braco_alva··on From where I left
"Game Programming Patterns" has been of huge help throughout my career and it's always my go to recommendation for new game programmers and reading your comment makes me feel even more grateful that you made the effort of writing it, thanks for writing such a great book!
braco_alva··on Google terminated our business via our Google Play Developer Account
This exact thing happened to me too. They claimed click fraud and terminated my account.

It was 10 years ago, and I have tried to make an appeal about it but always with the same response.

braco_alva··on StageXL: A Flash-like Dart Library Ready for Production Level Games
For what I see on the Showcase games, they are canvas, but I really hope it supports webgl also, looks like an interesting library.
braco_alva··on GitLab 6.3 released: open-source software to collaborate on code
I don't know about the resources part, but the installation should be easy using Bitnami

braco_alva··on On Game Development
Good post!

I specially liked the "Why should people bother playing the game I make?" part. I keep making myself this question over and over again, and your answer really clicked with me.

braco_alva··on Appmaker
Glad to hear I'm not the only one, the whole concept looks really interesting, but for a walkthrough, the Cat.random thing is kind of confusing.
braco_alva··on HelloRun - A WebGL 3D Game
AFAIK it only does NaCl besides their Web Player.
braco_alva··on Android developers, stop making casual games
I think they're just referring to the subcategory in the Play Store, but yeah, almost any mobile game could be labeled as Casual.
braco_alva··on Desert Bus: The Worst Video Game
That would be awesome if you do it!
braco_alva··on Everything is terrible
Sorry, that blog it is not mine, I just stumbled upon the post and thought it was interesting, didn't know it wasn't the original source.
braco_alva··on Google Play cut payments to developers in Argentina
This is really bad news for latin american developers, as far as I know, Argentina was one of the few latin american countries that were able to sell in the Play Store and now it's gone. It kind of kills my hope that they may eventually give support to my country.

I know I can establish an LLC in US to fix this, but it is something that we would rather not to do. It is kind of a bummer that Google makes it so difficult to do business in certain countries.

braco_alva··on Google Checkout will be retired, transition to Google Wallet
Could this mean that could expand the number of countries that were supported by checkout?

I really hope so, not being able to sell in the Play Store/Chrome Web Store is something we've been looking for a while.

braco_alva··on Y Combinator, Silicon Valley’s Start-Up Machine
I agree with you, I'm not saying that the video can be low quality because it doesn't matter, just that the content is far more important to them, but yeah, I think is better if you have a proper camera and mic. Wouldn't leave a nice impression if someone submit a video shooted with their phone.
braco_alva··on Y Combinator, Silicon Valley’s Start-Up Machine
I think he was talking about what the founders say in the video, not the quality of the video itself.
braco_alva··on Show HN: I made a site for hosting/selling indie games
This looks good, but one of the things that could stop us from using it, is Paypal, we can't withdraw money from Paypal where we are located.
braco_alva··on Show HN: 6 months ago I quit my job to pursue indie dev. Here is our first game
How many of you are in the team? The games looks very polished, amazing you made it in just 6 months.
braco_alva··on Show HN: I built an Android game
Great design, very simple yet entertaining. If I may ask, how much time did you spend making it?
braco_alva··on The Real Silicon Valley
This is exactly how I feel, Im in Guatemala, where we don't have much access to VC funds either.

A year has passed since we started, and we still don't have a steady income, but it is worth it, totally worth it, when I realize that I am doing exactly what I want to do, even if the odds are against me, I know I have to keep trying.

braco_alva··on Every single game from GitHub Game Off 2012
Thanks for sharing the list of all the games, and especially thanks for putting us on the 16th, we have received a lot of feedback since the contest launch and would love to hear yours, we are implementing several changes in the game play, it'll become faster and will have more levels in a few weeks.

Also we are preparing the lunch for the android version :)

braco_alva··on What Hasn’t Changed: The Internet Keeps Getting Bigger
That was my point, it might not have the best content on the internet, but it clearly has a huge user base, and a very active one. I don't get why it wouldn't be a good investment decision.
braco_alva··on What Hasn’t Changed: The Internet Keeps Getting Bigger
Why? I know that 9gag is not the most serious business out there, but don't you think it could be a viable and sustainable business?
braco_alva··on Minecraft augmented reality app announced for iOS
Thanks for the reference, I'm going to pass it to them, and yeah, there is still plenty of room in the AR worlds, but they are really dissapointed with this as they were pitching their game as "A minecraft but in the real world".

They are now looking for an alternative, I hope they find one.

braco_alva··on Minecraft augmented reality app announced for iOS
I have a group of friends that were thinking about doing something similar, unfortunately for them, they were just starting to shape the idea, while Mojang seems very ahead in development.
braco_alva··on Graham’s Guide to Learning Scala
Thanks for mentioning the book, after reading your comment I looked for the book, and it looks pretty good, probably the next book I'm going to buy. Thanks!
braco_alva··on Show HN: Instant Google Street View
That is a very nice view.

I have always wanted to visit Japan, but haven't find the time and the money to do it, but I hope I'll someday.

braco_alva··on Show HN: Instant Google Street View
Thanks for the Shrine suggestion! It really looks very interesting.
braco_alva··on Ubuntu announces 12.10 (Quantal Quetzal) Beta 1
I'm also from Guatemala, and yeah, it's really nice to see the word Quetzal in something as big as an Ubuntu version name.
braco_alva··on Show HN: Convert online videos to .gif
I was looking for exactly something like this, really nice interface.
braco_alva··on My weekend hack postmortem: Iterating
I think the pokeball is because of the name of the service, there was this character in Pokemon called Prof. Oak.
braco_alva··on Microsoft launches so.cl
I thought the same thing, but also, the "research" label could be just a safety net in case it doesn't turn out very well.
