hardik··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (April 2015)
Mumbai, India -- Looking for someone to set-up and head Web-team

We are a husband-and-wife team who have found modest success in our online merchandising business. Presently, we operate mostly through marketplace websites. We are looking to hire someone who can help set-up and run independent online presence of our brand.

Email me at afplindia.jobs@gmail.com with your details to take this forward

Edit: Regarding your location, it is imperative that the job be done on-site during the initial few months due to our involvement needed. We are willing to provide visa-assistance if we like you.

Yup

HTC Sense UI has this feature built into it.
hardik··on Go to Trial - Crash the Justice System
There is something informally called "trial tax" in the American justice system wherein if you decide to go for trial the punishment on guilty verdict is much higher than on plea bargain.

A famous case was that of Vincent Bogan in late 80s who was given a sentence of 75 years in maximum security for three counts of armed robbery (which is quite high for the crime charged) because he refused plea bargain and went for jury trial.

hardik··on New Boom Reshapes Oil World, Rocks North Dakota
I am surprised there is no mention of environmental impact of fracking and that some countries are planning to ban it.
hardik··on Life - The Dirty Yucky Messy Chaotic Process
Quite agree with you. Moreover, people who try to find structure are often left with a feeling of being let down. Perhaps it has become part of modern coming of age to realze that there is no structure. I think Tolstoy also tried to bring out this point in his works, esp War and Peace but also other works like Anna Karenina as well.
hardik··on Dear Department of Telecom, Government of India
+1 for the "storage by IIT toppers" :)

(at work now so cant access youtube but i guess the youtube link on cloud technology is the "What happens during rains?" interview?)

hardik··on Chrome Beats Internet Explorer To Become #2 Browser in India
Agree, I don't think StatCounter data can give a good representation of Indian internet population
hardik··on Some Apps Do Sell: Developer Makes $750K in 3 Weeks on Android Market
> (As an Android user, I do think it's strange to pay $15 for the home screen when the whole OS is free.)

Just saw this app in action on a friends Samsung Galaxy S II.. worth every cent!

hardik··on Ask HN: What Internal Knowledge Management tools are used in your company?
I have pushed dokuwiki in my department and now it is being adopted by several others. On a company level we have email and blogs (only by sen. mgmt)
hardik··on Why Instapaper Free is taking an extended vacation
I have had no issues with InstaFetch and it serves the purpose pretty well.
hardik··on Amazon to launch its own Android phone
How.. could.. I.. be.. so.. gullible? I really really believed this (I am the OP)
hardik··on Solve Homelessness: Cut Out The Middle Man
Interesting, just yesterday I read this critique of patronizing behaviour of the elite towards those whom they do charity for http://retributions.nationalinterest.in/trust-the-poor/ (In context to some welfare schemes in the Indian state of Bihar)
hardik··on Poll: How old are you?
It just hit me that from last month I am in 26-30. And its scary.
hardik··on Apps you want but can't find
Just bought an HTC Desire HD and this is what I miss:

1) An app which automatically takes snaps every x minutes. (I think iPhone has iSpybot which does this)

2) A good app that works as a car-cam (records last x mins. in video)

hardik··on Sexual desire, authenticity, and Internet business models
The article mentioned at least twice that "mainstream" porn companies are making videos that look like amateur porn because that is what the market wants.
hardik··on Hard Core: What Porn's Ubiquity Says About Men and Women
You are referring to the quality of porn but the point of the article was the variety of porn (implying there is an active demand of such varied tastes)
hardik··on Drupal 7 Released
Ah! Just yesterday I moved a site running on PostNuke+PNPHPBB2 to Drupal 6 like this:: PostNuke -> Drupal via manual SQL instructions on Drupal website | PNPHPBB2 -> vBulletin3 via Impex | vBulletin3 -> Drupal via vB2Drupal module

Now gotta get moving upgrading Drupal 6 to Drupal 7 :)

hardik··on Suicides in India show the dark side of micro-finance
I think SKS jumped the shark when they decided sometime in late 08/early 09 to directly sell gold & other consumer durables instead of providing cash lump sum.
hardik··on [dead]
I am not disputing that, only the fact that it got those upvotes is what troubles me.
hardik··on [dead]
Yes, Indian tourist spots have this sort of obsession with whites. Yes, there are indeed lot of poverty-stricken people in sorry state of affairs. I do not refute anything in the article as made-up or untrue.

But.. it is not the complete picture.

I am aghast that such a clearly biased piece has got as many as 6 upvotes at the time of posting this comment.

hardik··on Tell HN: Writing helps
Agree, I would actually want to revisit the experiences of the past, human memory is very tricky and it helps to have things written out to revisit how you felt about something.
hardik··on Ask HN: What's your favourite podcast?
This American Life; this is how an audio programme should be! (and I am not even an American :) )
hardik··on More than you ever wanted to know about Marijuana strains
Thanks for the response guys; I am wondering if there is a winner-bias at play here. (I don't expect too many drug "abusers" as referred in a comment above here on HN)
hardik··on More than you ever wanted to know about Marijuana strains
I completely respect the freedom of choice you are referring to in your questions but I am genuinely interested in finding out about marijuana's health risks.

Just like risk is a hard thing to quantify, so is "right kind of questions" hard to define. :)

hardik··on More than you ever wanted to know about Marijuana strains
I have observed most of HN community to be pro-marijuana. Having no real experiece here and being really curious, I would like to ask you guys this simple question: Is Marijuana risky for your health? Have you personally been affected?
hardik··on The best investment advice you'll never get
The recent surge of high frequency trading is in some part just that (fleecing of index funders) since these guys try to extract value from all trades happening in the market (and index funds will do some trades, albiet fewer than active funds)
hardik··on I'm Everyone, a live, anonymous image/video site (potentially NSFW).
How have you implemented the 'adult filter'?
