I have to correct my partner here as his memory is a bit fuzzy. :) We tried a low tier price ($15/m vs regular $49/m) but it did not make any significant difference in signups.
We targeted the high-end of the WordPress market where we competed against Kinsta, WP Engine, Flywheel etc. And the problem there was they were "good enough" (and in some ways muhc better) as I mention in the blog post.
At the same time, the lowend SiteGround had prices below $5/m so we couldn't compete against them in that segment as we were paying more than that to Google Cloud.
Also, your toothbrush example is actually illegal and considered a tax evasion by EU and probably most Western countries.
Taxes are way more complicated than you're trying to show. Also, don't underestimate the IRS.
> The most interesting thing is that we’ve moved away from PayPal in the last two years and have only been receiving some minor payments and paying for a few online services.
We've stopped using PayPal for our SaaS business a few years ago.

For example: affiliate marketing and the whole internet marketing scene is making teens millionaires. I've been in London on this guy's conference:
http://www.georgemontagubrown.com/
He's become a millionaire in 2 years, starting when he was 17. Sure, he is somewhat "special", but I've been following internet marketing and there are 15 year olds that are making 5k$ /month just with affiliate marketing.
You think you're at least as capable as 15 or 17 year old? I sure think I am. Though there is a bitter taste to it all - the above guy made 100k$ with a method, then he sold the method to the public and made himself a millionaire.
Browse a little through IM scene and you'll see it's a totally different world. But it might not be your cup of tea. ;)
But you can't review your affiliates or in anyway edit their payment process.
On the other hand they have over 10.000 affiliates in all niches.
It all depends on what your priorities are - do you want an army of affiliates or would you just like to offer the program to a few selected ones.
(I'm in no way affiliated with Clickbank, we're also looking for payment processing for our web app)
