handbanana··on Finding Water in the Wild
4L of fluids, currently around 3L of water + 1L of milk.

If you're awake for around 16 hours, not sure why drinking an average of 500ml of fluids every 2 hours seems excessive to you. Or why drinking 1L of fluids every 2 hours (when your agenda for the day includes doing a 15 mile hike in hot weather) is considered a lot.

If what I've described above would make you go to the bathroom every 30 mins, perhaps see a doctor.

handbanana··on Finding Water in the Wild
I pace myself, I don't drink all of that at once, or quickly, and its not all water. Some of that fluid count is milk
handbanana··on Finding Water in the Wild
Not trolling. And it's 8L of fluid if I hiked 12-15 miles in hot climate that day. Not 8L on the hike itself
handbanana··on Finding Water in the Wild
I mean sure, that's sort of a given. Are you suggesting you don't piss?

Maybe you just hike differently to what I assumed.

I do the occasional hike anywhere from 4-8 miles and I usually drink an extra 1-2L for the day - that's how I reckon I'd double my intake for a 12-15 mile hike. I don't piss like a race horse, the hikes are in 95-105 degree weather, and I go at pace. To each their own.

handbanana··on Finding Water in the Wild
I drink at least 4L of fluid on a normal day. For what you describe I'd probably double it.

Fighting a war on two fronts did Germany in. Do some research on what contributed to that 20m and you’ll soon realize the number didn’t have to be nearly that high. Stalin was a political genius, but almost as atrocious as Hitler when it came to human rights
handbanana··on Blue Origin plans to charge at least $200K for space rides
Their model is not exclusively space tourism. I imagine this is either PR or fundraising (or a mix of the two).

handbanana··on East German Doping Victims Die 10 to 12 Years Earlier – psychologist
From my understanding a lot of it was pills too. Turinabol, an oral steroid, was invented in East Germany and to my knowledge used heavily during the doping years
handbanana··on The Great Apple Keyboard Cover-Up
I’d be interested to see a breakdown of reasons the keyboards failed for each model year.

And what percentage of the pre butterfly design were because of sand/dust etc. then contrast that to the butterfly design percentage. They could have merely improved reliability in another way(s) with the butterfly design.

handbanana··on The Great Apple Keyboard Cover-Up
I don’t dispute that. My point is they half-assed the fix
handbanana··on The Great Apple Keyboard Cover-Up
I fail to see how what they did is change “in a significant way”. It seems more of a bandaid to me. It almost signals an unwillingness to fundamentally change the keyboard design for the better
handbanana··on The Great Apple Keyboard Cover-Up
They didn't really fix it though, did they?

Some things of note:

UI is dated. Logo isn't great. Name isn't great. The help videos have terribly inappropriate music.

This looks rushed/outsourced, or both

handbanana··on Tech Giants Take Their Talent Hunt to Cambridge, UK
Well, UK officers don't carry guns as much as US officers do. UK officers also don't have to worry about guns as much. However, the lack of centralization of the US system and culture/mindset of the US officers (as a whole) are the main problems IMO

People are down voting because of the dice roll part. But it's not that far off reality when compared with other western nations

handbanana··on Felony Charges for 13-Year-Old Who Recorded His Conversation with School Admins
It was an awfully written blog post, which I mistook as an article.

I agree with the ridiculous assertion, given that I’m to be ashamed and the top reply to my comment includes the line “I'd take something with an angrier tone, like an appeal to fire the school principle and ban him from teaching for life.”

handbanana··on Felony Charges for 13-Year-Old Who Recorded His Conversation with School Admins
This article is extremely biased and poorly written. I'd prefer to read something coherent with a more neutral tone vs an angry one. Sucks for the 13 year old - a felony charge seems extreme.

It's certainly popular. I wonder if sites like github would be simpler for users, developers, and devops if they just embraced SPA - judging by your comment, maybe?

handbanana··on Does Column Width of 80 Make Sense in 2018?
I find 120 fine at work, I think 100 would be about as low as I’d go. Under that decreases readability (for me)
