codeddesign··on PBS News Hour West to go dark after ASU discontinues contract
Again, this would be the Legislative branch. Your right to vote has not decreased, and you can absolutely contact your senator to introduce a bill for what you stated. I mean, you have a representative. Absolutely use them if you dislike something.

However, disagreeing with the Legislative or Executive branch in no way erodes your democratic rights.

codeddesign··on PBS News Hour West to go dark after ASU discontinues contract
Like it or not, the entire response is accurate.
codeddesign··on PBS News Hour West to go dark after ASU discontinues contract
That part is fairly easy to understand with a few google searches. Journalism programs are at a loss across the country and have been in decline for some time. When a university program is not profitable they close the program.

Low wages, less employment opportunity, and the decrease in interest of writing. Combine this with social media and the age of influencers - you suddenly have a huge decline across the board.

Journalism is not what you see on tv. Those are essentially actors and are the 1%. The rest are those writing in newspapers (in decline) and making barely livable wages with most on contract rather than salary. It’s an incredibly difficult line of work when it comes to wages and job security.

codeddesign··on The US govt has revoked the non-immigrant visa of Nobel laureate Wole Soyinka [video]
Political games like this guy is playing drive me crazy, and then people believe him and don’t do any research.

This guy has a U.S. green card. The letter from USCIS (immigration) is because he previously had a travel visa in his passport that is now invalid since he has a green card. He was claiming that he would protest the U.S. by entering on the visa rather than his green card - at the same time USCIS informed him that the visa was (correctly) being revoked (due to green card status)

codeddesign··on A Chinese whistleblower living in the US is being hunted by Beijing with US tech
Asylum: “protection to people who fear political persecution in their home country due to a protected characteristic”

Example: Asylum is intended for political persecution. If you feel unsafe living in Chicago because a gang is after you, that doesn’t fall under the definition of asylum for you to move to London.

If you are being rounded up by the govt and placed in a jail because of your religion, that would be a case for asylum.

If your country wants to try you for a crime and you flee, that makes you a fugitive and that’s why there is “extradition”. This would not be a case for asylum.

codeddesign··on A Chinese whistleblower living in the US is being hunted by Beijing with US tech
In September 2025, he failed to show up for court.

https://www.lawinfochina.com/Search/DisplayInfo.aspx?id=3786...

I am all for political asylum, but traveling to the other side of the world, entering a country by declaring you are a visitor, then filing for asylum to stay, all while being a fugitive for embezzlement in your own country is nothing less than fraud.

codeddesign··on US will now review H-1B applicants' social media – require them to make public
Highly relevant as it makes your point mute.

The highest quality of talent is already not being brought in. A very specific pool of people are, and not for reasons of talent.

codeddesign··on US will now review H-1B applicants' social media – require them to make public
If companies were looking for talent, 80% of H1B’s wouldn’t be from India, but from a much more diverse set of countries. The fact is that India culture is much more so subservient, willing to work more for less pay, won’t unionize, don’t follow major US/Euro holidays, don’t care about work/life balance..etc. Like it or not, it’s nothing more than exploitation as cattle to increase bottom line and sold as increased output.
codeddesign··on We're committing $6.25B to give 25M children a financial head start
So..a 401k At least the 401k is pre-tax. This on the other hand is taxed on both ends. Maybe I am missing something, but I really don’t see the upside.

codeddesign··on Private equity firms are snapping up mobile home parks, driving out residents
How is this different than owning a house or a condo? A house you still pay property tax on the land. A condo you still pay an association fee. Both of which generally go up continually every year.

This is also not a surprise that they don’t own the land. At any time they can move their mobile home, unlike a house or condo. They fully know what they signed up for.

codeddesign··on Why insurers worry the world could soon become uninsurable
Many people don’t understand that insurance companies only make an 8-12% margin. Since each state requires all insurance companies to gain pricing approval to sell in their state (Filings), if healthcare costs go up within a given year the insurance company loses money. We don’t have an insurance issue, we have a healthcare and inflation cost issue. Same goes with home insurance.

What many don’t know: if you don’t like your insurance cost, it’s because of state legislation and cost in YOUR state - not federal govt.

codeddesign··on Florida is letting companies make it harder for highly paid workers to swap jobs
This is limited to industry category and employee’s keep their current pay. How is this bad?
codeddesign··on Florida is letting companies make it harder for highly paid workers to swap jobs
“They would keep their pay and benefits but wouldn't be entitled to bonuses”

I fail to see the issue here. The employee’s would continue to receive pay for up to 4 yrs to keep the non-compete.

codeddesign··on Florida is letting companies make it harder for highly paid workers to swap jobs
“They would keep their pay and benefits but wouldn't be entitled to bonuses”

This seems like a win for both sides. Employee’s would still be paid for keeping the non-compete.

codeddesign··on Flint, Michigan replaces most lead pipes 10 years after Michigan water crisis
Sue for what and who? The lead pipes weren’t illegal and pipes being lead weren’t hidden from the public. Beyond that, the water travels through multiple counties to get the Flint. Regarding healthcare - that is actually run on a state level since Obama. Each state has the choice to subsidize healthcare or not. There is no “nationalized” in this, unless you are talking about Medicaid? In that case, all medical is private and can choose which insurers they want to accept, including Medicaid. For those that have Medicaid know it’s absolutely horrible to work with and even worse for doctors. The only real solution is that each state exponentially increases income taxes to cover private insurance. However, if they did that it would be a political death sentence.

