Maybe they mean this

"Zsh is able to emulate POSIX shells, but its default mode is not POSIX compatible, either."

Thanks for sharing this. To the author, if you're reading this, thanks for putting your work up on Github.
dous··on Only Apple
Announcing (almost final) products once you're sure they will be released seems better than announcing "plans".
dous··on Ask HN: I can't do this anymore, I need help
Depending on which country you live in, taxes can be a real pain and will only leave you with a small bit of your salary. Not to mention transportation could eat up a lot your otherwise "free time" in the evenings. :(

I do agree that freelancing would definitely give some nice extra income but only if you're disciplined enough to find time for it.

dous··on XKCD 1190 is now more individual frames than there are XKCD comics.
http://xkcd.com/1190/ changes every 30 minutes if I'm not mistaken. The link shows all the frames since the comic was published.
dous··on Ask HN: Technology behind Push Notification
"push" requires that an open connection be maintained, while "poll" means you connect multiple times.

Seems like there were + prefixes before - https://www.alien.net.au/irc/chantypes.html

I can't remember exactly where I first encountered the plus prefix (it's been a long time), but I remember # and + more than &.

Which doesn't seem to be loading for me.

Edit: nevermind, retried a few times and it's ok now

dous··on New github file browser
Are you referring to the new UI behavior (new at least to me, since this is the first time I've seen this) when you click on directories/files in the repository file browser like in https://github.com/git/git for example?

I don't really use the github file browser frequently enough to be able to tell if the async loading of the files/directories is what you're referring to. Plus, linking to the github home page was kind of confusing.

dous··on I laughed at Posterous, but they proved me wrong
You can have multiple blogs associated with the same email. I'm just not sure if it's possible to create a new one by sending an email as the first post.
dous··on Ask HN: How many of you look at the code of open-source software you use?
Patcher - Some package translations on Ubuntu (does that count?), Patcher - iUI, One-off - some jQuery libraries
dous··on So, you're gonna code the whole thing, do the servers and work for sweat equity...
Unfortunately, in some locations, a yearly salary increase isn't even a given. I'd say having something is a pretty darned good deal.

Is this some kind of advertising campaign?

Not really news. Not even accurate.
dous··on Coding Without Comments
as time goes, people tend to write less comments
dous··on The argument against "downvote". A slight violation of the First Amendment
Regarding stories, I think off-topic ones should be downvoted/deleted. Off-topic being defined as "Most stories about politics, or crime, or sports, unless they're evidence of some interesting new phenomenon. Videos of pratfalls or disasters, or cute animal pictures. If they'd cover it on TV news, it's probably off-topic." Having this text or a link to the guidelines on the submit page would probably be nice. (see http://ycombinator.com/newsguidelines.html)

Regarding comments, there are also some guidelines and not following those guidelines clearly deserve a downvote. I personally think that downvotes shouldn't be used to "say that you disagree". I prefer that it be used to filter out useless comments.

dous··on Ask YC: What do you use to develop applications for Macs?
I actually use Emacs for editing code on Windows when I work on Python or Ruby stuff. :)

I don't really use .Net or VS but yes, I agree that he should definitely take a look at Xcode.

dous··on Ask YC: What do you use to develop applications for Macs?
Xcode to organize the project, Emacs for editing, Make (with targets that use xcodebuild to do the actual building and stuff).

It's kinda weird, I know, but I just prefer to use Emacs for editing instead of Xcode.

dous··on Ask YC: Which OS are you using on your app's server(s)?
Only Debian.
dous··on I think this mental health site might need a new webmaster.
I agree but I think this is off-topic, IMHO.
