asdadsdad··on NHS to investigate Palantir influencer campaign as possible contract breach
I honestly don't understand what's dodgy about Palantir. They build a platform to analyze big data and they have clients like government agencies, immigration control and law enforcement. What's the big deal here? Please educate me

asdadsdad··on Brexit has failed for UK, say clear majority of Britons – poll
the UK got itself to a pretty peculiar setup now. The market for devs isn't so high paid or that huge to need much more people that don't already have the right to work there. It's not as attractive as the US
asdadsdad··on Brexit has failed for UK, say clear majority of Britons – poll
yep. there's nothing more mediocre than being against skilled immigration
asdadsdad··on What seven hours in London teaches me about surveillance capitalism
beautifully put. London is the greatest city in the world
asdadsdad··on What seven hours in London teaches me about surveillance capitalism
a tad dramatic?

This does not hold up in any court.
asdadsdad··on Show HN: I scraped 25M Shopify products to build a search engine
you might check this for inspiration (https://seguranca-informatica.pt/shopping-trap-the-online-st...).

I used to have a huge IOC collection, but now stopped tracking them.

things like HTML markup, pricing patterns, IPs might inform on specific clusters of fraudsters.

I don't think Shopify cares tbh

asdadsdad··on Show HN: I scraped 25M Shopify products to build a search engine
cool project. You might have notice, but there's a non-trivial amount of fraud on shopify (fake shops, info stealers, etc). Might be interesting to look at that dataset and explore a bit =) it's quite fascinating
asdadsdad··on Ask HN: Meta's Threads is dead, isn't it?
cheap copycat. As for Bluesky created too much hype and exclusivity that people gave up. got a notification last week inviting me to join and lol'd. kinda like magicleap with vr.
asdadsdad··on Ask HN: Where do you live? What's good or bad about it?
well, hold on guys. let's not go too orthodox with all the education and moving abroad thing. People move abroad to the "west" for a variety of legit reasons which give them perspective. Many companies are in the UK and London still is, and probably always will be a powerhouse. Same for US, Germany, etc. I don't know that one can cross out the benefit of having studied abroad along so many talented people that easily. Can you get that at home? Depends on a lot of things, specially where is home for you.
asdadsdad··on Services across England now lag far behind East Germany
> It does tend to leave the question open of why there's such a large American constituency for "why aren't we more like Europe?".

because even if the US is very rich and ahead, their public infrastructure feels very run down compared to Germany, Austria, and others in Europe.

asdadsdad··on Services across England now lag far behind East Germany
the skilled working class is already being squeezed down to the last penny. engineers are paid absurdly low salaries given the cost of living in London, and that's where they're best paid
asdadsdad··on 55% of workers say their pay isn't keeping up with inflation
well, the catch is "we make about as much here as we did in the US". Usually, you'd make 40% less of what you did in the US when you move to the UK.
asdadsdad··on Return to office is 'dead,' Stanford economist says
the key part is really trust. there's no substitute for in-office work on that matter. 100% agree with your take on this.

how did you get a visa w/ a us job?
asdadsdad··on Ask HN: How do you set up a SaaS as a solopreneur?
maybe a piece of feedback: your landing page is beautiful but I kinda spent a few minutes trying to find what your software actually looks like, and couldn't. Then I thought of checking the docs for the API description and it's restricted. =(
asdadsdad··on Spain cancels Pegasus spyware investigation because Israel is not co-operating
lots of people in Israel are ex-Mossad or ex-security services/army/special forces
asdadsdad··on Spain cancels Pegasus spyware investigation because Israel is not co-operating
So, solution to a private Israeli cybersecurity company that sells services to governments is to deport all Jews from Spain? You must be fun at parties.
