boredemployee··on Markov chains are funnier than LLMs
>> They will say anything confidently without knowing anything.

Understanding how these algorithms work, I don't know why we would expect anything different from this?

boredemployee··on Increasing Retention Without Increasing Study Time [pdf]
any other recommendation for articles regarding techniques that works for most people?

boredemployee··on Show HN: Turn any website into a knowledge base for LLMs
great. I really want a feature like that! I'd like to query my knowledge base about images as well!
boredemployee··on Show HN: Turn any website into a knowledge base for LLMs

boredemployee··on Life was dirty, difficult, and dangerous for almost everyone who ever existed
This text only makes sense if you are in a privileged position. For the majority of the population in many countries, the world is not that wonderful.
boredemployee··on Tabloid: A clickbait headline programming language (2021)
hahaha laughed hard on this one.
boredemployee··on [dead]
"Freelancers are a pain in the ass."

That's not a nice way to market your shizzle. Plus you will start an unecessary flame war.

boredemployee··on Ask HN: AI impact on future developer career
I dont think I'd suggest a computer science or engineering degree. Maybe something quicker/shorter. being a junior myself (almost 4 years as a data professional) I must say that I lost the will to learn programming deeply. For many reasons: bosses already demanding high productivity knowing that you can use LLMs for faster coding (in the python/sql realm). But ofc knowing the basics of logic and how to ask/prompt helps a lot
boredemployee··on Claude 3.5 Sonnet
Never tried anything other than Open AI GPT family models and some toy LLMs, but GPT4o sucks compared to GPT4 (imho). I'll try Claude and compare.
boredemployee··on What happens to our breath when we type, tap, scroll
Do you feel like your professional life is also impacted/improved by it? I know the question is broad but I mean things like level of anxiety, success, financial, etc. Or does it improve your "personal life only"?

boredemployee··on Some notes on influenceering
>> In the era of the feed and timeline, nobody bothers to check “Following” when you have “Recommended” enabled by default.

That's something I really hate and I feel pretty dumb that I found just some weeks ago that I can change X's feed to show me the posts people who I follow. I wonder if that's true for instagram as well because I can't stand to see random posts anymore. To be honest, I'm getting tired of it.

i.e: I'm really enjoying going to a record shop to listen to music instead of spotify crap. the serendipity is real

boredemployee··on Show HN: We open sourced our entire text-to-SQL product
you wouldnt believe the amount of developers that don't know how to write sql
boredemployee··on Ask HN: Discuss ADHD and your use of medication
Wow. 30mg of Paroxetine sounds a lot.

I use it for panic attack reasons since 2019, started with 20mg, nowadays I'm using 5mg.

When I was using 10mg alone I felt lazy as hell, can't imagine tooking 30!

Floods happening like that, 3 times in 12 months, in the same place, is a recent phenomenon.

boredemployee··on Run llama3 locally with 1M token context
Great. Thanks!

I wish there was something like "can you run it" but for LLMs.

boredemployee··on Run llama3 locally with 1M token context
man, exactly. it gets on my nerves.
boredemployee··on Mistakes that data science students make
Ty so much
boredemployee··on Mistakes that data science students make
I admire the author's effort in creating research like this, but the truth is that data science has been taught using the current teachings of "first try the code and then learn" approach, and some people manage to evolve and motivate themselves like this, but others don't. The truth is that to do well in the world of technology, you need to use many skills that are not taught in these courses, like Coursera for example. things are very "chewed", at the first bug due to different versions of a library, the student has already given up. There's no point in having everything ready, pressing play on some Jupyter notebooks and getting a certificate. Data science students need to get comfortable of doing hard things and being wrong 90% of the time
boredemployee··on The question that no LLM can answer and why it is important
>> I want a model that can answer any question accurately

Do you think it is possible Simon? Will we achieve that? Genuine question.

boredemployee··on MQL – Client and server to query your db in natural language
Yes. And also, don't forget that different stakeholders ask in different ways, using different words, which turns out the situation in a nightmare. But I think it's possible to make it to work with mid-size databases.
boredemployee··on Brazil threatens to regulate social media after clash with Elon Musk
couldn't it be a simple growth hack strategy by EM?

boredemployee··on Dot – A standalone open source app meant for easy use of local LLMs and RAG
I think it depends of what they want. Like a search is indeed an easy solution, but if they want a summarization or a generated, straight answer so then things get a little bit harder.
boredemployee··on 'Mini liver' will grow in person's own lymph node in bold new trial
Thanks for your comment!

What you said makes a lot of sense, I started taking more care of my health in the last 45 days, I took several tests, etc. and then I discovered this condition.

The nutritionist, not yet knowing about Gilbert's syndrome, asked me to drink 2 to 3 liters of water a day and what I noticed was a huge reduction in the sleep I felt during the day. I also realized that caffeine consumption also bothers me and I'm trying to reduce it.

Don't even get me started on the hangover, every time I go out I already know I'm going to have a hellish next day! It's great to know that I'm not the only one and that someone else continues to drink even though they have a "problem" with their liver, so I feel less guilty!
