The world record for the triple jump [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Triple_jump] is just over 18 meters, so quite a bit further than a 10 foot pole.

grimjack00··on Ask HN: Anyone know any funny programming jokes?
I can't believe this one isn't here yet:

I'd tell you a UDP joke, but you might not get it.

You can't perform the no-cost behavior of wearing a mask without, you know, _having_ a mask, which is not necessarily free.

I'm interested in how you think they are supposed to consume the drinks while wearing masks.

Not standalone. Last I recall, they _do_ have one, but it's much more expensive than Quest, and didn't have very good reviews.

grimjack00··on Ask HN: How do you switch off from work, particularly when working from home?
Here's what has worked for me:

- Close the laptop, disconnect it from power supply, external monitor, etc., and put it out of the way. I'm sharing my big monitor with my work laptop and my personal desktop. After I shut down the laptop, I start up my desktop even if I don't plan to use it immediately, so I'm looking at my personal background, not my work one. - Get out of the apartment and take a walk; to the mailbox, around the block, whatever. When I was working downtown, I almost always went out for lunch, and walked to a coffeeshop a couple blocks away to read. Now, I take this walk after work; anywhere from 15-30 minutes. - Change clothes, as others have suggested. I'm much more casual now than I would be in the office, but I change into "workout" clothes before my walk.

Must be a regional thing; I've never heard the term "slice pie".

Almost all the by-the-slice places I've been to take slices from their large or extra-large pies. The only exception I can think of would be Pinup Pizza on the Las Vegas strip (30 inch diameter pie).

grimjack00··on Record Numbers of Americans Try to Buy Guns
The anti-2a people are being very quiet, partly because one of their arguments as to why you do not need a gun is because you can just call the police. But that's not going to work when the large portion of the police force is otherwise occupied with protests or rioting, or after the police department has been defunded.

I'm glad I splurged on an Oculus Quest last year; BoxVR for 20-30 minutes every weekday morning, with some Beat Saber if I'm feeling especially energetic.
