bernatfp··on Ask HN: Do you know any communities or blogs focused on B2B/Enterprise startups?
I've been recommended David Skok's blog [1] a few times which is exactly focused on SaaS. Haven't had the chance to go through it yet, so I can't personally recommend.

bernatfp··on Why China is leading the global rise of Bitcoin
Exactly, that's the point I've raised in another comment. By the way, I've read that Bobby Lee (CEO @ BTCChina) is already dealing with Chinese authorities to see if he can expand the business out of China (read: accept €/$). Can't wait to see this happen as well as seeing Litecoin integrated there.

FWIW, if you are seriously into arbitraging, you won't keep transferring funds between both exchanges to finish the cycle of buying-selling. What you will actually do is having half of your funds on both sites and execute both operations on both sites at the same time to have them match.
bernatfp··on Why China is leading the global rise of Bitcoin
I have noticed that this is happenning with other Chinese exchanges such as OKcoin and FXBTC as well. There must be a reason why this arbitrage exists. It's probably the difficulty to close the loop between cashing out in RMB and funding your account on Bitstamp with €/$.

Meanwhile the safest way to do arbitrage is between BTC-E and Bitstamp because they both have low fees for SEPA deposits/withdrawals. Must be European though.

bernatfp··on Cloudflare is down
That's weird. I assure you I was receiving a 502 error code from Nginx on their URL. Nevermind, there's no trace of the error so they fixed it pretty quickly I guess.
bernatfp··on Offer HN: Let Me Give You Ideas For Your Business
No problem, I will be waiting for my compensation when you get hella rich ;-)
bernatfp··on How I Learned to Work a Room
90% of the time I get out of this echo chamber I find myself trapped in discussing the last episode of X TV series or Y sports match. I'm fine with that, but sometimes I'd prefer to talk about other stuff and finding the right people blindly can be hard.
bernatfp··on Offer HN: Let Me Give You Ideas For Your Business
This would be Snapchat hadn't Internet been invented.
bernatfp··on Offer HN: Let Me Give You Ideas For Your Business
Just make a Snapchat clone that lets you send pictures from your photo gallery, I REALLY NEED IT. I don't have many relevant pics to make and send via Snapchat but I do have lots of stupid pictures that I want to forward to my friends.
bernatfp··on How I Learned to Work a Room
When I encounter myself in these sort of situations I feel uncomfortable so I kind of empathize with the author. And it's funny because I'm working on an iPhone app which is aimed at solving these kind of situations where you want to start new conversations with strangers. It's called Joiner ( http://www.joinerapp.com ) if you want to check it out (shameless plug).

However, I think I'm not only worried by how to approach people more easily, but also to find good conversations. If it's already very hard to start a conversation with a stranger, imagine finding a good topic of conversation. In my case, on most occasions I always talk about the same thing, like what I do, where I am from and what I have studied. Because I don't know what I have in common with the other person I don't risk pushing other topics into the conversation, which would be great if, for instance, I entered a room and could instantly detect people with similar interests in technology, music or whatever.

That's why we have created Joiner, to help removing the pain of meeting new people and by making it more engaging.

bernatfp··on Coinbase Bitcoin Wallet App Gets Axed From iOS App Store
Well, I guess they can focus on integrating Litecoin into their system now...
bernatfp··on Empty-Stomach Intelligence
That's exactly what I've been noticing with myself. As time passes from my last meal, I start becoming more productive, I can read faster, remember many more things... I feel like my brain weights less. On the other side, just after having had lunch I need to have a short nap, otherwise it takes me like 1h to be fully operative again.
bernatfp··on Crap to stop doing on startup websites
Good points, but there's a good reason why passwords are asked to be typed twice.
bernatfp··on Poll: Where are you currently living?
Voted for Western Europe. Afterwards I realized there was a Mediterranean Europe choice too. Oops...
bernatfp··on Baidu now accepts Bitcoin
Not a surprise, China already has the leading exchange in terms of volume, BTCChina.
bernatfp··on Nest introduces their Smoke Detector
Another impressive product. And a clear demonstration that they want to be something more than a thermostat manufacturer. They are indeed becoming the Apple of household devices.
bernatfp··on How do you deploy beta testing versions your iOS apps?
AFAIK, the only benefit I see from switching to Hockeyapp is that the tester doesn't have to register into Testflight in order to download the app. Now, I have to roll a beta test phase for our app and will try Hockeyapp. I'll leave my impressions here later.
bernatfp··on How do you deploy beta testing versions your iOS apps?
I tried Testflight and didn't like that each user has to register himself without being able to download the beta app.

Once, I used HockeyApp to download a Beta app and it was absolutely straightforward. You should give it a try. The only problem is that it is not a free service.

bernatfp··on Ask HN: How would one go about writing his own database?
Thanks for the constructive feedback. In fact, I wanted to focus just in latitude-longitude pairs to perform geolocated queries, this is my single goal. I'm trying to get rid of MongoDB for my backend and this is one of the last barriers...
bernatfp··on Ask HN: How would one go about writing his own database?
Well I wanted to write it in Go. I've seen there are already some DB related projects written in such language http://golang.cat-v.org/go-code
bernatfp··on Ask HN: How would one go about writing his own database?
To be precise, I want to code a key/value store exclusively oriented at geolocated queries by key. It doesn't look like a very complex project or am I underestimating it?
bernatfp··on Quantitative Data Cleaning for Large Databases [pdf]
Why does HN create a Scribd link for every PDF posted?
bernatfp··on Scaling MongoDB at Mailbox
I'm aware of MongoDB issues with scaling, and I'm trying to avoid it as much as I can, but I still can't find any other alternative that offers geolocated queries.
bernatfp··on Urllib2 vs requests
I just discovered a harder and longer way to do HTTP requests in Python, that's why I shared this gist.

In which cases would one want to suffer with urllib2?

bernatfp··on We may get fired and I don't know what to do
Just name the damn company and sooner or later the upper bosses will find out.
bernatfp··on Boarding Pass Redesign
I wouldn't care to redesign the paper boarding pass. It will be killed in <5yr.

You better design a good mobile e-ticket with something more than a damn QR code, which is what I mostly find with the airlines I fly... At the moment the only acceptable solution I've found is the one provided by Passbook,

bernatfp··on What technology should your startup use?
I thought this lesson was already learned. You should use the one you're more comfortable with to build an MVP even if it doesn't scale well. You will take care about that later.
bernatfp··on Show HN: Spread bitcoins by lending to friends
People should avoid Ripple. Building an economy under a system that is in hands of one company isn't a very good idea.
bernatfp··on Dominos tested delivering pizza by drone [video]
Who cares if it is a commercial. People need to realize drones can be used for other stuff than military. Maybe this ad will serve as a good tool to democratize drones as that "Pizza for Bitcoin" website did for Bitcoin, even if it's just a small step.
bernatfp··on Coinbase Leads Charge In Bitcoin’s Consumerization
The main problem I see with BTC as compared to PayPal is that transactions can't be cancelled, as they are added into the blockchain.
