educationdata··on Poverty leaves a mark on our genes
So what? Civial engineers don't use cutting edge physics, but the construction they designed won't collapse bc of that.
educationdata··on Researchers discuss the challenges posed by science’s embrace of English
Academic settings like discussion panel in professional conference? No.

Private gathering during professional conference? Yes.

educationdata··on Poverty leaves a mark on our genes
No. It's not about whether there was "a lot" more. It's about how much it can add on top of "nature vs. nurture" to explain common social phenomena. It is very possible the new knowledge can be 100 times more complicated, but it only adds 1% more explanation power to everyday phenomena.

Take physics as an example, quantum physics has "a lot" more than classical physics, but no physicists will discard classical physics as being no longer valid, or no longer useful for explaining everyday physical world, or you should always use quantum physics in engineering, etc.

educationdata··on Poverty leaves a mark on our genes
I still don't buy the "There is no nature vs. nurture" statement. Maybe there's more than nature vs. nurture, or more complicated than nature vs. nurture. But totally no nature vs. nurture? Overstatement.
educationdata··on Chinese Cash Is Suddenly Toxic in Silicon Valley, Following U.S. Pressure
The anti-American rhetoric has always been there, no matter what. The Communist party can even blame the tiananmen square massacre on the western world. This is called brainwash.
educationdata··on WeChat and the Surveillance State
What is more scary is that there are many Chinese Americans using WeChat to connect with family members. There is no doubt some of them work in the U.S. government or other sensitive companies or agencies. By tracking their location alone, the Chinese government can obtain huge amount of data.
educationdata··on Tiananmen Square: What happened in the protests of 1989?
One of the best songs for the event: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4PJVLTrjt0

I remember there was a youtube video with better quality, but I cannot find it any more.

educationdata··on Trump's Next Trade War Target: Chinese Students at Elite Schools
Yes. At that time many Chinese students got green card by taking advantage of the 1989-6-4 (Today is a special day) massacre. There is a special term for those kind of green cards: blood cards. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinese_Student_Protection_Act...

It turns out, after a decade, most of those blood card scholars have no problem to work for the communist party government at all, as long as they can get paid.

educationdata··on Trump's Next Trade War Target: Chinese Students at Elite Schools
Not really. Most Chinese PhD students have full assistantship.

Most Chinese undergraduate students won't be able to get job in the US anyway.

Your second and first paragraphs are talking about different things.

educationdata··on Updated Dropbox plans get more storage and improved capabilities
Exactly. I do NOT want to use business plan for my family!

They still do not address whether shared folder count against your space. It is just stupid. This means I can not share the photo folder with my family members. If I have 500G of photos, and I share the photo folder with my other family members, it will take 500G from each one of them? How ridiculous it is! This is why I have to convert from Dropbox to OneDrive. I still use Dropbox without subscription, because it auto renames camera photos.

educationdata··on What's the difference between 0/0 and 1/0?
One thing related: I do find I frequently need to check the date of a answer to find out whether it's out of date. Then, ......, I can't find where the year is. Their date format is so bizarre .......
educationdata··on China, Leverage, and Values
This is more an outsider's imagination. The communist party will never make this kind of deal with you. Bringing this kind of topic to the table will immediately make them walk away.

Right now the US administration is limiting the trade talk within trade talk, avoiding politics. However, if the trade talk really falls apart, I have no doubt the conflict will escalate and politics will be openly involved.

educationdata··on China, Leverage, and Values
You totally miss the point. The problem is never about China's "endless cheap junk". It is about the rising economic / technology / military power of this authoritarian state, which is a threat to the whole world.
educationdata··on 60% of male managers now say they're uncomfortable mentoring women
No. Real world is not that simple. Certain things are only considered harass between man and woman, but not between same sex. For example, asking to meet (drink, sports, etc.) after work. So there's a choice between either "ignore" or "harass".