“Startup makes eugenics available to consumers”.

I’m personally fine with this, but let’s call it what it is.

codeddesign··on Border agents plan to photograph everyone leaving the US by car
China also has a gestapo style immigration policy.

I don’t disagree with you. Leaders in this country have made a mockery of our immigration policy and something needs to be done to fix it.

codeddesign··on Censorship concerns rise over Texas bill; Abilene bookstore pushes back
Again…I don’t see the argument. There are already laws at federal and state levels..in every state.

Are you saying that while a company would be responsible (current laws), an employee should not because of free speech?? (proposed law)

codeddesign··on Censorship concerns rise over Texas bill; Abilene bookstore pushes back
I think you may be missing the point here. There is already laws in the books at the federal and state levels. The law in question defines who is responsible based upon current laws.
codeddesign··on Censorship concerns rise over Texas book bill; Abilene bookstore pushes back
The would be a combination of congress and state legislation. You can’t distribute porn to minors for example..try in any state and see what happens.

Regardless, this bill isn’t around speech, it’s who is responsible based upon current laws.

codeddesign··on Censorship concerns rise over Texas bill; Abilene bookstore pushes back
It drives me crazy when people make argument like this without pointing to the actual legislation.

https://legiscan.com/TX/bill/HB1375/2025

After reading the bill, I don’t see the argument.

The bill is around expanding the current laws involving directly selling or distributing media to minors where not only the business but also the employee would be held responsible.

codeddesign··on Why Warm Climates Tend to Create Poor Economies
There is no simple answer here…it’s a mix of scenarios: migration, resources, cultures, historical needs, and govt policies, and corruption.

The US population expanded from the North East where the Industrial Revolution began. Economic jobs boomed and so did wealth. California created a tech boom, and Texas created an oil boom. While southern and middle states lack technology, industry, precious metals.

Major European countries (cold) joined forces economically to prevent ruin, while middle eastern countries (warm) face USSR style corruption.

In Russia, most of the countries resources are reverted to Moscow or St Petersburg. While warmer AND colder areas of the country lack basic funding/upkeep.

South Africa has the highest GDP in Africa primarily due to historical colonialism stabilizing the area and turning it into a major port. While surrounding countries are 1/10th the GDP due to govt policies and corruption.

The east side of Australia is heavily built up compared to the rest of the country. This is due to port access and farmland while the west coast is much more dry and rocky.

Obviously this isn’t exhaustive, but serves the point. There is no single answer and “warm is poor” only applies to VERY select regions.

codeddesign··on Unrecord dev posts noclip video to prove the realistic bodycam FPS isn't 'fake'
My guess is that you don’t have children. Adults have the ability of discernment due to life experience. Children do not.
codeddesign··on Unrecord dev posts noclip video to prove the realistic bodycam FPS isn't 'fake'
The realism is insane. There is a danger in our ever increasing advancements of gameplay. I can only imagine a child playing this and thinking they have a health bar IRL. Super cool from a technology standpoint. A little scary from a societal standpoint.
codeddesign··on Twitter to label tweets that get downranked for violating its hate speech policy
How is this any different than the prior censoring? I’ve been a big proponent with many of the changes, but you either censor or you don’t. Physical safety is one thing, legalities are another, but preventing hurtful speech IS censorship.
codeddesign··on Musk changes CBC’s label to ‘69% government funded’ after CBC Twitter pause

codeddesign··on Office vacancies in San Francisco jump to a record 33%
I’m sorry, but you blame ICE vehicle??
codeddesign··on Chipotle plans to ditch gas grills at 100 new locations
100 locations, so it appears it’s for new locations.

The bigger question is “Why?” and “How?”.

Gas is more cost efficient than electric. So the cost burden has to drop on somebody…likely the consumer.

Beyond that, most geographic locations aren’t producing “green” electricity to actually cut down on emissions as Chipotle is claiming.

To actually have them cut down on emissions, you essentially have to increase emissions - pulling out raw material, transportation, manufacturing, more transportation..etc.

It looks good in marketing, but until we are able to limit emissions in manufacturing and creating electricity, it’s all puff.

codeddesign··on NPR quits Twitter after being labeled as 'state-affiliated media'
Parties absolutely have access to these outlets. We all have to be blind to think that if Biden request WP to write something positive, they wouldn’t? Same with Fox and Trump. Does the govt use influence to persuade news outlets? Of course they do. Any major news outlet that says they are 100% independent and doesn’t have some percentage of outside influence is outright lying.

Does the Whitehouse (in general) use press access passes as bartering chip, yes of course!

With that said, “state-affiliated” depends on criteria. Whether it’s agreed upon or not, Twitter set their criteria. Other outlets set their criteria as well…on news, politics, health, and illicit.
