Now suppose my cost to produce goes from zero to $0.99 per unit, which drops my profit to $0.01. Now that 1% increase in price that only drops sales by 1% is well worth it because my profit per unit doubles. The profit-maximizing price is now likely well over $1.

If it had been called a "high-speed toaster oven" or maybe a "digital grill" I probably would have bought one sooner.
Can't remember source but heard this theory on a podcast.
> "Most implausible-sounding ideas are in fact bad and could be safely dismissed. But not when they're proposed by reasonable domain experts."
> "The lowest form of all is to dismiss an idea because of who proposed it."
I feel like he's prematurely dismissing the idea of dismissing an idea based on who proposes it because of who he's imagining doing (proposing) it, if that makes sense.
I suspect coders "forage" more than this time-based model predicts because it's cognitively easier than deciding where to "navigate" or how to "enrich".
As a solo dev I relate to this frustration with over-engineering but I can imagine its benefits for big teams.
You filter (1) an array with (2) a function. You map (1) a function over (2) an array. You reduce (1) an array with (2) a function.
It follows exactly what I'm thinking when I type it. To reverse the orders would be, what? "Mapping an array with a function?" "Filter a function on an array?"
If you were a fan of the old OkCupid blog or Christian Rudder's "Dataclysm," you will love it here.
Photofeeler is a tool for photo feedback, but we're primarily a data science company. We do math to maximize the statistical value of small, noisy data samples. Our company is changing the future of online profiles.
The gig offers unparalleled freedom without beauracratic nonsense (think: can work remote, work flexible hours, no unnecessary meetings). Our users are eager and enthusiastic for everything that we build.

On points 3 & 4: I've seen more fake Facebook and LinkedIn accounts than I can count. Some users have dozens. I haven't looked into how they create them so easily, but they do. While it's certainly more hassle to get one than a fake email, there's still a ton of them.
- Google Play Zelle app has ~500k downloads and a 1.7 rating
- ZellePay.com U.S. Alexa rank = 6,505; Venmo.com = 757
- $75B/247M payments = $304 avg transaction??
This also seems bad for early-stage startups, where developer time is severely limited.
