ebun··on In Lieu of Money, Toyota Donates Efficiency to New York Charity
VolunteerMatch.com is a great site to use for seeking Opportunities. Orgs with tech needs often post there seeking help.
ebun··on Draft (YC S11) Is The Best Word Processor You Can Write With Today
Cool app. The UI reminds me of 750words.com.

However, I was surprised not to receive a welcome email after signing up.

ebun··on Trello celebrates One Million Users
You can also use the app on an iPod touch, which doesn't have a persistent connection
ebun··on Trello celebrates One Million Users
The iOS app still requires an internet connection to sync anything.
ebun··on Nigerian scammer gets a laptop from me
That still doesn't mean it was sent to Nigeria. It just confirms that, for whatever reason, the author assumed the recipient was in Nigeria. The recipient may have very well been in Nigeria but he offers no definitive evidence.
ebun··on Craigslist posts shown on a map while viewing Craigslist housing
FYI, http://www.housingmaps.com/ is still a decent CL housing + Map mashup
ebun··on Show HN: Recycled a piano into a work desk
Any photos?
ebun··on Google Fiber Plans & Pricing
I'd guess that their customer service would take a different, 21st century approach. I'd never call customer support for a gmail or google calendar issue...maybe a similar approach will emerge with these plans
ebun··on Of Google's First 20 Employees, How Many Are Still There?
Great response. For the "retired" who stayed on, what sort of impact did their newfound attitudes have on things? Did they play a part in any of the major new products or improvements that came later?
ebun··on Cheddar
Agree 100%. I use Evernote for longer notes, but a Moleskine for quickies.
ebun··on Show HN: A new way to view IAmA's on Reddit
This is MUCH better than the reddit version. If they're okay with you doing this, I whole-heartedly support your efforts here and wish you the best of luck with this endeavor
ebun··on API Design - Matt Gemmell
"APIs are UX for developers."

This simple statement just changed the way that I think about API's.

ebun··on Owning Your Words: Personal Clouds Build Professional Reputations
Disqus?
ebun··on Your Circles, now in Google Voice
I think you got downvoted b/c it was off topic
ebun··on Maintain a Rockin’ Blog for Your Startup
Subdomain seems to be the defacto standard but a subfolder is much better for SEO
ebun··on Show HN: I made a social network for musicians
This is a big deal to HN types, but not necessarily to all other demographics on the internet. If he could guesstimate that a large majority of his users were active FB users, the single log-in option may be worth the trade-off
ebun··on Spare Me From “Product Guys”
Product Manager here. Are most PM's really that non-technical?

I have a B.S. in Computer Engineering and worked as a dev for 3 years before becoming a PM. I thought that my path into product management was a common one. Is this not the case?

ebun··on Mint.com turns 404 ad page into date ad for developer

ebun··on Be interesting (and other ways to help land a job/internship at a startup)
This advice helps you not only land the role, but keep it. Companies love having interesting people work for them.

ebun··on What happens when you don't sanitize data input
there was an xkcd comic with the same premise a couple of years back
ebun··on Ask HN: What startup has the best name?
Not sure if you'd still consider it a startup, but PayPal has a great name that complements their service extremely well.
ebun··on Hosting Images With Google Storage Manager
Looks almost exactly like S3, except I don't think Amazon provides a drag-and-drop interface through their web-client. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
ebun··on Amber Alerts Come to Facebook
I know a lot of HNer's tend to dislike FB, but I can't think of a faster way to get the word out of missing children than this.
ebun··on John Dvorak: Why I Don't Use Facebook
"Which begs the question as to why anyone would use Facebook when it is essentially AOL done right?"

I'm often taken aback when I hear/read these kind of comments. It shows the gulf between most web users and a minority of techies.

ebun··on Facebook Wins Relatively Few Friends in Japan
I live in Japan and often access FB through my cheap, simple Softbank phone and service.

Unfortuantely, I can't take screenshots but FB has done a great job of making it easy to use. It even leverages various common emoticons as icons for everything ranging from "Home" to "Search" to "Messages".

And btw, it wasn't always this way; they made the change earlier this year.

ebun··on My name is Luke Seeley and I've lost interest in my personal website.
I wish there was some context there.
ebun··on If you could give a book to your younger self, what would it be?
Naked Economics - A great book on understanding how the world works in simple economic terms
ebun··on Sources: Groupon rejects Google’s offer; will stay independent
Can you (or anyone) elaborate on "The founders, employees, and other insiders of Groupon have already been handsomely paid off."? My understanding is that the handsome payoff comes when the company is either bought out or IPO's
