For anyone that is not aware oglaf.com is very NSFW. You may want to edit your post to make that obvious.

I would argue that we're noticing mental health problems because in most cases survival is not an issue in modern society. This is not to claim mental health problems didn't exist prior but there was an interesting podcast about suicide and how it affects people more from good backgrounds that don't have the level of success that their peers have.

Not sure about employees running their own company but Facebook opened up more EU remote hiring.

I've been on the other side. When your VPN transaction fraud rate is much higher than your non-VPN transaction fraud rate and the volume is lower it's a no-brainer to react negatively to a VPN.

This is a violation of the regulator guidance for the ePrivacy Directive. So I wouldn't trust anything on this site when they themselves aren't compliant with EU directives and regulations.

I would point you at board certified doctors.

"SR 17's combination of narrow shoulders, dense traffic, sharp turns, blind curves, wandering fauna such as deer and mountain lions, and sudden changes in traffic speeds have led to a number of collisions and fatalities, leading to the reputation of SR 17 as one of the most dangerous highways in the state. In the winter months, because SR 17 crosses a high precipitation area in the Santa Cruz Mountains, the roadway can become slippery from rain, snow or ice, especially at the summit." [0]

Where did you get the assertion that a central bank is a private organization? What evidence do you have for that?

A response completely bereft of any logical argument about why taxation is "theft and slavery". Do you have any arguments that would support this assertion?

Fun story time. I had a manager who used to work for Microsoft. Apparently he had to talk to a bunch of people before he could get Office to install properly when not running as Admin. This is pre-Vista release but it shows that even Microsoft didn't always write their software in way that was the best for their own OS.

How did you find it? I'd love to buy a few of these a year but the information I can find seems to be for either brick-and-mortar or angel/vc investments.

SOX. SOX mandates that you have reasonable controls to secure financial information and it appears they didn't. Every SOX audit I've been through has a IT security portion.

You know that you can just opt out of credit based offers and it stops the majority of this kind of mail? No need to find rocks to mail.

I never knew Writer's cramp could cause death? Seems rather extreme for something that prevents you from writing to cause death?

Mukesh Ambani's dad was NOT lower quintile by any standard: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhirubhai_Ambani

I slogged through the tweets and discovered that you can solve the problem by taking a very smart physicist and giving them an intern to do grunt work. Twitter was the best way to give this advice with about 80% of the tweets essentially adding 0 or negative useful information.

I'm assuming parent is asking for evidence around the "shrinking" part of the claim

Seeing "Jump start you language learning." when I click on a deck doesn't engender confidence in the product quality even if the website is held to a different standard than the decks themselves.

A mobile user interface that actually is designed for a mobile device?

It's a trap. "Enough to cover our expenses" means the ad rates have to be high enough and for them to be high enough the advertisers have to get good performance. We'll see how well this comment ages.

Don't wait. If you're feeling the burn ask for help or find something else NOW.

I don't have a 9/11 flying story but exactly the week before 9/11 my family and I flew United 93 from Newark to SFO. I was woken up at 6 AM by my family in New Jersey calling me to tell me they were all safe which confused me until I booted up my computer and saw the headlines on Yahoo! News. I didn't save my boarding pass stub.

Given that every other channel is reporting decreases in revenue I'm going to ask you to provide some proof of this assertion. It should be fairly easy to find.

Huh, from reading the article I came to the exact opposite conclusion, the author feels that Hacker News has not decayed as much as reddit and never will as the incentives are different.

I do not but I will bet money it's the NYT's take on https://www.cnn.com/2020/06/19/business/robinhood-suicide-al...

Is it just me or do these sites not realize that "We will never sell your email" does nothing for me? It's not that you'll sell it's that you will get hacked or lose a laptop or have an admin email everyone and then I will get spam. How do others at HN deal with this (disposable emails and prefix/suffix are a huge pain)

I think about this most days. The problem is that startups that fail put you very far behind relative to peers and the majority of startups fail.

It's fun, but it's also gambling with your financial future.
