drinking.

My father was naturally elated.

The doctor called a couple of weeks later, and said he couldn't operrate.

It was all those unnessary office visits that irritated me, along with getting a guy's hope up.

(Sorry about the ramble. I once said, I didn't understand why Steve Jobs didn't use western medicine to cure his Pancreatic tumor. What I didn't know is how low the cure rate of that cancer was. I didn't know what kind of cancer (I hear their are basically two types, and one is somewhat kinda curable. The other is not.). I never should have said anything. When my day comes, I'm using that Right to Die option. I'm glad CA has that now. Oh boy, I am now depressed.)

hellbannedguy··on Almost free serverless on-demand Minecraft server in AWS

hellbannedguy··on Almost free serverless on-demand Minecraft server in AWS
It's by design.

Those guys in finance know there are people whom will pay any bill.

When I was younger I would just pay for even mistakes because I was concerned with my credit number.

hellbannedguy··on Big Brothers Has Privatized
It's politically incorrect to blame anyone for this virus. I hated the way Trump politicized it, but let's not deny accountability because we had an absolute head banging idiot for a president.

Let's just act like that Chinese lab was a top notch research facility, with strict safety protocols in place?

hellbannedguy··on Big Brothers Has Privatized
They sure have time to write marginal/dubious traffic violations?

I live in Marin County, and they wonder why voters won't pass their bond initiatives.

My father's best friend was a lieutenant in Oakland PD. They were so close he gave my father a "Get out of jail free card". It was just a business card which was signed on the back. If you commited a crime, you pulled out the card; you were let go. My father got out of a DUI with it. (I don't think they are handed out anymore?)

His friend was a level headed cop, a bit liberal for a cop even.

My father always wanted to hear about the big cases, or criminals they caught.

He finally told my father the truth. He told him we play chess in the basement for a good part of the day. He wasen't a beat cop. He was up their in rank.

My father was incredulous. He just didn't like the idea of government employees not out fighting crime.

I remember telling my father, I'd rather have a cop by a landline, rather than zooming around irritating citizens with pesky driving citations.

We finally agreed on something.

hellbannedguy··on Who Owns the US National Debt?
The world might understand if China gets cute though--with all that iron talk.

Maybe the USA is looking for a reason to not pay?

hellbannedguy··on A generation of American men give up on college
There's a book called, Everytjing I should have learned in Engineering School, but didn't.

I had no idea there were EE's walking around who were rusty with basic electrical formulas.