Yes, you don't have to do these, but some people just like buddyhood kind of binding more than others.

educationdata··on SAT to Add ‘Adversity Score’ That Rates Students’ Hardships
One thing I have to say about this SAT thing is that, there are lots lots of Asians working in SAT as statisticians, psychometricians, and analysts. There must be lots of Asians working on the project related to the 'Adversity Score', unless they intentionally exclude Asians from this project.

But we've never heard anything about internal disagreement or resistant against this stuff. This fact tells something.

educationdata··on Incognito no more: Publishers close loopholes as paywall blockers emerge
Most people read title to make up their minds. Unfortunately.
educationdata··on Free Dropbox Accounts Now Only Sync to Three Devices
Also important to notice: OneDrive does not count shared folder from other users against you. See: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/add-and-sync-shared...

So with shared folders, you can have 5T space in OneDrive.

Also Office 365 Home is $80/year on Amazon.

educationdata··on Yale's online class on “The Science of Well-Being”
Why does the teacher put "Well-Being" in the course title, instead of "Happiness", even when the course is totally about happiness? Does this mean happiness is the same as well-being? I highly doubt it.
educationdata··on Adults learn language to fluency nearly as well as children: study
There is something special about language though. Existing language can be a barrier in learning new language, especially pronunciation. It is well known that some people just cannot perceive certain syllables (therefor also cannot produce those syllables) because of the language they already known. So there is something special about kids learning a language.
educationdata··on What happened after my 13-year-old son joined the alt-right
> we just don't think it's in any way a reason to treat them differently

This is blatantly false. At least different skin color can lead to different treatment in face makeup and portrait photography. Not to mention all sorts of different needs from men and women. Your belief of biological differences should have no impact on social implication cannot be more wrong.

educationdata··on What happened after my 13-year-old son joined the alt-right
If what you said is true, I would definitely have seen fascist videos, but I haven't. I really doubt your theory.
educationdata··on What happened after my 13-year-old son joined the alt-right
OK. I believe that. But does this mean you watched fascist video by yourself, otherwise YouTube wouldn't recommend those videos to you, right?
educationdata··on What happened after my 13-year-old son joined the alt-right
How is PragerU fascist?
educationdata··on What happened after my 13-year-old son joined the alt-right
Really? I haven't seen any fascist video on YouTube. Yes, there are lots of right-wing videos. Fascist? I don't believe there are that many on YouTube, unless you define fascist as anything anti-left.
educationdata··on What happened after my 13-year-old son joined the alt-right
Don't private schools also have zero tolerance policies?
educationdata··on China backtracked on almost all aspects of U.S. trade deal – sources
China is playing the old game, negotiation and negotiation and negotiation, never intend to make any change. They can even make promise to make changes after long long long negotiations and never do anything. And then when someone finally decide to do something about it, they will ask for a new round of negotiation and negotiation and negotiation.

Xi will stay in power may be in next 20 years, and he knows US will have general election in every 4 years. Trump gets the idea: https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/11261065400150712...

educationdata··on Why are we governed by incompetents?
Advisers and civil servants, and so called "experts" are also part of the problem. Not just politicians, people who are given incredible amount of trust as experts are also incredibly incompetent.

Look what CIA/FBI did pre-911 and post-911, pre-2016-election and post-2016-election, those are extraordinary incompetent and corrupt people, but they still pretend they have "high honor".

On top of those, is the corrupt mainstream media, they don't even try to be journalists any more. They have no shame. Watching former CIA director John O. Brennan "confidently" bullsh*ting on the national TV over and over again, I am not sure who is more shameless, Brennan or the media?

educationdata··on You can’t judge housing affordability without knowing transportation costs
They also choose not get married or not having children or only have one child, which all have negative impact on the society. They think a tiny apartment is good, depending on bike or public transportation is good, only because they don't want raise children.
educationdata··on Cambridge University Fires a Young Scholar for 'Problematic Research'
You answered wrong question. klohto never asked you whether using data is enough for science. he was asking how is this racist. Do you mean if it is not enough for science then it must be racist?
educationdata··on Cambridge University Fires a Young Scholar for 'Problematic Research'
Which part of your quote has anything to do with "racist", "pseudoscience" ?
