There's a guy on my team who everyone thinks is a bad programmer and general looks down on, but he is always willing to help, does a thorough job and writes generally decent code. I have no idea where his reputation came from, but it would be a shame if he were let go based on his peer evaluation.
Agreed. That kind of attitude would honestly be kind of pathetic and sad if it didn't also impact other peoples lives. Anyone who thinks they're "granting" time to anyone isn't someone I want to listen to.
That does appear to be a blindspot of his... For all that he likes to write about transformational technology and other factors that can transcend geography, he doesn't like to include stuff like green energy or even climate change in general in his model.
It's steroids and hard work. Most people can achieve a comparable look (of marvel movies, not mass monster bodybuilders) with years of hard work, with the exception of maybe some delt size.
Oh yeah, and I have dwarf varieties in my yard due to space limitations... But it's sad to see old, beautiful orchards of big trees reduced to more of an industrial process.
Depends on the show (IASIP has been funny until recently, South Park is still good, et cetera), but I agree that shows shouldn't have the life wrung out of them
Esopus spitzenburgs and golden russets cover the raw fruit bases for me. Lodi is a great early variety for baking. I definitely understand the appeal of Honeycrisp, but it is very sad seeing old orchards of Macs and galas and empires being ripped down in favour of rows of dwarf honeycrisps
Who you are born as is random, but who will have children with higher IQ is not. Work ethic is less nature and more nurture than IQ, or at least feels that way intuitively.
Wtf kind of entry level software jobs are you talking about lol? 50k is 11k more than the median family income here in Canada. You're right, though, it's still less than a new truck.
What is the point of thinking this way? My due process could be if your name starts with an F, you get beheaded, otherwise you get a pardon. That's stupid, and not deserving of respect. Due process based on religion ending in BEHEADING is likewise stupid. The only way we improve is if some du process is more deserving of respect than others...
Didn't vikings do shrooms before they went and hacked at each other with iron weapons? I felt very peaceful and empathetic on shrooms, but it might be too much to hope that is a universal response...
I find high skill hockey more entertaining than bruiser hockey, so I'm happy for now! Hockey has had terrible eras in the past, like the advent of the neutral zone trap. There was an infamous game in which a defenseman just held on to the puck and skated around his own end for minutes at a time rather than try to get through the trap.
Hockey has proven somewhat stubborn. Coaches will pull the goalie earlier now, and there is more of an emphasis on skilled players rather than nasty players, but I'm not convinced the latter wouldn't have happened in the absence of analytics. There was a wave of excitement when Kyle Dubas and a few other young GMs started hyping up analytics and new stats like expected goals and possession metrics and stuff, but as far as I can tell, it hasn't had a huge impact on the game.
