dantaylor08··on Ask HN: What do you struggle with?
Shoot me an email (in bio). We're hiring.
dantaylor08··on The Case for the Subway
I jumped in here hoping this was about sandwiches.
dantaylor08··on How New York City Gets Its Electricity
What surprised me, is that 54% of the energy of NYC comes from what is arguably clean energy, if you include nuclear in the mix. That's even more impressive if you consider how long it's been since the nuclear power capacity of NYC has expanded.
dantaylor08··on On Getting Older in Tech
If you're looking for help, drop me a line. As a young(er) engineer, I live in terror every day of what may come down the road.
dantaylor08··on Ask HN: My work permit was just denied because I don't have a degree. Can I
According to this: https://www.sem.admin.ch/sem/en/home/themen/arbeit/nicht-eu_... there may be a way for you to get in without a degree. I'm not a Swiss immigration lawyer though. A good one can save you a lot of time and headache (and a potential lost opportunity).
dantaylor08··on Go's first commit
Much more interesting (first language spec commit): https://github.com/golang/go/commit/18c5b488a3b2e218c0e0cf2a...
dantaylor08··on FBI Makes Official Its Decision to Keep Apple iPhone Hack Secret
I don't even really trust that they _did_ hack it. Could just be a safe way out when they realized apple wouldn't back down.
dantaylor08··on Google says self-driving car hits municipal bus in minor crash
Maybe you do. I mostly spend every moment in terror when someone else is driving.
dantaylor08··on Golang script to send and receive events with a tiny simple API
I've used almost this exact pattern (in Go) for a data normalization system. Considered sharing the code, but "never got around to it". What I built actually closely resembled node.js's streams.

Really convenient when you've got various chains of transformations that need to be combined/reordered/dropped while processing streams of data.

dantaylor08··on Eye Sim – The eyesight simulator
Testing against my wife (I don't wear glasses), and according to her the results are extremely exaggerated. If her eyesight were as bad as the simulator suggests, she wouldn't be able to live a normal life without glasses (which she is perfectly capable.)
dantaylor08··on Astute.io – Business Intelligence For Startups
No, I will not sign up for a trial of your product when you don't provide me any concrete information on how it's used/how it works. And yes, I am a potential customer for products in this market.
