bil7··on OpenAI should build Slack
pretty crazy, given what it stands for: "Searchable Log of All Conversation and Knowledge"
bil7··on CRISPR-like tools that finally can edit mitochondria DNA
the only current archive on archive.is also has that. Watch this space for a complete archive, hopefully:

bil7··on Microsoft is plugging more holes that let you use Windows 11 without MS account
Dual boot seems like a more obvious recommendation? Or better still, play games on linux, except those that require kernel AC?
bil7··on Why I'm leaving Medium: AI policy
usually I expect an instructional article/blog post/etc to have actually been tried and tested. If it has the format of "I had x problem, chatGPT suggested solution y, it actually worked, here it is and a bit about why it works" then of course that's fine and good. But you'll only have to google a few times before you see a 100% synthetic SEO optimised useless article that does nothing but waste your time.
bil7··on Bionicle – my actual part in its origins (2015)
I believe they mean "Bionicle Adventure Game: Quest For Makuta (2001)" which has a Lego logo on it. I also cannot find anything on the site in question
bil7··on Show HN: Hacker League – Open-Source Rocket League on Linux
plat 3 is really not that bad - how many hours have you played the game for?
bil7··on Spider Uses a Light Show to Trick Eager Male Fireflies into Its Web
there are many human males that turn to the bottle instead of women. Don't be so mean to the beetles!
bil7··on Magnets are switching up the keyboard game
you're telling me spending $400 to improve the sound of your keypresses isn't worth it?
bil7··on Video Game Module for Flipper Zero
yup, very annoying. Open devtools and delete the element and the page functions fine.
bil7··on We just launched Sketch Logo AI
yep, all HN users agree on all topics. That's why there are never any disagreements.
bil7··on Driver hack lets you run Linux after Windows BSODs, no reboot required
Not enough "it's important to consider"
bil7··on Valve is a wonderful upstream contributor to Linux and the open-source community
I can't believe the current state of things is so good, that I'd default to using the Proton version of a game over the linux native port.
bil7··on The Pirate Bay's 20th Anniversary
many VPN providers available.
bil7··on Networking for introverts
I can only assume the fake conversation in this article is an attempt at humour, but it's not very funny. For a better starter question at an event than "Juicing up for the big keynote?" try making an anecdote about the day, such as, "that last talk was interesting, did you see it?" or going personal, like "that's a cool sticker on your laptop, where did you get it?"
bil7··on Turbo 8 is dropping TypeScript
My least favourite thing about vanilla JS is finding out at runtime that I made a typo. That's an annoying thing that TS completely solves, among many others. I really don't see how you could use TS for any amount of time and wish to revert back.

>Things that should be easy become hard, and things that are hard become `any`. No thanks!

Denouncing a type system because you refuse to use it correctly seems short sighted to me, but I am of course biased as a TS fan.

bil7··on Cheems, the Shiba Inu meme dog, has died
Kabosu, the more popular "Doge", is still alive and well at 17. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doge_(meme)
bil7··on Linux guide for power users (2022)
You can drop in replace Manjaro with EndeavourOS to achieve Arch on easy mode these days.
bil7··on Edsger Dijkstra’s One-Day Workweek
what sort of team are you working in where communication can be so infrequent?
bil7··on Midjourney Showcase
can you elaborate on why creating 2 accounts is such a turn off? Don't get me wrong though, I agree that discord is a horrible UI for such a powerful tool.
bil7··on Generative AI Can Save You Hours at Your Tech Job
look no further than the washing machine to disprove this
bil7··on Nintendo sued for “immoral” Mario Kart lootboxes
While I agree that their monetisation strategies are garbage, I think the Tour maps ported to Switch are quite good and novel. I prefer them to the rehashed SNES maps.
bil7··on Show HN: PuzzleMoji, a daily emoji pictionary challenge against ChatGPT
seems reasonable. Maybe this explanation could be present in the game when the user searches one of these blacklisted emojis?
bil7··on Show HN: PuzzleMoji, a daily emoji pictionary challenge against ChatGPT
is it just me or are thumbs up/down (:+1: and :-1:) not available?
bil7··on I broke a wine glass with my voice (2018) [video]
cool trick. Great channel. Mike's is also very high quality entertainment.

Here's hoping Diana recovers from her ME/CFS swiftly.

bil7··on ShareGPT: Share your ChatGPT conversations with one click
to quote Tom Scott: "Telling someone about your fascinating AI conversation is like telling someone about your dreams. They don’t care, it just sounds like you’re hallucinating nonsense."
bil7··on Microsoft to support Windows 11 on M1 and M2 Macs through Parallels partnership
i think disproportionately more people would enjoy the feature being made native. There's no reason the third party app has to go away, fans could keep using it.
bil7··on Microsoft to support Windows 11 on M1 and M2 Macs through Parallels partnership
for m1 gaming, nintendo switch emulation works surprisingly well with ryujinx

bil7··on From Bing to Sydney
meanwhile OpenAI are plucking Google Brain's best engineers and scientists. For the future of AI, this is disruption, not failure.
bil7··on Show HN: Flappy Bird and Wordle
you can just spam the keyboard to stay afloat, memorizing green letters until you crack the word.
bil7··on You can’t bribe, threaten, or feed people to get them back in the office
what's an offer that would make you come in more regularly?
